Oooh.

Ooooohhhhhhhh!!

HazeltheMcWitch · 12/03/2014 22:02

And - I am going to pit it out there - Dryden is HAWT.
The actor obvs, the character is bad. But how bad is tbd.

GeorginaWorsley · 12/03/2014 22:03

Dryden is a bastard but I think Denton is guilty of something too.
Setting him up maybe?

TheresALight · 12/03/2014 22:05

So Denton has been playing a Massive double-bluff? What an amazing episode, loved the questioning of Drydon

omama · 12/03/2014 22:06

A woman scorned....

Optimist1 · 12/03/2014 22:07

In turmoil here trying to working out who's the most corrupt of them all (except Steve and Kate)! I'm sure the cat allergy thing was significant, but was very disappointed that Steve didn't whisk a kitten or two out of his pocket during the interview to prove something!!

Looking forward to seeing what others thought ....

soupmaker · 12/03/2014 22:08

That was good, really good. Dryden clearly a wrong 'un, but how wrong? Denton definitely not 100% innocent. Please, please Hastings can't be involved, that would be so wrong.

Can't wait for next week.

WipsGlitter · 12/03/2014 22:08

What was the nickname bit with Neil Morrissey?

Is Denton behind it all?

soupmaker · 12/03/2014 22:10

Dot is "the caddy". He's pinning it on the dead copper who threw Steve's partner out the hospital window.

Lurleene · 12/03/2014 22:12

Having just watched the interview scene i think Dryden and David Tennant should be cast together as brothers in something. Anything. I would definitely watch it. Fans self

HazeltheMcWitch · 12/03/2014 22:13

I thought the cat thing 'it's just a cat' was a metaphor, flagging up the (denied regret for the...) termination?

HazeltheMcWitch · 12/03/2014 22:15

Or, maybe Dryden will have a cat at his family home, proving no allergy, and proving too that Denton has been feeding Steve a red herring or two...

Callmesausage · 12/03/2014 22:19

Fantastic! I can't wait until next week. I am not sure now how much Denton is involved.

chocohontas · 12/03/2014 22:19

Dryden in a wrong 'un.
But Denton is more of a wrong 'un.
Double bluff.
Brilliant tv.

justtoomessy · 12/03/2014 22:19

I think Dryden is being set up now by Denton but that Dot has something to do with it too. Arrghhh! I can't wait for next week.

guineapiglet · 12/03/2014 22:20

amazing episode....heart still pounding so brilliantly tense. Denton has been clever kind of targetting Steve, letting him hear her cry etc, getting him on her side....however, dead pan face at the end ...smug?? great acting by the whole team, I thought. Dryden definitely guilty of underage stuff but I reckon Denton has fitted him up, did he put pressure on for her to get the termination... revenge for that, in the form of his career down the pan. stil lots to unravel, like for example how Akers was involved and who is bribing who. great stuff.

ps the fit actor who plays Dryden is also in Shetland at the moment, another excellent, moody police drama.....

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/03/2014 22:20

Great twist tonight , can't wait for next week .

Optimist1 · 12/03/2014 22:24

Ooh yes, Hazel - you're probably right that there'll be a cat chez Dryden which will alert Arnott to Denton's lie. Such a satisfying episode tonight - can't wait for the last one!

Cocolepew · 12/03/2014 23:26

What was the significance of the termination on her medical records at the end?

I'm not convinced that Denton is guilty. The whole torture in prison/ being sprung from the van. How could she has possibly set that up?
I'm gripped by the whole programme.

pipsqueak · 13/03/2014 06:57

I missed a bit in the middle of this episode - can anyone tell me what the cat issue is please?

TheWomanWithTheMysteriousLump · 13/03/2014 07:10

I'm going to be gutted if Denton killed Carly.

One of my most hated TV detective tropes is that when some dodgy looking bloke with the evidence stacked against him looks the hero in the eye and does the big "You've got to believe me! I never killed X!" speech then they are always telling the truth. The murderer never flat out denies their crime - they tell lies around the edge about alibi etc but they don't flat out lie about the fact of their guilt. I will love Mercurio for ever if he stakes this cliche in its rotten heart by having Hastings believe Draper's impassioned self-defence and then having it revealed that no, he was just lying because he's a very dishonest individual with all the motivation in the world to lie.

Zingy123 · 13/03/2014 07:31

Her cat was taken away when she went to prison. She said she got rid of her previous cat as Dryden was allergic to it.

Willemdefoeismine · 13/03/2014 09:35

Every week there's been a different slant on who may be guilty.....Talk about a rollercoaster....

Still believe that Hastings is a decent chap who has a notion of what is 'the right thing to do' and is essentially 'honest' (but maybe that's a double bluff too....)

It could well be that it was no coincidence that Denton picked out Carly's disappearance to investigate.....Maybe it's a fait accompli that anyone being investigated is put on 'missing persons' duty - she could have stage-manoevred the whole thing....

I think, though, that there's a different twixt 'covering your back' and digging for dirt on fellow officers and stage manoevring such an cunningly audacious revenge plot....

Her looking smug at the end didn't necessarily indicate she'd been involved in setting him up - but just maybe her being pleased he'd been 'rumbled'

HMMMMMM - hoping in a way that the ending is ambiguous...sure there will be another series....
