Does anyone else feel sick about the last season of Mad Men?

I just saw the trailer and got really excited then, I remembered Sad. I can't imagine Don in the 70's! Will he still be married? How old will he be now?

Sharon Tate got murdered in 69 so maybe that will feature. They can't have that happen to Megan when it really did happen that year.

Ahoy! Glad I've found you.

Remember lots of you from last time Grin

Tom and Lorenzo's Mad Style post is up now too. Love it!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 17/04/2014 07:40

Tom and Lorenzo was marvellous as always!

MerdeAlor · 17/04/2014 08:39

Ok just watched it.

Magnificent.

So Don is trying to hang on to his marriage but Megan has moved on from him. The only place they can recapture any of their spark is in the bedroom and Megan was reluctant as she doesn't love him anymore.

That will be hard for Don to handle, especially as he's desperately trying to hold on to this old idea of himself as a successful advertising exec with a beautiful wife.
Meanwhile, he can replicate intimacy on the plane because those seats are like a bed to him and he can switch on the charm and mystery. She got his number straight away and still wanted him.

Poor old Peggy, she's so tired of fighting- to produce quality at work when no one else cares, fighting her love for what's his name, fighting with her tenants. She's lonely and she wants to stop fighting and have someone take care of her for a change.

Roger? WTF? He needs an epiphany and his daughters forgiveness may just set that in motion.

Fuck, I love Madmen. What will I do when it finishes?

MarshaBrady · 17/04/2014 08:52

Brilliant. Back on form, I wasn't so keen on all the dream stuff last time.

I forgot everything, took me a while to remember Don wasn't at work, why Peggy was back in same agency and people in LA.

Has Peggy broken up with her bf?

Nancy66 · 17/04/2014 10:30

I loved it too.

this isn't a spoiler because I'm only guessing but I wonder if the opening title figure of a man throwing himself off a building may come to mean something....

Lighthousekeeping · 17/04/2014 11:59

Well, his downfall I reckon. Don't think it will be him jumping. That would be too obvious.

I don't think he'll commit suicide. I don't think Megan = Sharon Tate either.

T&L mentioned it on their blog; the comment about Megan's teeth, how she provokes strong reactions in people. Matthew whatshisface (the writer) is including the viewer in on the joke. Joke is probably the wrong word but ykwim.

Peggy and Abe split up in Season 6 Marsha. Didn't she stab him with a bayonet or something? Confused

Nancy66 · 17/04/2014 12:23

what is Don's situation? it's been too long a gap between last series and this that I can't recall. He is suspended because of his drinking?

MarshaBrady · 17/04/2014 12:38

That's right Pete, I've forgotten so much, love the name btw Grin

Nancy I think it was because he was bad with clients and lost a couple of good ones. Can't remember what he did, but he lost a couple.

MarshaBrady · 17/04/2014 12:38

um yep twice

Nancy66 · 17/04/2014 12:43

I've checked on wiki now - it was the Hershey's pitch where he lost the plot a bit and told all the clients about growing up in a whore house!

Nancy66 · 17/04/2014 12:45

BTW I was in TK maxx yesterday and they have London Fog umbrellas !

Lighthousekeeping · 17/04/2014 13:33

Which tk maxx?

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 17/04/2014 13:46

Clapham Junction one

Lighthousekeeping · 17/04/2014 14:01

They've got the luggage online. Miles cheaper than on their own website. Funny colours though.

I've just managed to watch it and I thought it was a fantastic episode. Hardly a character that I didn't feel sorry/empathy for (apart from Megan who annoys me).

Pete, those trousers...

IdaBlankenship · 17/04/2014 21:28

Okay I've watched it now so I can safely come on to this thread.

Oh Pete was glorious in this episode - I loved seeing him all tanned and boyish with enthusiasm.

I don't like Don being away from the office, he has no focus and spark without the work. I am glad he turned Neve Campbell down as I was thinking 'here we go again' when she sat next to him.

I loved Joan's handling of the shoe situation. She has such a good understanding of the advertising business, she could wipe the floor with young Mr MBA upstart.

Roger and free love - ha!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 17/04/2014 21:30

Are you referring to these trousers? Grin

IdaBlankenship · 17/04/2014 21:37

Oh Pete - you light up my life!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 17/04/2014 21:58

I was thrilled when Pete appeared last night. I hope they continue dressing him like that.

Think this is still the best Pete moment. Grin

IdaBlankenship · 17/04/2014 22:04

What about the Pete & Trudy charleston? Surely that's gotta be up there!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 17/04/2014 22:14

That's 2nd. Nothing will beat him falling down the stairs.

IdaBlankenship · 17/04/2014 22:24

They could do a little spin-off show of Pete's adventures in LA, a little light relief from the serious world of Mad Men. He could sport a lot of natty sports casual wear and take the viewer around his favourite spots - obviously we have already seen his favourite diner and favourite sandwich filling..

Clayhead · 17/04/2014 22:27

I think Pete's the best character. Not likeable but so compelling.
