We loved last night's episode and think we can just about keep up with the potential connections. I really like Clara now, it's a real shame she's leaving.

mummytime · 14/09/2014 17:20

That was an unusually scary episode though.

It seemed all nicely tied up bu there are so many questions remaining.
Who was under the blanket? From what we saw it wasn't just a child.
Who is Dan/Rupert Pink? Where did he come from? With a children's home background that makes him quite mysterious (also unless its a writing error, children's homes weren't that big in the 80s, 20 children not hundreds like that place looked like it could hold).
Oh and who did Dan kill, not in war? (When the kids teased him at the start of his first appearance.)
Never mind Missy.
Why the Doctor choose that face?

BrianButterfield · 14/09/2014 17:37

I like Clara now - it's such a relief when they're not simpering over one another. Peter Capaldi is such a good actor, I enjoy every moment he's on screen. He can convey more in a glance than lesser actors Matt Smith could manage in a whole hour.

HolyQuadrityDrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/09/2014 19:48

He chose that fave, mummytime because it's gorgeous.

Monroe · 14/09/2014 20:45

I really enjoyed that. Or at least the bits I saw through my fingers Grin

I'm looking forward to finding out Dans story and where the series is going.

Although I would also like to know what was under the blanket. There was definitely a glimpse of a non human face so obviously not all in the mind of the doctor.

I'm loving PC which I wasn't sure I would. But then again I loved CE, grew to love DT and really loved MS so it shouldn't be a surprise. Fickle as feck I am Smile

Coumarin · 14/09/2014 21:02

I loved yesterday's episode. It's one of the best they've done.

Still haven't completely settled with Peter C but thought he was wonderful last night and his delivery was perfection. Plus the look he did after "Dad skills" stirred something for a moment Hmm

Trills · 14/09/2014 21:06

"Awesome Pink" :o

Nerf · 14/09/2014 21:36

I thought it was Awesome tooBlush

I was watching with subtitles on

Nerf · 14/09/2014 22:05

And was it Awesome or Orson? Doesn't Orson mean bear? Maybe that's a clue to something Grin

Davros · 14/09/2014 22:15

the thing in the blanket made me think of Whistle And I'll Come To You, better Stephen Moffat is a fan. I also saw a glimpse of something non-human, it looked a bit like The Silence

BertieBotts · 14/09/2014 22:47

It was Orson. They had it written down on the news screen thing (I love that they predict the BBC News format is going to remain unchanged for 100 years)

Nerf · 14/09/2014 22:56

Thanks Bertie

RustyDalek · 14/09/2014 22:56

Doesn't look like the Silence to me- too short. It's so out of focus it makes the eyes look bigger; it could be anything really, but at that angle the height is right for a small boy.

Actually, looking at it again, it looks a bit like a Sontaran....

ok we all hate, the new doctor,
Coumarin · 14/09/2014 22:57

I felt actual chills during the thing on the bed scene. I don't think that's ever happened before. Maybe during Don't Blink.

Coumarin · 14/09/2014 22:58

Maybe it's another timey wimey Clara with her wide face. Grin

Coumarin · 14/09/2014 22:59

(Meant 'Blink'.)

ChoccyJules · 14/09/2014 23:19

Last time I was scared by DW was the 'are you my Mummy?' stuff. Proper hiding behind my fingers I was for the bedroom scene!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/09/2014 19:46

Wish this thread could be consolidated with the other Dr Who thread.... Someone pointed out there that we've now had two references to Clara's death (date of death? Forgotten.) So I'm guessing that she might eventually find herself meeting Missy in the newly introduced Heaven.....

RustyDalek · 15/09/2014 19:49

That was me zero - when Strax was giving her a medical exam in the first episode he said he could tell her how long she was going to live and she said no thanks, and then this week the Doctor said her whole timeline would be displayed on the screen from birth to death and she wasn't happy.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/09/2014 19:52

So what d'you think - is the whole "heaven" set-up really there for Clara?

TeenagersDriveMeMad · 15/09/2014 19:53

The thing under the blanket was a Sontaran - obvious from the above screen cap. The Doctor also mentioned them when he woke up (while Clara was talking to child version of The Doctor) - 'Sontarans manipulating the human race' or something like that.

RustyDalek · 15/09/2014 19:58

I do find the two threads confusing too - I keep forgetting what I've posted on which thread. And the other thread is in Chat and was started at the the end of July, so it's going to go poof a week or so before the season ends.

gamescompendium · 15/09/2014 23:12

Oh, that was a proper Moffat scary episode wasn't it. I don't think that thing looked like a Sontaran (and really, perfectly evolved to hide? I present to you: Strax), more like the Roswell alien than anything else.

I'm really liking Clara this series. I loved her when she was Souffle Girl and in the Great Intelligence Christmas special and was so pissed off last series when she was given sweet FA to do. She's been driving the plot more and it's much better. If she continues like this I'll be sorry to see her go.
