three, don't worry, I am a one man woman and it's Pot all the way for me (unfortunately, as I am old enough to be his mother). Never fear, Boris is safe.

raahh, your doc is speedy. Glad you have a bit of relief.

magimedi · 12/02/2014 20:26

Also looking for three - hope it's just a power cut being the reason for her absence.

Hope you are OK, Pesky & that DD got away smoothly.

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/02/2014 21:25

Evening all. Hope everyone's safe and dry. We're dry still but did have a power cut yesterday. All ok now though.

Thank you for asking after dh and dd. Dh doing well, a bit sore but on the road to recovery and very glad to be home. And dd has arrived safely in Bangkok. The scenes at the airport yesterday weren't pretty though :(. Ds (9) was clinging on to dd, and dh, dd's boyfriend, dd and me were all in tears. You'd have thought she was being exiled for life not going on a longed for travelling trip. I forgot to tell you (mainly because I forgot myself) that dd and her friend are going to be filmed for a bbc documentary so when they landed at Bangkok, after an 18hr flight, they were not best pleased to be met by a camera crew! Dd messaged me earlier to say that she'd just found two letters in her luggage, one from ds and one from her boyfriend, and consequently was feeling homesick. I'm sure she'll be just fine .

On to the important stuff - Just watched a fantastic match between Murray and a twenty yr old Austrian qualifier called Dominic Thiem. He's definitely one to look out for I think - ranked 113 or something but I'm sure he'll be in top 100 before long. Pot through first two rounds as well - watched a bit of his match today against Mathieu. He won fairly comfortably but I'm not convinced his wrist is fully ok - lots of backhand slicing going on. Oh I do love him so .... I'm way to old to have these sorts of adolescent crushes. Maybe it's the menopause.

OP posts:
magimedi · 13/02/2014 22:21

Not the menopause, Pesky - just old, old age kicking in!! Grin

Still waiting to hear from threebats - hope she is OK.

threebats · 14/02/2014 06:15

Morning all - power was on and off on Wednesday and I was in college all day yesterday, flipping shattered. The hail that arrived after the wind Wednesday night was deafening, on and off all night. Bonkers stuff.
Some schools here did close - college simply moved students from windows and carried on as normal Confused I drove to get dd and found a roof in middle of road (don't know if I have mentioned this) Fabian way, a main artery off M4 had sheet roofing flying about, M4 shut for a bit and Llanelli was all but closed as trees fell - we couldn't get to the theatre for dd A level drama play she had to watch. Everybody is well and okay though which is the main thing. Somebody mentioned on another thread their windows being covered in grime - mine are also, I think as that poster does, that its sea spray. I can't see clearly out of them.

magi thanks for worrying - I am okay though, my satellite dish has been turned so I have to go out and put it back to get a signal then maybe I can get some Tennis in - 2 weeks off from today!
juan You are a brave soldier! Your dd will be fine. Happy to hear your dh is getting there as well...
I'm off for my shower before college - brace yourselves in South England and keep safe - we have got 60mph wind predicted which compared to Wednesday will be a walk in the park Smile

magimedi · 14/02/2014 07:54

Glad you are OK three. Was worried as you said onthe weather thread that you wer off on a horrendous drive to get DCs.

Raining here but wind not due till later. Looking forward to watching the final of the mens' skating later today. [skate]

Mama1980 · 14/02/2014 08:04

Glad everyone is safe and dryish.
Oh bless you Juan, glad she has arrived safely. I remember my round the work trip, the airport was definitely the worst bit of the whole thing, saying goodbye and seeing everyone upset. But I had a amazing time I am trying to persuade my dd to go herself in a couple of years, I will hate it but it really was amazing for me and I'm sure your dd will have a wonderful time. Glad to hear your dh is on the mend.

Raahh · 14/02/2014 10:27

Morning everyone.

I've been getting addicted to the Olympics. This morning i have been particularly fascinated by the Norwegian men, and their floral trousers.

Ferrer and Potato safely into their respective quarter finals. Vamos

Mama1980 · 14/02/2014 10:36

The trousers are awesome Grin

Raahh · 14/02/2014 10:38

Aren't they? Brilliant. Would never be allowed at Wimbledon, of course. Grin

Raahh · 14/02/2014 18:04

Del Potato has lost in the quartersSad

Raahh · 14/02/2014 20:11

And so has Murray.

magimedi · 14/02/2014 20:45

Del Potato has lost in the quarters

Oh No!

Better set out some reviving gin for the pesky one!

threebats · 15/02/2014 08:08

Is this tennis on tv anywhere? Cause I can't find it...
Morning all Grin

Mama1980 · 15/02/2014 08:32

Morning all Grin hope everyone's safe and dry. My bins have blown away!
Threebats- it's on tennis tv.com. Haven't found it anywhere else.

magimedi · 15/02/2014 08:48

Hi there - very, very noisy last night with the wind but all seems OK here. Haven't been out yet, however.

Raahh · 15/02/2014 10:43

Well, Ferrer is through to the BA semi's- VAMOS

Raahh · 15/02/2014 22:57

And Ferrer is through to the final . Vamos

Raahh · 16/02/2014 18:09

Well, Berdych has won in Rotterdam- and has leap frogged Murray in the rankings.

Vamos Ferrer on BA!

Raahh · 16/02/2014 18:38

And well done Ferrer!

JuanPotatoTwo · 16/02/2014 18:58

Evening all. Hope everyone's safe. Have spent weekend in bed with migraine, what a sickly lot we are in this family. Weather seems to have finally calmed down though.

Didn't even get to see Pot lose I was that ill. It's his wrist, I'm sure of it. Think he needs to take some proper time out and get it properly sorted. I was really hoping Cilic would win as well, I just can't take to Berdych. Ah well, congratulations to Ferrer and here's to the next tournament.

Dd is keeping in regular touch via FB and WhatsApp. She went to one of those full moon parties on Koh Samui yesterday which thankfully she has survived! She met a bloke there from Tandil who has played tennis with Pot (she's been well taught by her ma as to the important questions to ask on meeting any Argentinians!). I am urging her to wangle an invite for her and her family to this bloke's home!

What plans have we got for half term?

OP posts:
LetZygonsbeZygons · 16/02/2014 19:04

Hope evryones okay and surviving the weather.

YES! My Berdych won...although I like Cilic too, so didn't mind who won really.

Andy needs to step up again, but I hope he takes Ivanisevic's attitude ''If I never win anything again it doesn't matter vos I won Wimbledon!'' if he starts getting pressured again by the media.

and not just Wimbly, the US AND a gold. that's bloody great.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/02/2014 21:12

Hope you're feeling better Juan. I've got the lurgy. My throat and my chest need to make up their mind which one wants to hurt. They're taking it in turns at the moment and I'd prefer it if just one of them hurt.

Agree that Murray should just tell the media to shove off. He has won titles and two Slams and the men's top 5/6 is really tough at the moment. There's a lot of very good quality players in there. Calendar/Career Grand Slam is a lot easier to do when there's a much weaker field to compete against.

magimedi · 17/02/2014 09:41

Hope all the sickies are feeling better otday.

Off to swim shortly. Today is the day I intend to crack the 1K !! (I hope).
