Just watched it -finally. I really liked it. The trial by combat was really good, glad they kept it as close to the book as possible. I hid behind a cushion at the end though.
Really looking forward to the battle now.

Dornishwine · 07/06/2014 20:37

Omg, I can't even remember what happened In The battle!!
I think I might be in for some shocks!
:(

AryaOfHouseSnark · 07/06/2014 21:28

You know nothing DornishWine Wink

Dornishwine · 07/06/2014 21:31

:)
I am re reading but I won't get to the end by Monday...

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/06/2014 22:06

ooh the battle is good in the book. Do you reckon that they'll keep to the book regarding Ygritte's fate? She's more popular in the TV series.

FolknNorah · 07/06/2014 22:12

Hmm, they'll have to kill her off won't they? I'm hoping to see Tywin die on the shitter before the end of this series/season/whatevs. I've been teasing all my Unsullied friends and DH about how there are more deaths to come and possibly the return of some one back into the story UnCat . Grin

polyhymnia · 07/06/2014 22:35

Can someone who understands - specially all you book experts - please sum up for me very briefly what Bailish's motive/s are for killing Joffrey and bringing Sansa to the Vale.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 07/06/2014 22:58

He's just climbing the ladder and playing the game. And he fancies Sansa.

Plus, Sansa is looking like the heir to Winterfell (everyone assumes Bran and Rickon are dead) so Baelish is collecting kingdoms. Harrenhal, the Eyrie... next stop Winterfell.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/06/2014 23:02

I thought he wanted to kill Joffrey because Joffrey was a sadist, evil little bastard who was really mean to the daughter of the love of his life which also explains why he brought Sansa to the vale.
Although on a political level, I think he wants Sansa as she is now the eldest Stark child and set to inherit Winterfell so if he has control of Sansa she is a useful pawn in the game. Obviously he is unaware that Bran and Rickon aren't really dead.
In the book, he discusses a marriage proposal for Sansa to marry 'Harry the heir' who is known as such because if anything happens to sweet Robin (who lets face it, is not going to last very long), he is next in line to become lord of the Vale. In the book, it explains how harry the heir is next in line through some very convoluted family history.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/06/2014 23:04

Do we reckon Tywin's a gonna in the next episode or will they leave that little classic moment for the last episode. In the past 2 series the real shocker is in the penultimate episode so I'm expecting it on Monday but not sure how they are going to fit it all in with the battle as well. It may well be an action packed episode.

polyhymnia · 07/06/2014 23:44

Thanks - thought it had something to do with his desire for world domination but hadn't worked out exactly the motives .

polyhymnia · 07/06/2014 23:46

Love your name btw pourquoi.

BelleOfTheBorstal · 08/06/2014 00:04

Cannot wait for Tywin to die, please oh gods, both new and old, let it happen on Monday!
I an slightly confused, in regards to the books, what is happening with Brienne. In her last p.o.v chapter, oit ends with her being hung by UnCat(who I am also anticipating eagerly) but then Jaime vanishes off with Brienne, apparently, after she has been hung.
Anyone got any clever ideas as to what that is all about.
Where was Varys during the trial by combat? Was he watching?

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 08/06/2014 01:35

Belle - I think George left us hanging (get the pun) with Brienne's storyline. I assumed she ended up not being hung but I guess we'll have to wait and find out.

AryaOfHouseSnark · 08/06/2014 07:54

I think the whole episode will be about the battle at the wall. Ygritte will die in Jons arms at the end
Tywin will die in the last episode, along with Shae.
not too sure how they will do the un cat reveal, if Brienne finds her now then we are almost in uncharted territory for her story.

FolknNorah · 08/06/2014 09:13

Yes, I almost threw my book across the room when it looked like Brienne was hanged.
And then she seemed to just reappear unless I was so traumatised I've misremembered it all Confused Grin extremely likely

hildasmuriel · 08/06/2014 09:27

I wonder if they will contrast Tywin dieing and the battle in the next episode as that is a reshuffle of all the cards. It would be fabulous if they just concentrated on those events. There has been much less flipping between locations in this series.

Episode 10 could then be the traditional reorientation as to where everyone is at with a massive shocking reveal at the end.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 08/06/2014 09:37

yes, Ygritte dieing in Jon's arms seems fitting and I agree they will just focus on the battle - just seems too much to cram everything in that episode.
We first meet uncat when Beric Dordorrian's (?spelling) group have captured some freys and have arranged a meeting to ransom them.
She doesn't meet Brienne until much later.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 08/06/2014 10:13

dieing haha dying! its early on a sunday morning!

MTWTFSS · 09/06/2014 09:44

hildasmuriel · 09/06/2014 09:58

Very excited for tonight. Have heard it is set wholly at the wall.

Lostinasupermarket · 09/06/2014 11:49

It was a good episode.

MrsBeeee · 09/06/2014 13:32
