The Bridge is back on Saturday 4th January on BBC 4!
Only for a double bill thoughSad but better than nothing.

OP posts:

It's done it again, just like season 1. I'm going to be numb all weekend.

I don't see how Saga could have done anything else. She couldn't have sat on that sort of information. It would completely go against the grain for her.

smugmumofboys · 01/02/2014 23:07

Kim Bodnia said on bbc breakfast that he will be in series 3. Maybe from the inside of a prison cell?

Fiveleaves · 01/02/2014 23:14

Was distracted a vital point. Did martin admit to poisoning jens to saga?

smugmumofboys · 01/02/2014 23:16

Not in so many words. He said, 'Are you sure I did it?' and she something like, 'Of course I am.'

Like most of their interactions, what wasn't said was brilliantly done.

LaVolcan · 01/02/2014 23:16

He sort of admitted it.

Fiveleaves · 01/02/2014 23:18

Ah thanks.

Vagndidit · 01/02/2014 23:19

Nyyeeeeee! Not Martin!! (Although I agree there's no way Saga could have kept that a secret)

Will sulk away to my happy place where Martin and Sarah Lund can keep each other company in prison...

Yy to Rasmus!

mrsjavierbardem · 01/02/2014 23:22

That was brilliant!
Pernille was stunning, the way it dawned on her as it dawned on us in a kind of real time : brilliant & awesome!
Saga shopping Martin! Unexpected! Shocker! They could ff til his release date, there is no fixed time there, leather trousers forever a la mode, vintage Porches etc.

Still don't understand what Oliver and Gertrude were responsible for respectively, did she kill Julian? Or mystery third Man. I cant believe they've left us hanging....

lovingmatleave · 01/02/2014 23:23

Phewww. Brilliant. Lost it a bit last week with too many twists and turns but it definitely pulled it back on the last two. Poor Pernille. Saga - I really thought she was going to give him the cups to destroy. What an ending!!!!

wetaugust · 01/02/2014 23:23

YY here too to Rasmus or possibly the boat-owning man.

Baaaaad ending. Saga committed a crime but didn't turn herself in. Martin commits a crime and she turns him in. Saga can keep a secret as she is keeping her own offence secret from the authorities. Doesn't add up to me.

P.S. I'm glas Martin killed Jens Grin

Cooroo · 01/02/2014 23:23

How come Gertrude wasn't arrested for killing her husband? Ok she'd probably have got off but wouldn't she have to face a trial?

wetaugust · 01/02/2014 23:26

No - they watched the film and could see it was a self-defence killing. You don't have to stand trial in those circumstances. In this country the CPS could decide there is no grounds for prosecution.

HettiePetal · 01/02/2014 23:26

She was probably bailed, Coo as it was such a clear case of self-defence (or defence of another).

Cindy34 · 01/02/2014 23:29

Maybe there will be a lack of evidence against Martin (cup goes missing, body quickly cremated before analysis can be done). You never know, there may be a way of having a season 3 with him in it.

mrsjavierbardem · 01/02/2014 23:32

But he will lose his police contract presumably whatever happens?
Such a look he gave her from the back of the car!

2014ThisIsMyYear · 01/02/2014 23:35

Gripping from start to finish tonight. Thank goodness we were able to watch Episode 10 straight after Episode 9!

Re Saga's crime - maybe after such a long period of time she couldn't be tried for it anyway?

The silhouette man was tall, so ... Marcus Stenberg? Alexander?? Not Rasmus though.

Cindy34 · 01/02/2014 23:35

Yes - There WILL be a third series.

mousmous · 01/02/2014 23:38

so, will series 3 catch up where this one ended?
with mystery man?
like the idea of sarah lund and martin solving crimes from the prison cantine (do they have mixed prisons in denmark?).

Inertia · 01/02/2014 23:38

Ok, I have only seen the last few episodes and missed a chunk of today's , but could the shadowy figure be Rasmus , with all the apparent ineptitude being sabotage ? Did he ever reappear at the end ?

Allice · 01/02/2014 23:39

Oh my goodness! That ending was amazing. Poor Pernille, first time she ever left the police station.

The author is doing a q and a now on the bbc website.
Says there will be a series 3 but not transmitted in Denmark/Sweden until sept 2016!!!

Inertia · 01/02/2014 23:39

Oops, missed a refresh there so it's already been suggested !

SoulJacker · 01/02/2014 23:41

Why isn't the last episode available on iplayer yet??!!

Allice · 01/02/2014 23:41

Author has just said on podcast that they've not decided who the person who shot Gertrud is and it may be revisited in series 3 or never mentioned again.

I thought Rasmus but he did seem quite thick, not sure he's pull it off!

Cindy34 · 01/02/2014 23:43

Hans the writer has said we do not know who the master mind is.

So I guess they used an actor already in the cast but deliberately kept it vague, so if in a later series they decide to keep going with that aspect they can cast someone suitable.

coffeeinbed · 01/02/2014 23:43

Ha!
Author.
What does he know.
