Gutted, we are all surprised at how much we hate Peter capaldi! Was so looking forward to this! Its pants!

I wish they'd be consistent as to whether or not he can remember his past lives. OK when his memory was wiped he couldn't but one moment he's getting melancholy over knowing and remembering so much the next he can't remember previous incarnations and doesn't know what make up is or tarting yourself up.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 21/09/2014 01:27

He knows what make up is, it suits this incarnation to pretend otherwise sometimes.

MaryWestmacott · 21/09/2014 09:52

I think at the end he said something about "bank hiest, beat that for a date" or something suggests he was deliberately ignoring the make up/posh outfit and winding her up....

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/09/2014 10:22

One thing that's just niggled me, the 'last chance' things that turned out to be teleporters, he said something like 'the really interesting thing is that there were six of then'. Surely they'd have needed eight? Two each for Sabre and Si, and one each for the Doctor, Clara and the two monsters?

MaryWestmacott · 21/09/2014 10:53

Polkadots, I assumed they could use them more than once...

RustyDalek · 21/09/2014 11:44

Well, that might have worked if Clara didn't already know that he knew what make-up is....

Pixel · 21/09/2014 21:09

I must say, those teleporters don't seem to be something you'd want to use for everyday travel, it looked a bit painful. Can you imagine? "I'm just off to work dear" Grin.

Trills · 21/09/2014 21:14

Clara (and most people watching) are not really sure how much of what he knows in one incarnation is still available to the next incarnation.

RustyDalek · 21/09/2014 21:22

But it was in this incarnation! - in 'Listen' when Clara came back from the first date he said 'you've taken your make-up off'

Trills · 21/09/2014 21:35

On the other hand, she hadn't taken her makeup off at that point, so his makeup-related commentary is just confusing!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/09/2014 21:42

Ah yes. I think it was because of the 'last chance' way they talked about them.

Davros · 23/09/2014 10:24

We enjoyed this one a lot although I need to watch it again as usual. I loved Mr and Mrs Teller being reunited at the end without their horrible straight jacket suits

2rebecca · 23/09/2014 20:35

Just caught up by watching the under the bed one. Why do the female companions pick nice but dim boyfriends? The army teacher is just another Rory.
Does the doctor always have to be the obvious alpha male?

2rebecca · 23/09/2014 20:36

Peter Capaldi is looking increasingly sexy

Davros · 23/09/2014 22:05

What about the brilliant adapted idents before each programme? We live looking out for them.

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 23/09/2014 22:06

Danny Pink isn't dimmer than Clara and Rory wasn't dimmer than Amy.

Everyone is dimmer than the doctor. Who gets to be alpha cos he's the title role Grin

HolyQuadrityDrinkFeckArseGirls · 23/09/2014 22:13

And cause he's got big penises. Grin

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 23/09/2014 22:14

Two hearts AND two...??

2rebecca · 27/09/2014 21:22

Assistants' boyfriends should be banned. Are we about to have a cutesie wise ass kid as new assistant? Groan.
Peter Capaldi is still excellent, shame about the script and the extras.

Pixel · 27/09/2014 21:43

I'm glad Clara isn't teaching my kids, she's a bit rubbish! Also I'd have thought the teeny tight miniskirts rather inappropriate for working in a secondary school but maybe I'm an old fogey Grin (I think I must be because I shuddered at the 'cutesy' girl calling "Oi" when she was looking for the caretaker - rude or what?).

Is it me or is the Tardis getting bigger and bigger on the inside?

Pixel · 27/09/2014 21:45

Btw I know it's 'big', I read a book where they said it was infinite, like an onion getting smaller in layers, only in reverse. Can't remember the book though. Anyway, I meant the control room thingy seems to now be enormous!

Nerf · 27/09/2014 22:01

Same here about the skirts. Utterly ridiculous.
And the boring boyfriend thing.
And now there are too many people I want to be doing what they did elsewhere - Green Wing and The Thick of It.

Some of dd's teachers wear skirts like that. I do feel a bit Hmm at Parents' Evening. Especially one of the PE teachers who is an Amazon and dons v tight skirts and high heels for Parents' Eve, when she is nearly 6' without them - I'm only just 5' and feel like I'm in Y3 when she talks to me Grin

Scripts are still pretty bad. PC is getting better, but can do without this silly jealousy/protective thing. Had enough of the boyfriend now too. I don't need Clara's relationship documented for me - it's irrelevant, and we all know what's going to happen to them anyway.

why why why why why why why why why was it necessary to show it at 8.30?

fishdishwish · 27/09/2014 22:31

I agree about the boyfriend thing - totally unnecessary. There's far too much flirting in the modern show for my liking anyway. I thought we might get a respite from it once Capaldi came along, and to a point we have, but it seems to have shifted to Clara and the dull boyfriend.

Stephen Moffatt has apparently said something to the effect that because so many of the old-school fans were geeks who couldn't get girlfriends, they projected their own 'sexlessness' onto the Doctor. Whilst there might a grain of truth in that, the modern show seems awash with cheesy innuendo and cheeky, flirty banter at times.

Pixel · 27/09/2014 23:13

It was as if the 'saving the planet' part was almost an aside to Clara's lovelife, it took ages to even mention why the Doctor was at the school, we had a token and rather rushed 'death' to illustrate the supposed danger from the alien. Tbh there was no tension and the defeat of the alien was fairly quick and easy all things considered! (was impressed with Pink's gymnastic skills, do they teach that in the army nowadays, or maths teacher school? Grin). It just wasn't much of a story. Doctor sulks, Clara flirts/argues, everyone has 'hilarious' misunderstandings and they all defeat a homicidal alien in between, as you do. I hope the rude kid threw up in Clara's handbag
