Does anyone else watch it? Or is it just me...

I love it because it reminds me of another life when I used to sew (before the DC's came along and before I lost the footpedal to my sewing machine in a house move).

The contestants are just so talented and I like the beardy man judge too. Anyone else?

Just caught up on iplayer. I like Heather. I don't think she's smug. Unless Mr Po-Po can get his act together, I think it will very quickly end up an all female line up which would be a shame.

It was a shame Chinelo didn't do traditional pj's as obviously they wanted to see collars, cuffs and generally more complexity. I liked hers the best in that they didn't make the model look like an overgrown toddler, which more traditional ones often do imo.

Tamara is really creative. Julie also getting on my nerves.

MrsWeasley · 26/02/2014 18:55

Really enjoying the show. I have work room envy!

marzipanfiend · 26/02/2014 19:14

ooh this thread has made me determined to find time to watch this (got it on record)....not much hope for me finding time to sew if I can't even find time to watch the programme!

iklboo · 26/02/2014 19:23

Is Heather the 'posh totty' mug lady?

Roussette · 26/02/2014 19:46

That's the one!

Simon did deserve to go but I hope he continues sewing/tailoring. He came across as a little slapdash as he was such a novice. I'm sure he thought better to put a pocket on than none at all. As for the pleated skirt.. he made pleats...
I hope he gets a good apprenticeship somewhere. Over to you Patrick :o

Talking of Patrick. He dresses immaculately, as one would expect BUT I think that he comes over as too aloof. He doesn't need to be as 'matey' as Paul Holywood, there must be a little middle ground?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 26/02/2014 22:31

I enjoyed this so much more than the last series. They seemed to veer less between insultingly simple and bewilderingly complex, and to explain more.

I like Patrick being aloof - but I wish he'd share a bit more what he's thinking. He is better this series, but it's often clear he has a strong opinion but he doesn't bloody say! I was hoping he'd be able to explain loads of insider tips about tailoring.

I think my favourite so far is Chinelo. I love her own clothes. Her earrings make me wince, though - ouch!

harbinger · 26/02/2014 22:45

Yes, aloof and reticent.
Speak to them, it won't kill you!
I noticed that May Martin has loosened up a bit and that she comes over much better for it.

demisemiquaver · 27/02/2014 00:25

loved "the doodlin' song" at the start of freestyle section judging

WhoWasThatMaskedWoman · 28/02/2014 08:14

I like Heather

But actually I like them all, there's not a weak link in them telly-wise and the stuff they come up with in the creative challenges is unbelievable. However I think it's a pity that the pool of male talent is apparently so shallow that they've ended up with three men who they've chosen to make up the numbers and make good telly, but who just can't cut it. I liked all three very much, but with the possible exception of Dave they just weren't good enough.

GBBO and Strictly fans may be pleased to know that Monkseal and his other half have started blogging GBSB. Because they're doing alternate episodes we're getting soapy glimpses into their home life (he's a terrible present wrapper apparently). They didn't watch the first series, so they're still finding their feet.

thanks for the tip.......am loving reading it right now!!!

LottieJenkins · 28/02/2014 10:52

DS2 is watching because of Lynda. He has tweeted her a signing video on twitter and she replied so he is very happy!! I want Lynda to win!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 28/02/2014 11:21

Really enjoyed the 2 shirts challenge - it's the sort of thing that really appeals to me as I can't afford lots of new fabric so making something out of stuff I already have is my kind of thing!

Also love Heather!

BobaFetaCheese · 28/02/2014 20:12

I didn't like Tamara last week (think it was the fake tie) but she grew on me a little this week.

We've not seen much of Celina (Selena? sp?) in either episode, I thought she was just Lynda's translator this week Blush

LRD, agree with you, I almost didn't watch this season but liking it much more than last years so far.

MaskedWoman, so right on the men. I'm sure there are more famous male clothes designers than female around so why are there not more applying for the show?
Would be interesting to know how much stick MrPo-Po is getting at work for being on the show.

I have nicknamed Chinelo 'Hoops' because of her amazing array of earrings. Really love her style.

I would love to see a fancy dress challenge, possibly with children involved Grin

Logg1e · 01/03/2014 06:53

Where does this "po-po" thing come from? I can't stand it.

Roussette · 01/03/2014 07:37

BobaFetacheese nicknamed him and it just stuck! I like it Grin

OP posts:
Lambstales · 01/03/2014 21:53

I think that David, the policeman was nick named Po-po, don't know why though.

I think that Heather ought to be nicknamed 'Buckets', as in 'buckets of wine'. I'm sure that she said that in the first episode. She's also mentioned 'get your kit off' and gin all good MN vices attributes Grin

Logg1e · 02/03/2014 07:10

I don't think Boba did invent "po-po", I've heard it used on american tv programmes.

Roussette · 02/03/2014 09:44

No idea Loggie... on this thread Boba named him that, it made me laugh and I've never heard the nickname from american tv before. What does it mean and why can't you stand it?! Are we being rather too unPC?

Yes, Heather is hilarious!

OP posts:
Logg1e · 02/03/2014 09:50

The programme I'm remembering, it's a police detective using the term (Kima saying "good night" in The Wire anyone?) so I don't think it's unPC. I just think it sounds silly, especially used by English people.

Roussette · 04/03/2014 15:23

And tonight is this

Stretchy fabrics - could be interesting. I think the made to measure challenge is a wrap-dress which I'm really looking forward to as it's my go-to outfit when I go out.

OP posts:
TunipTheUnconquerable · 04/03/2014 16:05

Can't wait!

Also, it's inspired me to finally get round to finding a replacement bit for my grandma's handcranked Singer which I broke in 1987, and in the process I've made the very pleasing discovery that all the feet and other accessories are interchangeable with the ones for my Juki Smile

Roussette · 04/03/2014 17:23

Oooh Tunip, there'll be no stopping you now! Grin

I know! With a binder foot I can conquer the universe!
Still can't master the rolled hemming foot though - it's no easier than my own!
