three, don't worry, I am a one man woman and it's Pot all the way for me (unfortunately, as I am old enough to be his mother). Never fear, Boris is safe.

raahh, your doc is speedy. Glad you have a bit of relief.

JuanPotatoTwo · 17/02/2014 15:44

I'm fine now Raahh thanks - seems you've taken up the sickness baton. Hope you feel better today.

Muddled, should you be doing things like that at your age? Wouldn't knitting be a better idea? :)

I have a new phone. I can't even work out how to switch it on. Think I may have made a bit of a mistake ...

magimedi · 17/02/2014 18:39

Another forum I post on has a 'slap' emoticon - shame we haven't got one here - for Pesky.

(Showing your age with the phone, however).

I did crack the 1K & am really pleased. I started swimming again 5 weeks ago & 16 lenghts was all I could do. Today I did 40 which is 1K in 38 minutes & I am just so thrilled.

JuanPotatoTwo · 17/02/2014 19:01

That's brilliant muddled . No, seriously that is really good. . Well done. :).

I can't compete with sporty people- I am strictly an armchair sports person.

I am becoming very knowledgeable about curling, and the patterns on Norwegian trousers, and obsessed by the skating (i appreciate this is so i don't have to talk to my familyGrin). It is good practice for when the tennis-on-tv season starts in earnest.

Hope Rafa and David have a good time in Rio, since it is a new tournament. A Nadal/Ferrer final will be fine, thanks.

Vamos

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/02/2014 20:26

Everyone should be obsessed with the patternson Norwegian curlers trousers. It's the most important part of the olympics.

I used to be able to compete with sporty people but now every time I try bits of my body give upon me. Think my asthma might now be under control enough to start running again. Just need to get the weather under control. Will test swimming when I go away.

threebats · 18/02/2014 06:51

Not half term here yet till next week... I am off for this week as well though as there are progress meetings going on in my dept where tutors all get to sit around and talk about us and then call us in one by one Thursday to report their findings - my appointment is first up. 8.30am... I have got 2 more days to kid myself that I am the class swot Grin

I think I have high blood pressure ladies - yesterday and Sunday I had the most odd headache. I get migraines - sympathies to juan glad you are up again now. It only hurt if I bent over, coughed, if I sneezed it was hell on earth for that second or two. Otherwise just this throbbing which was bearable. I would put it down to sinus headache except when I was getting cross or annoyed by something, head would throb uncontrollably till I calmed myself down - marginally better this morning. Guess I will have to go get this checked out.

Feel better all - glad dd is having a great time juan I'm hitting the books here, lots of written work to catch up on given I am sat at home with radio on and coffee going Smile

JuanPotatoTwo · 19/02/2014 22:26

Sounds like some type of sinusitis three, hope you're feeling better today. Or perhaps stress? Maybe a check up at the docs is in order. We're descending on you tomorrow by the way. :). Well ok, not you personally, but going to visit my lot til Saturday.

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/02/2014 23:19

Sounds like it would be worth getting it checked out. I do get that sometimes when I get a tension headache. My blood pressure is fine though.

Hope those of you with half terms are enjoying it.

threebats · 20/02/2014 07:26

Not sure rafa It went away and has not come back - maybe it was sinus headache after all.
I'm off for a progress meeting - 8.30 this morning - shudder...
Hope you are all feeling better Smile

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/02/2014 21:38

Hope the progress meeting went OK threebats. Did you get the earthquake tremor where you are.

Juan here's a link for you. Enjoy it.

threebats · 21/02/2014 07:51

That earthquake was me loosing my cool at the college Grin Nah, it went very good thanks rafa. All is well, I am up to date, work is good, I am doing quite well actually... And no, I felt nada, nothing. I didn't know we had had the shakes till I saw it on facebook later in the day. At midday..? I was sitting in dd house crooning at the small person. I knew nothing. I felt the last one years ago but not this one.
Got tons of work to get through today till I can sit and watch Rugby tonight with a clear conscience of having done all that needs doing beforehand...Sigh... Getting on with it then..
Have a good day all Smile

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/02/2014 08:17

FB is exactly where I learnt that we'd felt it down here. I was sat at work and felt nothing.

Glad college is going well.

JuanPotatoTwo · 21/02/2014 19:55

Clay that thread Shock. Priceless, how did I miss it? Thank you for linking.

Glad to hear you're doing well at college three. I know I don't know you, but I'm not surprised (that you're doing well!).

Pot has raised a few eyebrows this week with his decision not to play DC for Argentina - I have been valiantly defending him on his FB. I hope he appreciates my efforts :). I may have made a tactical error this afternoon and given myself some competition for Pot's undivided attention (*muddled, of course, doesn't count). We're in Wales at my Mum's until tomorrow, and earlier my cousin dropped in to say hi. I haven't seen him for a while, and naturally enough the conversation turned to my midlife crisis crush tennis. So I showed him several pics of Pot. He left here with a new spring in his step, drool on his chin and a declaration that Pot was indeed very nice, particular in some of the shirtless pictures ...

Off to join three watching the rugby now, have good weekend everyone.

Oh I meant to say - my dd is nineteen today. I've been looking at pics from the day she was born - I never dreamt back then that nineteen years later my baby would be travelling round Thailand. I may have shed a few tears. But I'm actually very proud of her, and I think she's having a great time.

She forwarded me a text today that she'd received from a lad she was in school with. This lad was a year younger than her, very bright, a good singer - and very picked on. They've always been good friends, and she's always looked out for him, but they were never part of the same social group. Anyway, over the years, the lad has continued to be bright, is head boy at secondary school, is basically the type of boy you'd love your dd to bring home. On top of which, he has somehow become one of the school's best sportsmen and has the "body of a god" (in the muttered, envious words of my ds2). So, I'm sure she'll forgive me for re-posting the text in the unlikely event she ever finds out but he sent her this today:

"T, you're wonderful and beautiful and perfect. And, despite how glamorous you've become, you're still you. So, happy birthday, have a smashing day and I hope to see you soon.

All my love as ever.

A xxxxx"

I cried (again) :(

Raahh · 21/02/2014 21:06

Juan - that text is gorgeous. What a fab friendship they must have.

Happy Birthday to your daughter- she sounds lovely. Cake

magimedi · 21/02/2014 21:47

Happy Birthday, daughter of pesky - she sounds lovely, Juan.

And I DO COUNT, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, (less than 10% of my swim lengths !!)!!

Raahh · 22/02/2014 21:10

oh dear. Ferrer is not doing well against Dogsbollocks in Rio. Sad

VAMOS

Raahh · 23/02/2014 11:13

The live rankings page has confused me- it has Nadal as the winner in Rio- which is of course fine by meGrin- but he can't have played Dogsbollocks yet, because he played Ferrer last night? Confused. Unless it's a walkover, for some reason.

Raahh · 23/02/2014 11:15

Grin curiouser and curiouser- it also has Dogsbollocks as the winnerGrin.

Someone isn't paying attention.

another thread to join. yes its months away but still, its WIMBLEDON and maybe one of you can advise OP?

JuanPotatoTwo · 25/02/2014 13:22

Oh this is dreadful. Am watching first round match in Dubai between Pot and Devermann. Pot just lost first set in tiebreak and now has the physio on looking at his wrist, and he's really upset. Just about crying. Looks devastated. They've gone off court now but I can't see him being able to carry on. So sad. :(

OP posts:
JuanPotatoTwo · 25/02/2014 13:24

He's retired :(

OP posts:
LetZygonsbeZygons · 25/02/2014 18:17

hes never seemed to fully recover from that original wrist injury has he?

I never get why he never wears some support for his wrist when he plays, why rafa never wears knee supports, why andy doesn't wear a girdle thing for his back etc etc.

theyre doing themselves no favours are they?

Raahh · 25/02/2014 19:24

I've seen about Potato- very sadSad

It must be a difficult call re-strapping and things. Maybe the restrictive nature of the strappings can be worse than the pain? Certainly Nadal preferred to play without the plasters on his blister in Aus, as the plaster affected his grip.

I hope Potato gets sorted, I love watching him when he is playing well. Given that (i think) he's the youngest in the top 10, he's sustained a fair few injuries that could end up with him calling it a day far too soon.
