Dr Who could be great if Moffat stopped writing it .

I am cautiously optimistic. I actually could understand it because nobody was their own mother, father, daughter etc and it was more like one of the old-fashioned stories.

I think PC will be fine. I'm ready for someone who isn't so hyper and quirky, a la Smith and Tennant.

Nerf · 23/08/2014 21:14

He's wearing a wedding ring g

Beer He loves Dr Who (well Matt Smith anyway) I don't have a problem with him watching it, I always watched it as a child, my Dad would have done too, so it's a family thing to us. It doesn't scare him so I don't see a problem.

Where was Matt Smith? Missed that. :(

Sunna · 23/08/2014 21:16

I think I'm in love.

Hassled · 23/08/2014 21:16

:o at fuckety bye

I quite liked it/him. I think. Was all a bit try-hard but I reckon it will settle down.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 23/08/2014 21:17

I'm starting to like him but still don't like Clara.

Corygal · 23/08/2014 21:19

I liked PC and have great hopes he will calm the shows down - shrieky twenty-somethings were getting dull.

I wish the Doctor had a pet.

He was brilliant, really outstanding, loads of gravitas
Mattwhatshisface was shite,insipid and wooden

Seriouslyffs · 23/08/2014 21:20

Lovely Capaldi- not a disappointment.
But what on earth are toddlers doing watching it? Confused and a big Hmm

miffybun73 · 23/08/2014 21:22

OK, I've just seen a bit of it.

It is scary, violent and there is some swearing. No way are my babies watching it. (DS - 6 and DD - 4)

DD is scared of Numberjacks! and DS's favourite film is Mary Poppins so it's probably not for them.

The Rescuers is the scariest thing they've ever seen.

TalkinPeace · 23/08/2014 21:23

I thought it was FAB
the start time of 8pm was a clear signal than no under 12s should be watching
they have set up a WHOLE new series
and the voice of the tardis is WONDERFUL

Remember how we all felt about David Tennant after Christopher Eccleston, and Matt "who the fuck is he?" Smith when they first started? Yeah, load of folk hated them.

Capaldi will be great. I bet my username on it. He has a stillness to him that will scare the shit out of everyone.

I would probably be more skeptical if all those 3 year olds did like it.

Ps LOVED hearing Neve Campbell doing her Scottish accent. She is wonderful

nancy75 · 23/08/2014 21:24

I keep expecting a Malcolm Tucker style swearathon, i'm struggling to see him as anyone else!

EmpressOfBedlam · 23/08/2014 21:24

Agree scottish PC was ace. I really liked Clara too but then I don't think I have properly watched it since the scary angels one Blush

IsabellaofFrance · 23/08/2014 21:24

I really liked it.

The beginning reminded me of the Troughton/Pertwee regeneration where Pertwee collapsed and spent much of the first part of the Autons story in a hospital bed mumbling.

Loved the nod to the scarf, and Amy.

Seriouslyffs · 23/08/2014 21:24

Schroeder just because he doesn't seem scared doesn't mean he's not disturbed by it- the burning dinosaur, the man with the face missing?
It'd probably be difficult to stop j watching it now especially with bigger siblings but make it as unintense as possible not dark, sitting with you etc.

GertrudeTheMongrel · 23/08/2014 21:25

Sorry! Not Neve Campbell! That would be something weirdGrin

Nerf · 23/08/2014 21:25

Aw miffy my six year old just yawned his way through it but won't look at a statue because of the angels or watch goosebumps alone! I'd be worried they'd be bored tbh
