But how can the doctor hate soldiers - I thought he had a thing with Capt Jack?
Agree re romance, am totally not in need of it.
And the 'dad' thing is annoying, like they've seen the age difference and decided to make it meaningful.

I think he doesn't want a soldier for Clara because he is one. In the episode before, it was revelead he went to a timelord army school or somesuch even though he cried and didn't want to.

Davros · 29/09/2014 20:19

iamnotamindreader, you're right I did say that didn't i? GrinTardisTardis

RustyDalek · 29/09/2014 20:50

Captain Jack wasn't really a soldier though - he was just impersonating an American Air Force officer.

As fishdishwish said, the doctor has frequently expressed a less than admiring attitude towards the military - particularly Pertwee's doctor; though he respected the Brig personally, he had a contempt for the 'military mind' and the army's tendency to solve a problem by blowing it up - for example, when he first encountered the Silurians he wanted to make peace with them, but UNIT blew up their underground base and sealed them in.

An alien may say what it likes to another alien, but a man is not to say what Danny said to a woman more than his equal. Angry >

RustyDalek · 29/09/2014 21:22

Actually what Danny said is similar to what both Rose's mum and Martha's mum have said at various times about the Doctor.

Monroe · 29/09/2014 21:32

I took Danny 's speech to mean that he recognised certain qualities in the doctor and understood what it was like to be asked to do things that could challenge your moral and ethical beliefs. He picked up on how she did what he asked without question and is worried she will do something she will later regret because he has been in the same position.
And that is why he asked her to tell him, because he's been there.

Why do I think he's killed someone? Has that been said on here or on the show? It's something I think I know but don't know how Confused

YonicScrewdriver · 29/09/2014 21:34

Yes, it was said on the show.

confuddledDOTcom · 30/09/2014 03:45

the call sign was Sierra Oscar. I can't believe they did that accidentally. not a Who or geeky thing but I found it interesting...

BestIsWest · 30/09/2014 06:09

Can't you explain that Confuddled?

confuddledDOTcom · 30/09/2014 07:23

It is, or was, the call sign for Sun Hill.

BestIsWest · 30/09/2014 19:46

As in The Bill?

SpidersDontWashTheirHands · 02/10/2014 16:23

I can't stand Danny. He comes across as a controlling, manipulative, petulant little shitbag. She'll probably marry him.

BertieBotts · 02/10/2014 16:26

It's tiresome I must admit. That's what all of Moffat's male characters are like.

YonicScrewdriver · 02/10/2014 20:01

Bertie, even Rory?!!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 21:30

What. Not even one spoiler for me to avoid until tomorrow?

BertieBotts · 04/10/2014 21:46

No, not Rory. Rory was an exception for some reason. Although he was a bit bland and characterless.

BBC quite often do nods to their other programmes so the Sun Hill thing would make sense.

I am not watching this week. The promo looked very spider heavy!

RustyDalek · 04/10/2014 21:49

Umm... The Bill was ITV!

And there were lots of spiders....

BestIsWest · 04/10/2014 21:50

Actually hid behind a cushion for that one.

Iwantmyparcel · 04/10/2014 21:53

I don't like the dr in this season. He doesn't seem a nice man at all. Are we supposed to dislike him ?

Nerf · 04/10/2014 22:09

Well it's gone from funny and easy to follow at a decent time to weird and complicated at a too late for children time in what, three weeks?

OP posts:
2rebecca · 05/10/2014 10:00

Why couldn't the spiders just be spiders? The spiders really being bacteria despite spinning webs seemed an unnecessary and scientifically unlikely addition to the moon hatching story.
Capaldi's script was rubbish this week. I also didn't get why the earth was in so much trouble prior to them finding out the moon was about to explode and there was another unbelievable happy everyone on earth lives happily ever after ending that made me wonder what the problem before was that had been fixed as nothing (from the earth's standpoint) had actually happened, just 1 moon replaced by another.

BertieBotts · 05/10/2014 10:22

Oh was it ITV? Grin Shows how much attention I pay!

RustyDalek · 05/10/2014 11:37

The earth was in trouble because the moon's mass had increased drastically as the creature grew, and this was affecting the earth's tides and gravity and stuff (though as OYBBK has said somewhere, the actual physics of the thing probably wasn't very well thought-out)

Jux · 05/10/2014 11:54

It was rubbish, this episode. I hate Moffat more each week.

I think they are trying to phase it out altogether; I can't think why else they have changed the time to an adult (or definitely not child friendly) slot, and made it so crap as well. That episode would probably have worked better at 6pm, at 8.30 it was bollocks.
