I just saw the trailer and got really excited then, I remembered Sad. I can't imagine Don in the 70's! Will he still be married? How old will he be now?

I could watch that clip of Pete falling down the stairs over and over (in fact, I am). He is adorable.

I really started to dislike Don during the last series but I felt for him during this episode. He has nothing to do except eat sandwiches.

How did people wear such short dresses and manage to not flash their knickers?

Joan, Peggy, Roger, Stan, Ken, it's so lovely to see you all again.

bantamgirl · 19/04/2014 21:07

I've never got round to watching it so I have treated myself to Series 1. it was only a fiver in CEX

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 23/04/2014 21:46

Anyone staying up tonight to watch?

Lighthousekeeping · 23/04/2014 21:59

Yes. I'm just letting it record for five minutes so I can get a g and t!

I shall have to hide you all away until tomorrow night then. La la laaa I can't hear you

Shirley and Dawn are a great comedy duo.

Lou is awful, but I love how he seems old fashioned even for the age, very clever.

Poor lonely Peggy.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 23/04/2014 22:45

No one is very nice really are they?

Maybe Dawn.

Lighthousekeeping · 23/04/2014 23:02

All the door symbols are getting on my nerves. When's Betty going to be back in it?

This seemed to be like a 'setting up episode' for things to come.

Don has actually started being more open with his daughter. He thought she wouldn't like the real him, but what happens when he shows his true colours? she says she loves him!

Even though it seems like Don is falling apart, he really isn't. He's controlling his alcohol intake, he's keeping track with business and he's opening up to people. I'm pleased for him.

How humiliating for Peggy but she behaved so ungraciously to everyone for the whole episode. She's lonely and resentful.

I reckon Pete will start up a new business in California and Peggy and Don will go and work with him. At least I hope so.

California must play a big role in how this series wraps up otherwise they wouldn't be setting all this up..

ohmymimi · 24/04/2014 13:59

I've just started rewatching Season 1. Season 7 Box Set will be my Christmas treat, so I'm avoiding any potential spoilers.

IdaBlankenship · 24/04/2014 14:40

Hoorah for Joan and Dawn - their own offices (and one on the second floor no less).
Pete has really met his match in Bonnie - she seems unlikely to tolerate Pete whining, so she may be the making of him.
I really want Peggy to realise that Stan and his beard is the man for her - which means it is never going to happen. Somehow I can't see the series going for happy ever after for all the characters.

MerdeAlor · 24/04/2014 15:52

Ida I'm so desperate for it to end positively for Peggy. I hope something will make her realise that the right man who loves her for what she truly is - is right under her nose. She's been a spectacular character throughout, a feminist before her time. I'd be so pleased if she got together with Stan.

Yes Bonnie actually understands Pete and doesn't tolerate his bullshit. I hope Pete doesn't fuck it up..he has form!

IdaBlankenship · 24/04/2014 16:31

When they kissed last season, I was really happy Smile.
It would be sad if the two women who succeed at work (Joan & Peggy) have to do so at the expense of happy personal lives.

SorrelForbes · 24/04/2014 22:07

Another great episode with lots of Pete GrinBlush. But, poor Peggy.

SquidgyMummy · 27/04/2014 19:12

I like the Harry Hamlin character (Jim?). He seems really decent, and threatened by Joan as an equal. I am so happy that she has moved upstairs and Dawn has her own office, so I'm guessing Joan's HR responsibilities.

Poor old peggy, she is not her usual forthright self this series, just like some kind of 6thformer must be the convent school uniform type clothes with boyfriend problems.

Speaking of clothes, and facial hair they are really not flattering in the late 60's. Only Meghan in California looked good, and of course Don, as he is still stuck in the 50's.

IdaBlankenship · 27/04/2014 20:20

Jim would make a fearsome adversary as he seems pretty steely, however Roger is no pushover regardless of his flippant persona.
I love how Joan's career has been forged through throwaway acts or point scoring by the senior men in the firm, despite her obvious talents in advertising. It makes it more realistic.

Lighthousekeeping · 30/04/2014 22:08

Anyone going to watch tonight?

OP posts:
PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 30/04/2014 22:15

I'm here. Hopefully I won't fall asleep!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 30/04/2014 22:45

Loving this episode so far!

SorrelForbes · 30/04/2014 23:11

Me too! What is Don up to? Does he even know?

Lighthousekeeping · 30/04/2014 23:31

Love it when it's back to the old Mad Men! As soon as I saw Betty my heart soared.

OP posts:
PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 30/04/2014 23:32

I like to think he has a plan but it's more likely he's so desperate he'll do anything.

Can't wait for next week. Smile

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 30/04/2014 23:33

And Harry! He's still an idiot!

Undercurrent · 01/05/2014 11:02

Why was Peggy so cold towards Don? Did they part on bad terms last season - I can't remember?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 01/05/2014 14:46

I think she blames Don for Ted going to California and dumping her. Tbh she has quite a lot of reasons to hate him though. Grin

Was it just me or did he look incredibly sexy last night, bar the brown suit? It was such a great episode I might watch it again.
