I just saw the trailer and got really excited then, I remembered Sad. I can't imagine Don in the 70's! Will he still be married? How old will he be now?

He did look rather attractive! I wasn't struck on Joan's boots or the colour of Peggy's outfits. Off to read Tom and Lorenzo Grin

Lighthousekeeping · 01/05/2014 16:05

I'm not keen on the fashions from that era anyway. I'm not sure what he's up to. Btw, can someone tell he, the boy who went yo the farm is Dons son isn't he? He doesn't seem any older end compared to Sally who has really grown up. How old are the meant to be?

Just finished reading MadStyle for this week's episode.

"All they need is a van and a Great Dane with a speech impediment to complete the picture."

Does anyone else feel sick about the last season of Mad Men?
IdaBlankenship · 02/05/2014 18:25

Sorrel I did an actual LOL when I read T&L.

I think I may love Stan, his beard is so fulsome

SorrelForbes · 02/05/2014 18:39

Me too! I may have even guffawed!

I'm warming to Stan but he'll never have my heart. His flares are worrying me.

IdaBlankenship · 02/05/2014 19:06

I just like the way he is with Peggy - how he offered her his hand when she stood up last week. Just the little gestures and looks that makes me hope they will end up together.
His flares like his facial hair are splendid.

MarshaBrady · 03/05/2014 14:59

Very good. Amazed Don accepted the terms for his return.

SquidgyMummy · 03/05/2014 15:19

TLO review was fab!
Why has Don gone back to Sterling Cooper when he had a great offer on the table from the other (hipper) agency? Is he planning some sort of revenge, or just can't stay away.

Betty is so strange. I think she genuinely wants to be a good mother and doesn't understand why she keeps failing. Is Bobby was thrilled she came on his farm trip, was a "cool mom" drinking the fresh milk from the bucket, then confused him by wanting to eat her sandwich he was probably expecting her to smoke then forcing him to eat his sweets. I do feel for her kids.

MarshaBrady · 03/05/2014 15:20

I really felt for Bobby, she was pretty mean and cold to him.

Doshusallie · 04/05/2014 15:42

Omigod how much weight has Joan lost??????

CrispyFern · 09/05/2014 22:31

Just seen the last episode you were discussing. Love seeing Betty being awful to her son just like she was to her daughter. She's so miserable.
Why on earth would Don agree to those terms?! He is going to end up with nothing, no partnership, no money, they just want him to trip up! He won't be able to stay on a script agreed by Lou in meetings! No Don, no! Just go live with Megan! Why wouldn't he go live in California where he wants to be with his wife who he loves?

IdaBlankenship · 10/05/2014 21:33

It becomes clearer in this ep CrispyFern, he feels that he built SCDP, so he can't leave it.

He was a sweaty mess this week. I loved old Freddy covering for him and giving him the talk.
I want Don and Peggy to get their spark back together - it was an interesting power dynamic when she called him into her office. Nice moment with her and Joan too.

Great Roger / Margeret story too - she would be the last person I would have predicted to embrace the counter culture movement. Interesting that Roger couldn't bear the thought of her indulging in free love when it seems he has been pretty happy doing the exact same thing in his hotel rooms.

Lighthousekeeping · 10/05/2014 22:19

I love the fact that Roger is married to Mona in real life. Lucky woman first George Clooney and then John Slattery I prefer the latter

IdaBlankenship · 10/05/2014 22:36

I did not know that Lighthouse. Nice fact!
I would like to imagine them dressed as their characters at home having breakfast - Mona with her furs and air of disdain, whilst Roger tilts a rakish eyebrow over his scrambled eggs Smile

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 14/05/2014 23:00

Oh that was so sad! Sad

Lighthousekeeping · 15/05/2014 00:14

I know!

Wow Megan's true colours came out. I did think that Don was back on form by the end. In a good way.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 15/05/2014 09:05

Megan did not come across well. I've never been a fan but that was a different side to her.

Missed Pete though.

Lighthousekeeping · 15/05/2014 09:52

I didn't miss any of the others. I was glued to it.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 15/05/2014 09:55

I wasn't keen on that one, not sure why. Don has lost his oomph. Although maybe he'll get it back with the smokes.

Nancy66 · 15/05/2014 12:02

feels like the show is desperately running out of steam - have always been massive fan but struggling to stay with it right now.

MarshaBrady · 15/05/2014 12:29

Yep me too.

IdaBlankenship · 16/05/2014 21:08

I really enjoyed that episode. I think the show has more momentum now than it did last season when Don had that interminable affair with Sylvia.
Oh poor Ginsberg and poor old desperate Megan trying to cling on to her failing marriage.
I loved Don at the end, he is magnetic when he is on form. It was a great Fuck You to Lou and Jim when he put them in the cab. I hope he gets his mojo back in the office.
It really feels like characters are hurtling towards their fate.

somewherewest · 21/05/2014 19:54

Anyone seen the most recent episode ('The Strategy') yet?

Lighthousekeeping · 21/05/2014 19:57

It's on tonight

How good was last nights episode!
