Book and tv series spoilers allowed.

OP posts:
Dornishwine · 06/06/2014 21:21

That's pretty much my take on it all too MrsB.
Oh! I know what I wanted to ask...
How are we all feeling about the "new" dario naheris??

Dornishwine · 06/06/2014 21:23

You know which character I can't stand?
Caitlin stark.
Any fool would realise a man of honour like ned would never cheat fgs!
And taking tyrion prisoner!?
Trusting baelish!! (Not entirely comfortable with his interest in Sansa...)
It's her fault robb is dead!

AryaOfHouseSnark · 06/06/2014 21:47

Oh I don't know, I don't mind her, despite how mean she was to the Snuuuur.
She made some really silly moves, taking Tyrion prisoner was seriously misguided and Jory and the rest of the Northern lot that died did as a result of that, not that I think she is to blame - she didn't swing the sword. Wink
Robb is dead because he couldn't keep his cock in his breeches.

Little finger is to blame for all of it - the bastard.

MrsBeeee · 06/06/2014 21:48

New Dario is easier on the eye, but a bit nicer than he should be. Why could they not stick with the books view she liked a bit of rough?!

I did like Caitlin though. But very pleased she is not a zombie in the show. That bit was just odd. Idk, I would have given Ned a hard time if he wouldn't confide in me. Thought the worst and all that. Not Jon's fault though.

AryaOfHouseSnark · 06/06/2014 22:01

Shock isn't uncat going to be in the show ? I loved that part of the story Grin
Yes I would have been pissed of with Ned, he completely shut her out about it and refused to discuss it. I think if she had actually given it some thought after she grew to know and love Ned and know how honourable he was , then maybe she would have realised, but by then she was so resentful about it that she couldn't. And let's face it, you wouldn't assume your husbands illegitimate son was his sisters, especially if he told you he was his.

MrsBeeee · 06/06/2014 22:11

Tell you who I love. Brienne. Just brilliant. Better fighter than all the boys and falls in love with the wrong man. More than once. If GRRM does happy endings then her and Jaime repopulate Castlerly Rock and live to a ripe old age. He doesn't though does he?

And Dornish. DornOb? Dornvoc. Obvs. Sorry!

AryaOfHouseSnark · 06/06/2014 22:16

Brienne is brilliant, she can't die, so she probably will Sad
I would love to see her and Jaime at Catserly Rock, where would Tyrion go though ?

anonacfr · 06/06/2014 23:18

I have this crazy theory that the White Walkers have come back because the dragons have. The only way to get rid of the White Walkers would be to kill the dragons. After all they nearly kill their 'mother' Daenerys anyway, it's not like they're loyal to their masters like the lovely dire wolves.

anonacfr · 06/06/2014 23:19

Did I mention I wanted a direwolf? Ghost is gorgeous.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/06/2014 01:20

I love Brienne too and the actress is brilliant in the show - really brings some depth to her character. I am expecting uncat to be revealed at the end of this series as timing seems about right. I must admit I'm loving hearing all the comments in RL about whether Tyrion will die or not from those who haven't read the books, but I've been really good and not let it slip!

hildasmuriel · 07/06/2014 07:59

anon I have always assumed that the white walkers and the dragons coming back is linked in some way, some stirrings of a supernatural force or something.

I think uncat will be the final scene of the series, a serious what the fuck moment for non book readers, just as it was for book readers in the book.

I am quite enjoying listening to speculation from those who haven't read books, it's hard not to slip up though especially as things happening that were not in the books or are very different.

How do book readers reconcile differences in the books and programmes? In my head the books are the facts, the programme is an interpretation of them for TV in sort of the same way that The Tudors was an interpretation of their story for TV albeit that GOT sticks, by and large, very closely to the books and is a very high quality interpretation. That said characters in the TV programme have by and large imposed their TV persona on how i see the characters. Perhaps I have spent too much time pondering this....

Dornishwine · 07/06/2014 09:36

Yes, I think uncat will be unveiled in the final scenes.
Love brienne!
Which means she is doomed sadly :(
Hate baelish....he started it ALL.
Also, hope walder Frey, roose and Ramsey Bolton meet a horrible end. Bastards.
I feel very conflicted about cersei. She is pretty evil, but....I can't help admiring her in a way. She is a victim of her fathers plotting just as much as jaime and tyrion. She is a queen and yet has no real power now her father is hand.
Hmmm....

MrsBeeee · 07/06/2014 10:31

Oh yes Tyrion. But he is too good a character and brain to just be Lord of Castlerly Rock. Kings Hand?

Also wishing evil endings to the Boltons and Walder Frey.

anonacfr · 07/06/2014 10:45

I think Cersei is a victim of circumstances but ultimately she is hard and cold. Unlike Jaime who is actually a pretty decent character (in the books anyway).

I am wondering what they are going to do with the rest of the series though. I do find the books drifted after Tyrion escaped from KL. Dany's storyline went from bad to boring and the whole Targaryen pretender who ends up killed by the dragon was such a waste of time.
The problem the books have is that Martin basically killed off all the interesting characters and introduced a whole lot of new tedious one.

I want more Stark/Snow storylines. And also Davos and The Hound. And Varys. It would also be nice to see Gendry again. And little Rickon seems to have disappeared off the face of Westeros.
Basically I am more interested in the North than the South.

I also want to see (or read about) Cersei's face when she finds out that aside from Robb all the Stark kids are in fact alive and well.

And I don't think Dany should ever become queen (if she survives the dragon attack). It wouldn't take her long to turn into her uncle.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/06/2014 10:48

hilda I think much the same way as you in that the books are facts. Although some of the changes I've quite liked, in particular, the way they merged characters to simplify the number of characters, e.g. Edric Storm's role taken over by Gendry. I get the feeling that when we finally get to read book 6 we will see that they've pulled down bits in information from that and already put them into the TV series, such as Sansa become more of a player.
I think they've done a fantastic interpretation of the main characters and except for that rape scene with Jaime, which is credit to the actors and directors/producers/

Dornishwine · 07/06/2014 11:05

Yeah, that rape scene was just weird. Why add it?
I would love to see tyrion and Sansa rule casterly rock. And for Sansa to appreciate tyrion for who he is.
I would like to see gendry and arya rule the iron throne - Robert wanted is and neds children to marry.
And jon and dany rule the north? Not sure. Would dany go for that? Will she end up mad like the rest of the targaryans? Rheagar wasn't mad though, was he?
Never gonna happen though.
GRRM isn't interested in happy endings.
If he kills off too many of the popular characters people will cease to care.

ZenGardener · 07/06/2014 11:41

Both Aiden Gillen and Lena Headly (sp?) have posted hints on Twitter that Stoneheart will make an appearance.

hildasmuriel · 07/06/2014 11:54

Sansa is becoming a player so much more than I remember in the books, as Aleyne she still seemed much more compliant albeit testing out having some power over sappy Robin. I agree that the show will be revealed to have picked out stuff from later books to the extent that the show is now spoilery for the books. I am expecting Sansa now to cast off Aleyne and become a real player, I would love her to realise about Tyrion, they are still married too after all.

I think Rickon will appear and be very important, I don't know where Arya's storyline will take her in the long run.

ZenGardener · 07/06/2014 12:21

Did anyone read Arya's chapter in the next book? I wonder if everyone on her list will die?

VivaLeBeaver · 07/06/2014 12:26

I think Jon and Dany will end up joining forces and getting the iron throne.

hildasmuriel · 07/06/2014 12:32

I won

hildasmuriel · 07/06/2014 12:32

AryaOfHouseSnark · 07/06/2014 15:46

I haven't read read any of the sample chapters yet, I might do when we eventually get a release date for TWOW. For me it would be too much like only having a few sips of my favourite wine, I would much rather guzzle the whole bottle Grin

AryaOfHouseSnark · 07/06/2014 15:48

Oh yes and I saw Lena Headlys Stoneheart. Definitely a hint there, I am sure I read that she has read the hooks.
