Just caught up on this. Maybe they had been taught to tie up the crocodile like that to stop it from death rolling? It wasn't nice to watch and I worried about the croc suffering but it didn't seem an intuitive way to tie up an animal so maybe they were told to do it that way.

I agree with everyone's suggestions that it would be great if they did an island of women next time.

I'm a bit confused did they go nearly a week on snails and coconuts and then wait all day until night to eat the two little fish?? Why not cook them the minute they got them out of the net??

Honestly, I think it's fixed. There's no chance we would get to witness them literally starve to death. The dramatic tension is very contrived IMO.

That is why I dont generally watch these sorts of programmes any more Clean. I have become cynical. I am only watching it because a relative of mine is raving about it and really really wants me to watch it Hmm

fwiw though, I do think that are genuinely suffering and losing a lot of weight [well some of them]

I wont keep posting about my cynicism, as that will ruin it for others.

Enjoy the show.

Oh, and I think that their ineptitude is real too.

It is strange how they only cook on the fire at night. Is there any chance that they are only allowed to build the fire up when it's dark??

Fullpleatherjacket · 14/05/2014 07:20

I agree the drama is artificially contrived.

First week.....will they find water before it's too late?? Shock

This week .....will they find food before it's too late?? Shock

Next week.... who knows? other than there will something Hmm

Ridiculous really when we all know it's OK because it goes on for weeks Grin

ok. I will carry on then!
Yes Vivacia, I suspect that too. I did think it was strange that they wee starving hungry, caught something, and about 3 of them said, ooh that will make a nice supper!
We were shouting, "cook it now"!

Mumsnet is me... Or something
Hadn't read this thread but I've shouted at the tv pretty much everything that has been said on here.

Bear grylls has said he would be happy to do an island with all women on. Doubt it would be quite so frustrating watching it either.

I would love to do something like this, I actually applied for the second series of castaway (the thing Ben Fogle was on) but they never made one. I don't have huge amounts of essential skills but I'm practical with common sense and am willing to get on with it. I suspect I wouldn't be picked for just those reasons.

Is long haired bloke going to leave?

I'd love to go on an all woman one.

I really think that these guys should get their dues.
It's one thing sitting on your settee at home with a glass of Wine watching it, and quite another thing enduring it.
I think they have shown remarkable good humour and tolerance so far.

There's a few there that I wouldn't mind watching my back. And even the young long haired one I think could be productive with some nurturing. It looks like he may be going-I hope he doesn't.

Every pair of hands is someone to continually look for firewood, keep the fire, and boil water, if nothing else, and provides all with a greater chance for rest.

Next week.... who knows? other than there will something

Next week we find out exactly how dehydrated and starving men have to be before they stop wanking and wibbling on about "titties" and focus their energies on staying alive.

Presumably the crew have a good tent and massive cooler full of food and a fresh water supply.

My 10 year old wants to watch this. With it being after the watershed can anyone watching it please tell me if it is suitable for her? She is very sensible but I still wouldn't want her watching anything with swearing or nudity in.

Report
BeCool · 15/05/2014 14:45

Blu there aren't any crew.
They are trained to film it themselves.

Report
FoxSticks · 15/05/2014 15:35

There's lota swearing and blokes talking about masturbating and women so probably not great for your 10 year old.

Report
Itsfab · 15/05/2014 17:11

Thank you. She will not be happy.

Considering she has been horrible today I am not unduly bothered but will have DH tell her.

Its - my almost 10 year old wants to watch it.

Absolutely no chance!

Do people actually believe this is anything other than staged? I personally think the producers should be prosecuted for animal cruelty. Trust me there is a crew of medics on hand and probably a regular dominos delivery. Its a crock of shit. It was actually laughable until the bit with the camen - i wont be watching it again, vile.

Report
FoxSticks · 15/05/2014 19:26

I believe it's real Blush

I accept it will have been edited to add to the drama, but I do believe that they are alone on the island. There must be a way of contacting the production team and maybe the tapes are sent daily to make sure they aren't eating each other but I don't think it's staged. Does that make me a bit fick?

Vivacia · 15/05/2014 19:34

I'm with Fox.

Why would they fake it Lem?

Next you'll be telling me that wrestling is staged....

Report
LEMmingaround · 15/05/2014 20:11

I would say the wrestling is far less likely to be staged than this crock of shit on the TV. Can you imagine the insurance costs?? seriously

Report
