I think I may be in love Smile

OP posts:

You have to watch and see.

NickyNackyNooNoo · 19/01/2014 22:07

Is it just me, or did Athos had a weird Eddie Izzard vibe going?

ILikeToClean · 19/01/2014 22:07

Yes I think she was Athos' love. I enjoyed it - lots of swashbuckling, bit of humour, intrigue and a dark side - perfect for Sunday nights.

Bowlersarm · 19/01/2014 22:10

Wow, a few gorgeous faces to take to bed and dream about.

I think Milady was Athos's lover, who he tried to kill.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:11

She tried to kill him and he had her tried in court but she escaped and is out for revenge.

squoosh · 19/01/2014 22:12

Well that was a load of old nonsense. Poor script, some poor acting (I liked Capaldi and Milady though). It felt like a Saturday tea time show a la Merlin/Robin Hood. Not a post watershed show.

Bowlersarm · 19/01/2014 22:13

Why did she want to kill him, Coffee?

Bowlersarm · 19/01/2014 22:14

Oh squoosh, don't be a spoilsport.

At least they are heavenly to look at.

scaevola · 19/01/2014 22:14

Sod the story, it was just wonderful to look at.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:14

Good question.
I forgot.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:15

Or maybe she didn't try to kill him, but he definitely had her in court but she seduced the executioner and escaped.
Hmm

colleysmill · 19/01/2014 22:16

It's been a long time since I read the book wasnt Milady de Winter blonde? There's a connection between Athos and de Winter but I won't spoil it

Nice bit of Sunday night easy viewing

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/01/2014 22:16

That was good Grin

Squoosh have you read the book? This is very much in the spirit I think.

Aramis - mmmmmmmm

AnneWentworth · 19/01/2014 22:17

Couldn't resist posting when I saw this in Actuve threads.

I concur, they are beautiful. I will be dreaming if Aramis tonight.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:17

I quite enjoyed it.

Nerfmother · 19/01/2014 22:17

That was brilliant

squoosh · 19/01/2014 22:17

No one has grabbed my eye yet, I'll give it another week. I'm never offended by a period drama hottie.

It was pants though. It pains me that Ripper Street is unceremoniously ditched and then this is lauded as Original British Drama.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:19

It's true though.
It did remind me of Atlantis and similar Saturday evening offerings, that's true, but I think I'll manage.

QuickQuickSloe · 19/01/2014 22:20

I'm with squoosh, I don't know if it is something to do with the way it is filmed, but I didn't enjoy for the same reason I didn't enjoy Merlin.

I am not sure what that is though so will have to watch again next week to dribble try and pin down what my problem with it is.

Bowlersarm · 19/01/2014 22:23

Just googled it Coffee - according to wiki Athos and Milady were married. He tried to kill her, because she wasn't who he thought she was-not quite sure why, and thought he succeeded. I don't think he knows she's still alive at the stage we are at.

Bowlersarm · 19/01/2014 22:24

Oh have I spoilt it-sorry everyone.

coffeeinbed · 19/01/2014 22:25

My memory is definitely not what it was.

AnneWentworth · 19/01/2014 22:43

I think they didn't really mask the relationship very well did they really so I don't think you spoilt anything.

Davros · 19/01/2014 23:50

Haven't watched this yet but was hoping it would be a replacement for Merlin/Atlantis to watch with DD (nearly 11). Is there anything untoward to explain its post watershed transmission time or is it just to oppose Mr Selfridge?

squoosh · 19/01/2014 23:53

It's a little bit violent and there are a few bedroom scenes, pretty tame ones. I think it would be fine for an 11 year old, it has the same vibe as Merlin and Atlantis.

I may have forgotten a garroting or beheading so someone may be along to correct me!
