He came across resentful/ dismissive rather than shy to me. It seems so/too fluffy for OINTB to have a baby-talk epiphany!

Cardinal · 12/06/2014 13:22

I didn't think he was shy. I thought he was a hard man, too cool to be a good dad and show some emotions and she was worried he would neglect her.

Then the relief when she got to stay opened him up.

I loved this, especially all the stuff with O'Neill and the nuns. Best line of the series was: "Noooo! I've fallen in with the bad nuns" I giggled for hours over that one.

Just watched the finale. Utterly brilliant. I quite liked Piper by the end. Bit confused by why they let vee out. Had they poisoned her and wanted her to die outside? I'm being thick I know.

I think the heroin is going to feature next season.

One more thing: Alex did a runner but why did her neighbour from Queens open her door?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 14/06/2014 07:32

They didn't let vee out did they? She knew about the pipe and she just ran. And Alex hadn't run for it yet, the neighbour was with the probation officer which is why he opened the door. Perhaps he was the landlord.

Anotheronebitthedust · 14/06/2014 12:17

I thought the bit where Maria's babydaddy suddenly started making an effort to talk was lovely! It was the only part in the whole show that made me cry!

Agree that the guy who opened Alex's door was the landlord, he was nagging her about putting out recyclables or something in one episode. Although no idea why they didn't call through the door or something instead of just breaking it straight down.

They didn't 'let' Vee out, but when the older woman discovered the hole in the greenhouse was empty she covered it up to stop them all getting in trouble. And Lorna/Gloria put some sort of spell/bad mojo thing on Vee, they didn't exactly plan she would escape and be run over, but for her to get her comeuppance some way or another!

I laughed so much at 'Potato with eyes!'

Anotheronebitthedust · 14/06/2014 12:23

sj73 I disagree. I actually liked Piper through most of the show - I liked the way she wasn't portrayed as necessarily very likeable, like most female protagonists have to be, and the way she was self-aware of her own faults (her hypocrisy and tendency to make everything about her). She also had flashes of real humanity, like her care for the ill older lady, and lying to Red about her shop to stop her worrying.

But getting Larry to turn Alex in just because she was worried about being alone is just despicable!

Cardinal · 14/06/2014 14:05

Another one... She wasn't just worried about being alone (though it was part of it). She -I think anyway-loves Alex, and was fearing for her safety from the drug lords after Alex told on them in court. Selling out your drug ring could have meant death for Alex, she had no witness protection stuff going on, so prison is the safer option.

I wonder how this is all going to end. Real life Piper got married to real life Larry, but at this point I'd rather anything else happen!

Anotheronebitthedust · 14/06/2014 16:24

Hmm...I don't know Cardinal. I agree that is probably the way she justified it to herself, but if Alex was that worried she would have done something herself to go back to prison. She obviously knew it was an option because she mentioned her probation officer dying to catch her out on an infraction, but decided she would rather go on the run instead. Piper just removed her agency and made the decision that would benefit her (Piper) the most.

I mean, Alex can't stay in jail forever, so at some point she is still going to get out and be in danger.

SantanaLopez · 14/06/2014 23:17

I think Piper will have to either live with Larry and Polly or in his apartment when she gets out, so they'll still be around for a few more episodes/ seasons.

She'll also turn into some sort of prison campaigner which keeps her coming into Litchfield.
