Just marking my place because I lost this threadSmile

mistymeanour · 13/05/2014 11:01

I always wondered if Shae was a "plant" right from the start by Varys. In the books he seems to help her set up "meetings" with Tyrion - even I think in his won bedroom (why?) Was she one of his little birds?

anonacfr · 13/05/2014 12:31

I thought she might have been a plant by Tywin to show his son that he can still manipulate him-just like he did with his first wife.

nipersvest · 13/05/2014 12:43

now that its up to episode 6, what does everyone think the season finale will be?, will it be a dany scene again or something else?

mistymeanour · 13/05/2014 13:20

A battle at Castleblack between the Nightswatch and Ygritte with the Wildlings ( with Stannis to the rescue ?) and Tyrion escaping in Kings Landing.

I think the Oberyn Martell duel will be in the next 1 or 2 episodes.

On Ramsay - I thought his father had told him to go and take (forget the name) some outpost that was blocking his way to the riverlands a few episodes back ? If he needs Theon now do you think they are going to head for winterfell and the fake (Sansa) marriage?

TunipTheUnconquerable · 13/05/2014 13:24

The episode titles are quite cluefull.
Still to come, we have:

E07: Mockingbird,
E08: The Mountain and the Viper,
E09: The Watchers on the Wall,
E10: The Children

anonacfr · 13/05/2014 16:05

Marriage is with fake Arya and I distinctly remember in the books he get Reek to shag his wife.
Not quite going to be able to do that anymore.

Wouldn't it be cool if the last episode was a montage of Tywin and Ygritte being killed?

TunipTheUnconquerable · 13/05/2014 16:22

He doesn't quite make Reek shag Fake Arya, he makes him get her ready for him to shag

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 13/05/2014 16:24

Yes it's oral sex I think.

anonacfr · 13/05/2014 17:40

Eeeew that's a horrible thought. Answers my question though. Poor little Jeyne.

AryaOfHouseSnark · 13/05/2014 17:55

Yes that scene was awful, I just read re read it actually and it really made me cringe.

Still haven't seen it as our bastard sky went down.
Dts are having an early night, so hopefully it won't be long.

ZenGardener · 14/05/2014 06:28

I actually find the TV show easier going than the books. The Ransey scenes were awful to read.

AryaOfHouseSnark · 14/05/2014 09:07

They were, I especially found them talking about the hunts hard reading. It really stuck in my mind.
In fact when I go for a walk in a Forrest or wood I think about what I would do, if I would try and hide or run. The sheer panic the women must have felt would have been awful.

hildasmuriel · 14/05/2014 09:27

I agree the book scenes with Ramsay are some of the most chilling things I have ever read, his sheer evilness made me cringe and the degradation of Theon so horrible. I think books can always affect you in a way that film can't as the picture in your head can be so vivid and there is more room for working out your own reaction and it sticking with you as arya describes above.

That said I do think they are doing a fine job at portraying the unhingedness (sure not really a word) of Ramsey and the complete degradation of Theon.

And I still cannot get Tyrion's face when he saw Shae in the witness box out of my head.

Such great acting all round, they've chosen the cast very well.

I think the book benefitted from being more able to reveal this stuff over time as the realisation of who Reek is. They did similar with Jeyne Poole and hints at what had happened to her.

ZenGardener · 14/05/2014 16:28

Here is an interview with the actress that plays Shae.

Tomorrows or tonight's episode if your in the US is mockingbird. So we will see "only Cat" and see Lyssa make a sharp exit out of the moon door.

I am wondering, hoping, if this will be the perfect time to meet Lady Stoneheart. I know it's early, but the next few episodes are going to be packed, next week will obviously be the trial and the week after that a battle at castle black.

I will be really disappointed if they cut her, showing Berric being brought back will make no sense if they don't, so I have got my fingers x.

ZenGardener · 19/05/2014 13:14

Three more episodes to go!!

I have watched Mockingbird. I liked it!

The scenes between Arya and The Hound are so great. I loved the little appearance of Biter and Rorge and Hot Pie.

I really liked the line in the books about if I wanted wit, I'd have married you. Glad they kept it in Smile

Still disappointed with the new Dhario even though I have to admit he looked good naked. He just doesn't have the same cockiness.

ZenGardener · 19/05/2014 13:17

Ps. No GoTs next week due to a holiday in the US. Is that right?

mistymeanour · 19/05/2014 16:01

yes! Wah wah wah

ThreeLannistersOneTargaryen · 19/05/2014 21:54

I really liked Mockingbird.

Cooroo · 19/05/2014 22:04

Fantastic episode. Tyrion had wonderful and touching scenes with Jaime, Bron and Oberyn. Loved the road buddies as usual - Brienne/Pod and Arya/Hound. And fabulous stuff at the Eyrie. Even enjoyed the Dany/Dario/Jorah triangle. Hardly a wrong move in this ep - only reservation was the Mountain scene - does he need to practise on cowering underlings or does he just enjoy it?

hildasmuriel · 20/05/2014 08:06

I really liked this episode too, not much happened but lots of time spent with great characters.

I didn't really like the moon door scene. It was much more dramatic in the book. Sansa is so tall I found it hard to believe Lysa could overpower her and it felt rushed, I think it would have been better to let the Jon Arryn revelation come out then. Littlefinger was so callous and cool though when he pushed Lysa, that felt just like he would be.

So many big events left though... And no fix next week!

ZenGardener · 20/05/2014 08:46

I'm curious to see what will happen to The Hound as there was speculation that he didn't really die in the books. I wonder if the TV show will give us any hints.

I'm guessing Peter Dinklage will be up for some more acting awards.

I think the guy who plays Oberyn is really good too though.

hildasmuriel · 02/06/2014 22:20

More deviation from the books with the Sansa stuff, I wondered how they would deal with no Marillion to blame.

There is a lot to pack in to 2 episodes.

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 02/06/2014 22:48

They are definitely deviating with Sansa from the book but I'm sure I read that her next POV chapter has been released or at least hinted at and wonder if its this which is influencing the change. I haven't read any of the extra chapters he has published - thought I'd wait until the whole book is finally published.
I thought it worked without Marillion and it meant once less character to deal with. Also I had to watch the fight scene from the kitchen and it was as definitely as gruesome as I imagined. Good episode all round.
