three, don't worry, I am a one man woman and it's Pot all the way for me (unfortunately, as I am old enough to be his mother). Never fear, Boris is safe.

raahh, your doc is speedy. Glad you have a bit of relief.

any of you in the sw/se having probs with the flooding?

im okay where we are, nowhere near a river, but the winds have blown our fences in the garden down! getting them repaired this week.

JuanPotatoTwo · 10/02/2014 17:51

We also have had a fence down. No flooding for us but lots by the river a couple of miles away. Dd's boyfriend's grandma is flooded - there are four fire engines in her road desperately pumping water. It's awful.

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 10/02/2014 17:58

Had a bit from the high tides but not much else. Winds horrible but not as bad as lat week. I think we've now lost all the remaining railway line. Now blocked south of exeter, between exeter and taunton/paddington and the exeter-waterloo line.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 10/02/2014 18:21

Rafa can you actually get anywhere or are you all blocked in?

friend of mines flooded too as she lives near a river.

threebats · 10/02/2014 18:31

Ladies!
I had no internet, the wind went and blew it all out, the utter bastard pain.
juan Now come on, pull yourself together. Its okay to let them go - it is.... It is.... I am not hanging on to my daughter by the scruff of her lovely neck as I type oh no.... Kent University... We live in Swansea (That's in Wales, Boris) Kent Shock You have got to be kidding, right!?
There is a perfectly good Uni right here. Huh.
Can't get rid of dd of the elder variety - she only moved down the road and I see her and baby every day all but... Borrowing cash, eating food, having lifts, babysitting, 'Just hold this for me Mami...'
'You mean your daughter love?' Grin

Good luck for Wednesday - I am off Wednesday so will little doubt be hanging about online if you need a kick up the arse cheer up.

Stay safe those of you in the line of the rain fire...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 10/02/2014 19:50

It was just the tide on Monday and Tues. Bit of a bus diversion to gt to work on Weds/Thurs but all ok now. It's just the trains. Dawlish obviously washed into the sea but there's been landslides on the Waterloo line in Somerset over the weekend. Think the Taunton bit has been shut for a while. Possibly since Xmas.

Actually where I am we've got off very lightly. Am lucky.

threebats · 11/02/2014 06:08

Solid rain here since 4am this morning - can't wait to go out to college - grim.
Hurry up June and the French.... I feel utterly down in the dumps this morning. I have started to work overtime on case studies for aromatherapy as well as do my now case studies for Reflex and my assignments, so they are done and out of the way early meaning I can watch Tennis all throughout June with not a care in the world. I figured that this weather is just coming and coming and I may as well sit here and do nothing but work while its so dismal outside so that come June, I can emerge into sunshine (hopefully!) with all the slog over with while it was dark, rainy and disgusting and just sit and watch Boris being lovely while Tennis is played out non stop for weeks on my Tv....
Hope you all keep dry today and safe...

JuanPotatoTwo · 11/02/2014 13:11

Hi all. Dh home :). Just in time to see dd off . Actually, she's not flying til 6 tomorrow evening so am keeping ds3 home from school tomorrow and we're all going to spend the day together. You folks will realise the enormity of my sacrifice - Pot plays his first match tomorrow (thought it was today but no) and I will miss it.

clay - talking of the bus - what happened about your bus pass? Did work cough up?

three - wondered where you'd got to. Hope the weather doesn't cause you too much trouble. Like your plan for June, very far sighted of you.

Cilic has just beaten Rosol. I like Cilic despite his resemblance to Kevin Webster ...

So pleased to hear that you DH is home, Pesky.

Am sure you will be personally adding to the flooding tomorrow - but you'll be fine - just remind her to text/email regularly.

JuanPotatoTwo · 11/02/2014 13:46

Thank you muddled :)

LetZygonsbeZygons · 11/02/2014 17:10

Juan that's a good idea having a family day. and glad your DH home.

Three you need Boris to come and give you a massage.....and maybe more Grin.

threebats · 11/02/2014 18:56

Yeah for Juan having dh home but ahhhh for dd leaving tomorrow. It'll be okay, you'll see Smile You will be fine as will she...

Bracing for storm number 2 here tomorrow - number 3 on the weekend apparently. Getting to be the norm now. I find it odd if the wind is not howling like a maniac and ice is falling from the sky.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/02/2014 19:20

OMG it's brutal out there. Came home and got straight into a hot shower. Wet, windy and mild was one thing wet. windy and bloody freezing is quite another.

Agree about 'normal' three. I don't think we've had a day since that storm at the end of November/beginning of December where we haven't had gale force winds or torrential rain or both. Even the other weekend when it was blues skies and sun when I woke up it was bucketting down an hour later. It just hasn't stopped. I've never known a winter like it.

Glad you DH is home, Juan. Hope you all enjoy the evening together before your DD ventures off.

threebats · 12/02/2014 07:45

Good luck today juan Keep your chin up... Happy and safe travels to your dd.
We are waiting for the high winds again - I meant it clay If I can not hear wind whipping about my house now, I find it eerie and quiet. If there is not a threat of hail and rain I think that I do not trust the forecast and eye the sky suspiciously! For every sunny day we have had, we have had hail and thunder and wind as a punishment for it by nightfall.
That Cameron Dick - going off and visiting the places flooded like some sort of fecking messiah... He is the last person I would want to see if my house was flooded out, the temptation to drown the bugger would be too great to resist.

Raahh · 12/02/2014 08:36

three it is insulting isn't it, all the visits from politicians? I'm with you on drowning the fecker. We are very lucky where we live- Manchester may be wet, but our bit of it is very unlikely to ever flood.

I wanted to drown Nick Griffin on Saturday when i saw him in our town centre. He's so blubbery he'd probably floatAngryWe have a by election tomorrow. Unfortunately, there are enough idiots around here to vote the BNP in. It's really worrying.

Good luck today,Juan.

and Vamos Ferrer well done!

Grin
magimedi · 12/02/2014 08:41

Stiff upper lip, Pesky - at least till she's gone!

Three I agree that Camerson is a dick but if he hadn't gone to visit the floods people would say he didn't care & was staying in his ivory tower. It's a no win situation. And yes - I'd be happy to drown him (& all the rest of them) as well.

JuanPotatoTwo · 12/02/2014 09:20

Thank you everyone. Have a mini crisis to distract me from dd's departure. Ds2 smashed his two front teeth in at school yesterday (I've started a thread in chat with a pic if you're interested!) so going to dentist in about half an hour.

If my house was awash with water the last thing I'd need would be a visit from a useless politician - unless he was prepared to muck in and help clear up. But, as you say, I guess they have to be seen to be doing the right thing.

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/02/2014 09:31

It would have been a winnable situation if he'd visited earlier. But there are villages in Somerset that have been continuously cut off/flooded since mid/end of December. 6+ weeks is along time to leave it. Especially if you only visit after the media have highlighted the problem.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/02/2014 09:34

Hope both you and DS are OK today Juan.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 12/02/2014 13:45

have a good day today with your family Juan. be thinking of you at Heathrow later!

threebats · 12/02/2014 15:04

I am loosing power all the time, on and off constantly - wind is terrible here, really bad and I am not one to pay heed most of the time but this is scary and I have to go out to collect dc's between 4-5. Filled flasks and made pasta to eat cold if it comes to it. Got heating on to try and keep house okay if we do loose power, sort of, gather heat in now...

I agree that Cameron was damned if he did, damned if he did not magi rather than walk about in his wellies though, I would have had more respect had he hulked about bloody sandbags to help the people who were doing it rather than wade through the water like some sort of prize the place got - I have turned up - panic over... Look at me walking through the water on your road... Get your hands wet man then I will have respect for you.

threebats · 12/02/2014 15:08

Can't find your thread juan

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/02/2014 18:11

three I've just come on to see if you are ok. Looks bad where you are at the moment.

Hope you managed to get out and back safely.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 12/02/2014 18:13

three SPOT ON about Scumeron! bloody twunt.
I have never hated, and hated is a strong word but its what I genuinely feel -someone as much as him. I want to throw something at the tv every time his smug mug appears so ''concerned''.

and breathe.....

LetZygonsbeZygons · 12/02/2014 18:14

Three if the weather is so bad where you are why aren't the schools closed? they should be.
