Book and tv series spoilers allowed.

OP posts:
BelleOfTheBorstal · 09/06/2014 13:40

No dead Tywin? Sad
In the books, Ygritte dies in Jon Snurr's arms. Yes, major spoiler, I know!
Seriously, a whole episode at the wall? Slightly dull...

anonacfr · 09/06/2014 13:45

I don't know. For some bizarre reason I have developed a thing for Snurr in this series.
I would console him too. Grin

FolknNorah · 09/06/2014 14:06

Did she mention wotshername with baby?
Am excited to watch now, although I can't be all oooohh aaaahhhh like I want as DH will be watching too and I cannot spoil it.
Selfless I am., selfless.

MTWTFSS · 09/06/2014 16:11

BelleOfTheBorstal It is 100% not dull!!!

ZenGardener · 09/06/2014 19:30

I was just thinking that it's Monday and I haven't watched GoT yet!! Can't wait!!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 09/06/2014 19:37

No not dull! I've been waiting all series for this episode.

My summary (small spoilers for tonights episode below)

Tormund - yay!
Thorne - also yay! I like Show!Thorne better than Book!Thorne but could probably write an essay on why so I'll save it.
Slynt - bastard!
Pyp, Grenn, Edd and Sam - I love them all.
Ygritte/Jon - boring
Can't wait for Stannis' appearance.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 09/06/2014 19:39

polyhymnia thanks Grin You a Mika fan too?

buffythebarbieslayer · 09/06/2014 21:02

What Dragon attack? Don't remember that in books

Dornishwine · 09/06/2014 21:15

Just off to my sisters now to watch (she has sky thank god)
:)

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 09/06/2014 21:20

Drogon eats a child which leads to Dany having to lock away her dragons, except Drogon who no-one can catch.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2014 21:38

I'm not liking this episode. Sorry, too much fighting. Not enough plot.

YoniMitchell · 09/06/2014 21:46

Is anyone else finding it hard to actually see with it all being so bloody dark?

YoniMitchell · 09/06/2014 21:47

Miffed we have to wait another week to find out what's going to happen with Tyrion.

VivaLeBeaver · 09/06/2014 21:47

Yes!

AryaOfHouseSnark · 09/06/2014 22:04

I really liked it. Very exciting, not as good as blackwater though. I wasn't expecting Grenn and Pyp to dieSad.

Not too sure why Tormund Giantsbane has been taken prisoner...?

Trills · 09/06/2014 22:24

Jon Snow is a bit of a boring character though, isn't he?

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 09/06/2014 22:30

Trills - how dare you say that Grin

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 09/06/2014 22:36

I like it tonight and it was visually amazing. I loved it when they released that thing that looked like an anchor off the wall. Ygritte's death was a bit more sentimental than in the book but I suppose that's to be expected on a TV adaptation.

So next week, what do you predict? Lots to cram in so I think we may be left with a cliff hanger? It looks like Bran and his gang will be in the episode as its called 'the children' so we can guess what that is referring to. Perhaps they will leave uncat until the next series?

Dornishwine · 09/06/2014 22:37

Oh! :(
Jons face when he saw ygritte :(
Fab episode.
Can't wait for next week!!
Eek!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 09/06/2014 22:51

There's no Val and no sign of Val ever appearing so Tormund will likely take her place as the liaison between the wall and the wildings.

Next week... Stannis kicks arse.

BelleOfTheBorstal · 10/06/2014 02:19

It was good, but I am annoyed about having to wait another seven days before Tyrion's fate is decided and Tywin gets his just desserts
And I am not sure how I will survive a whole year without UnCat.
Do we really have to wait a whole twelve months before the next season? Even six months seems unnecessarily harsh!
Anyone know when the next book is being released?

RonaldMcDonald · 10/06/2014 02:32

I was so blardy bored with this episode. The wall is my least favourite bit. Jon Snow isn't my cup of char he looks so perfect even after having his face smashed against an anvil and the fat guy doesn't do it for me. I need something a bit more

Interesting that the old guy is a Taegerean

hildasmuriel · 10/06/2014 08:07

I really enjoyed it, I thought it was good to spend time with characters rather than jumping about. It felt like watching a proper war film with the build up of how characters behave leading up to it and moments of sadness and comradeship. I liked how Set Alliser, who has always been seen as a complete arse, was shown as a proper leader in the battle and we eben saw insight into why he behaves as he does.

The only bit I did miss was that, I am sure in the books they have a massive battering ram at the gate, this seems more spectacular ram (turtle) at the gates. This seems more realistic than even a mammoth and giant being able to storm it. I think it sets alight and then blocks the gate.

I really don't know if we will see Uncat. We still have much at the wall and the Tyrion stuff to play out.

hildasmuriel · 10/06/2014 08:08

I hope they don't dispense with Val otherwise later stories about her's and Gilly's babies won't make sense.

FolknNorah · 10/06/2014 10:39

I reckon we're done at the wall, Jon going off into the white fade out seemed like a 'until next time folks' moment for me.
We have bran and Tyrion and I guess children could mean Dany's dragons too.
I agree leaving out Val will screw up the baby switcheroo storyline later.
