Gutted, we are all surprised at how much we hate Peter capaldi! Was so looking forward to this! Its pants!

And I like the idea that Missy is the Rani, she certainly looks similar to (iirc) Kate O'Mara.

Did I miss something with DD's talking, because they got clean pretty quickly after they fell in the organic protein pool!!

princess, I think you're right about Missy.

The slapping aside, I love this new series so far. Funnier, darker. I like not knowing who the Doctor really is yet. Tennant's Doctor knew who he was by the end of his first episode ('that's the kind of man I am' - apols if I'm misquoting) and PC doesn't know yet and has the capacity to be surprised by himself. (But I loved DT and MS, too).

My only criticisms: I loathe the new title sequence and I can't catch everything they're saying, so I have to rewatch with the subtitles on... Mind you, I had to do that with the West Wing.

I thought that about the crack, quickly followed by "oh no!" I love the new titles and I live anything with Daleks. The Fantadtic Voyage angle could have been more visually spectacular. It's ages since I've seen it, but even the 60s film had a lot more going on and, if course, included the antibodies.

Hmm... I want to love it - but I don't seem to ever remember DT sounding as if he was speaking words that were way beneath his intelligence. And MS always made things sound as if the words were only a superficial convention - not the real meaning of things. This new Doctor is being made to speak lines of such mediocrity when he could clearly be doing so much more.

It was so frustrating that, presented with a Dalek. there was no nod to Clara as we first met her. Why didn't they make use of that opportunity?

But I'm excited that SM seems to have regained his faith in story arcs!

I didn't get to watch it properly as it was on at 7.30 which is when we eat, so I was stirring cheese sauce, layong tanle, serving etc. Very annoying. I would much rather watch it earlier with dd, and then get on with stuff.

At least it ended in time for the Egyptain doc - which wasn't a rehash of everything we already knew, but a whole lot of new stuff, and fascinating!

Zero, it's not clear to me if Clara remembers all the times she was the Impossible Girl (or even if this is the Clara that was the IG or if that was a "splinter" Clara)

But the fact of her Dalek-dom is something they know that we know of - I think they could (and should) have acknowleged that in some clever meta-ish way that I probably couldn't manage myself...

Still really like Capaldi, but unconvinced by that episode -- I can imagine that everyone got very excited over the high concept pitch of "the Doctor does InnerSpace in a Dalek" but they didn't really come up with a coherent plot to go with it. And the slap was just inappropriate.

I think Clara can't remember her various IG lives or we'd have heard about it by now.

Have just googled him to see what he's up to and see he's in a new scifi TV thriller series starting on the BBC in November along with Michael Gambon. Dr Who and Dumbledore, very exciting
