There's a new series of One Born Every Minute starting 24th February.

I was heavily pregnant last time it was on so I'm looking forward to watching knowing I don't have to give birth this time!

OBEM

squirming at the first couple and their fucking posh cars. piss off no one cares.

the other 2 couples are fab tho. really hope he makes it in time. my DP missed DS's birth by less than 5 minutes. It probably shouldn't matter but I was devastated at the time. couldn't stop sobbing and telling him I was sorry which really marred an otherwise happy occasion Sad (actual birth was great, quick, no pain relief out in one push!)

Littlebean13 · 24/02/2014 21:56

My dp refuses to watch it too. He tells me to turn it over whenever it comes on. I dread to think how he's going to cope when it's our turn.

FiaGrace · 24/02/2014 21:56

So does anyone know any of the Mums taking part in this Series? I'm sure that there was a MNetter who was filmed for the previous series who shared her experience and joined in the discussion (I hope I've not made that up) I'm might have had a major memory fail though. Anyway, it made it more exciting Smile

OsMalleytheCat · 24/02/2014 21:57

But did anyone know that Dad 1 has lots of flash cars??? Grin

TheScience · 24/02/2014 21:58

Oh poor dad :(

Meglet · 24/02/2014 21:59

oh bless him.

At least they knew Michelle was at risk this time around. It looks very calm despite the blood loss (only had sections so I'm not familiar with a PPH procedure).

littlemisssarcastic · 24/02/2014 22:00

Did he OS? Confused

She is never going to live that one down Grin

AlpacaYourThings · 24/02/2014 22:00

Oh he missed it. Sad There was a lot of blood!

FiaGrace · 24/02/2014 22:01

Gosh! So is it quite rare to haemorrhage like that after a birth?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 24/02/2014 22:01

My Dh is the opposite. He's just said "a natural birth would be nice this time wouldn't it?" Yes dear, but it's a bit easier for you to say that than me. I was the one who pushed for bloody hours last time and then got rushed to surgery.

TheScience · 24/02/2014 22:03

Fia, fairly rare - more common with c-sections.

HunterWellies · 24/02/2014 22:05

Sorry, just flitting in at the end of the episode to say

HE ATE THE TOAST!

He missed the birth and then ate the toast they brought her :o

No-one here to shout it at, hope you don't mind. Anyone attempting to touch my post-birth toast would have been in immediate mortal peril...

TheScience · 24/02/2014 22:06

The midwife did say she brought tea and toast for two, to be fair to him!

BeeInYourBonnet · 24/02/2014 22:06

I haemorraged after ds2. I wasn't really aware of the trauma, was in a bit of a daze, but DH said afterwards it was horrific.

No lasting problem. I had to stay horizontal for quite a few hours after the birth, and was a bit anaemic, but that was it.

It was very gushy though - bit horror movie like!!! Looked much worse than it felt!

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 24/02/2014 22:08

gutted for him to miss the birth and then to come into that scene! He was great though so calm and seemed so supportive in the lead up!

FiaGrace · 24/02/2014 22:09

Thank you The Science

BeeInYourBonnet · 24/02/2014 22:09

I was wondering if the haemorraging was related to speed of labour. My labour with ds was incredibly quick (10-15 mins).

FiaGrace · 24/02/2014 22:10

Bee sounds awful. I can imagine how shocking and scary it must appear.

BeeInYourBonnet · 24/02/2014 22:12

Maybe it explains why DH refuses to watch OBEM Grin

HunterWellies · 24/02/2014 22:15

Ah, thanks TheScience, I missed that. Was probably too busy shouting.

My first labour was slow and I lost about 900ml (although no-one said at the time and I didn't notice!), second labour was v fast and no blood loss. Only found out I'd has pph when booking in for my second pregnancy Hmm

sparkleyes · 24/02/2014 22:20

Just watching on catch up I had a small
PPH with DS and a worse one with DD I don't remember much just being given oxygen and feeling quite odd. I wasn't allowed out of bed either and has to have a bed bath! DH said he thought I was a goner when the midwife pressed the call button and they all came stampeding down the corridor!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 24/02/2014 22:21

HE ATE THE TOAST!

What?!?! Noooooooo. Surely no wise man would ever eat the toast?

NovemberAli · 24/02/2014 22:29

DP ate the toast as I was waiting to go into theatre for third degree repair. I hadn't eaten in ten hours and had to lie there watching him eat the toast!! I was having lovely skin-to-skin with newborn DS though so didn't mind too much Smile

curiousgeorgie · 24/02/2014 22:30

I didn't even get toast!

I love OBEM... Makes me want to have another baby. Dangerous because I really can't!

susiedaisy · 24/02/2014 22:31

Didn't the MW say she done toast for two!
