Does anyone else watch it? Or is it just me...

I love it because it reminds me of another life when I used to sew (before the DC's came along and before I lost the footpedal to my sewing machine in a house move).

The contestants are just so talented and I like the beardy man judge too. Anyone else?

yes, Chinelos has produced quite a few wearable outfits in this.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 04/03/2014 20:53

BTW, Rousette, I just noticed your OP says you lost the footpedal to your sewing machine.
I bet you could get another online, on Ebay probably.

MaryWestmacott · 04/03/2014 20:53

Julie, leopard print?

Roussette · 04/03/2014 20:53

I like David's. But that fur thing is really errrmmmm... not my thing

TunipTheUnconquerable · 04/03/2014 20:55

If you could have one of them as your personal private dressmaker, I think you'd have Chinelo....

I wonder if she's going to get approached by loads of people after this offering her £££ to make a dress for them.

Jellykat · 04/03/2014 20:55

Agree David did good, but this has to be Chinelos surely?

PixieBumbles · 04/03/2014 20:57

Chinelo's dress is beautiful. I want it!

Roussette · 04/03/2014 20:58

I thought it would be Julie to go. She's a bit 'out the brief'

OP posts:
MaryWestmacott · 04/03/2014 20:58

Chinelo's dress is gorgeous.

Julie did have a mare this week.

Roussette · 04/03/2014 21:00

Oh wow prom dresses next week!

Enjoyed that yet again, now over to BBC3 for the Hair programme.. Love Tuesday telly atm!

Roussette · 04/03/2014 21:08

I'm watching Hair too! Always wanted to be able to braid and couldn't.

Jellykat · 04/03/2014 21:17

Some clever stuff there, if not a bit ott.. Laura's is beautiful!

Oldraver · 04/03/2014 21:20

I probably wouldn't let OH make a dress for me, not because he couldn't as he his pretty competent with a machine but I would be stood over him telling him what to do as I can sew better than him

Sneezecakesmum · 05/03/2014 09:29

Was sad to see Julie go in the end as she was quite a laugh. Cannot for the life of me understand why she made things so difficult for herself with (a) not following the brief and (b) choosing such difficult fabrics to work with!

The other bottom runner should have gone as she hasn't any real skill. Pleased David is starting to shine a bit.

Chinelo is probably going to win. Incredible skill to not use a pattern! How does she do it?

DebbieOfMaddox · 05/03/2014 10:21

Chinelo will win unless she really comes a cropper on one of the pattern challenges, IMO. I fancy her and Lynda for two of the final spots.

I have an overlocker (a second-hand one that my inlaws gave me for my last-but-one birthday) and I am too terrified to use it Grin.

Roussette · 05/03/2014 11:23

I would end up 'overlocking' my finger!

Agree that runner up last night is on dodgy ground - that pocket on mustard yellow leggings was a crime against fashion!

OP posts:
nikkihollis · 05/03/2014 12:02

I thought Patrick was a bit less distant last night. He was quite sweet to Heather when she had the disaster with her dress and then complimented on what a good job she'd done despite the panic station situation earlier.

I think those yellow leggings were a hanging offence :) But what she did with the t shirt was pretty innovative. The fact she'd only been sewing a year or so is starting to really show though as things hot up and get more complex. Mr Po-Po did better this week, which is good news :)

Jellykat · 05/03/2014 16:35

Oh Debbie you must give your overlocker a go! they're really satisfying, you don't have to whizz along, plus theres always a 'guard' of some description so you don't chop fingers Smile

BobaFetaCheese · 05/03/2014 18:10

I want Chinelo's dress, loved it!

Heather was amazingly cool and calm considering the massive mistake she'd made with the dress, I would be crying and rocking in the corner!

I don't mean to be rude, but, I noticed this week and last week Claudia is wearing really baggy tops...it just feels a bit odd in a show about getting fabrics to fit well etc she's not iyswim.
Patrick and the other one are always so well put together.

Halsall · 05/03/2014 19:37

Rousette, I lost the foot pedal to my Toyota and bought another online - 'twas easy Grin

I bought a Singer overlocker recently at Lidl of all places, I believe they have them in stock quite often, and it was a bloody good price, £149 iirc. It is brilliant and to my utter amazement I managed to thread it correctly first time

Bolstered by this, I've just bought a load of t-shirt fabric + pointe from Minerva crafts. But I LOVED that black/grey/silver circles print Tamara used.....anyone know where that came from?

Halsall · 05/03/2014 19:38

ponte, that is. Yah boo to autocorrect Angry

coffeeinbed · 05/03/2014 20:00

I liked Chinelo's dress better without the green bits she put on.

I'm beginning to have mixed feelings about this show.
Out of all the things they made on last night's show pretty much nothing was wearable.
So, what is the point? Why do it all?
Would I want to wear any of these? No.

It's interesting viewing, but I'm somehow confused by it all.

Amandine29 · 05/03/2014 20:24

I think the main problem is that quite a few of them choose some absolutely gopping material. Who wants some mustard leggings with a dodgy pocket? Or a wrap dress with a fur collar?

I still enjoy watching it though! Chinelo's nightie was amazing, I want one.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 05/03/2014 20:29

I think the clothes are usually better. Last night's were unusually bad because of it being jersey.
The second challenge was pretty much impossible - as you say, it's the fabric. Who's going to be able to make anything nice out of an old t-shirt?!
