How did he survive jumping of that building? How did he get all that blood back inside him? How did he survive being dead?! Shock

Loved it!

Was nervous that it was going to be an anti climax, but actually for me, it wasn't.

The only downside for me is that Moriarty is dead- I fancy the arse off him

BecauseIsaidS0 · 01/01/2014 22:48

Eh, Noel, Moriarty? Really? He seems so...puny.

NoelOfLorst · 01/01/2014 22:49

Noooo...well yeah...maybe.

PunySexy

edamsavestheday · 01/01/2014 22:49

enjoyed it. Guessed they'd have loads of different answers to how he did it but not the Sherlock and Moriarty kiss. Grin Grin

FunnyFestiveTableRunner · 01/01/2014 22:50

I admit there were a few funny bits. It was more the lack of tension that was disappointing.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 01/01/2014 22:50

PunySexy! Xmas Grin

edamsavestheday · 01/01/2014 22:52

and yes, such a shame Moriarty's a goner. Would be too jumping the shark to bring him back as well though, sadly.

FrankelInFoal · 01/01/2014 22:55

Andrew Scott has a definite quality about him Grin

MrsJohnDeere · 01/01/2014 22:55

Loved it! Can't wait for Sunday.

Naebother · 01/01/2014 22:59

I really enjoyed it. So happy it's back only four days to go.

whatshallwedo · 01/01/2014 23:02

I loved it and it takes a lot for me to be able to sit through a programme for that length of time!

FrankelInFoal · 01/01/2014 23:09

Louise Brealey (Molly) has just tweeted that the snog took four takes Envy Envy Envy Envy

DziezkoDisco · 01/01/2014 23:17

It was brilliant.

depankrispaneven · 01/01/2014 23:21

Why do we always get people turning up on threads like this moaning that they're disappointed? Do they expect a TV programme watched and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people to be made to fit their expectations and no-one else's? Or are they just doing it for effect?

iismum · 01/01/2014 23:24

Kind of enjoyed it, but I can't figure out a couple of key things ... am I being a bit thick?!

Firstly, why didn't he tell John he was still alive? He trusts John with all his cases, and yet he really couldn't trust him to not tell people he was alive? Even though he knew how much John was suffering? He trusts him less than that long list of people he did tell (and we don't know how long it is, because some people he did tell (e.g., parents) weren't on the list he originally told John.)

Secondly, why was it so important to fool John into thinking he was dead? As far as I understand it, he had to get Moriaty's crime ring to think he was dead, but the explanations were all about making sure John never saw what was happening. Surely if they really did close off the whole road this would have been discoverable to Moriaty's henchmen, because they weren't in the specific spot from which it was impossible to see what was going on. Though I guess we still don't really know how it was done ... Still, surely it's about fooling Moriaty's people, not John?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/01/2014 23:26

Loved it.

Subtle and really funny. Roll on Sunday.

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 01/01/2014 23:27

I did enjoy how he's seems to have have plundered the forums (and fanfics by the looks of it).

I liked his clients from the original short stories, we had A Case of Identity and one other I think?

I can't say much of it wowed me though... I don't like it when I get most things ahead of him (especially the underground bit, I thought he was slow on the uptake there!). I like getting one or two to make me feel clever, and then being amazed at his deductions for the others. Although I have been watching a lot of The Mentalist recently, so I'm probably just on the right wavelength!

HazeltheMcWitch · 01/01/2014 23:28

What? depankrispaneven ? Are we really only allowed to post here if we are 100% happy with everything? IS that just this topic, or does it apply to the whole of MN?

Nerfmother · 01/01/2014 23:29

Scatter the mentalist is amazing!

HazeltheMcWitch · 01/01/2014 23:29

In other ridiculous news, I am enjoying reading the DM review Shock - especially the bit about how Tim Freeman's acting was really good. Dominic Cumberbatch mentioned too, obvs.

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 01/01/2014 23:30

That sounds more negative than I meant actually. There were loads of little bits I liked, but just felt the actual story lacked a bit of oomph, compared to, say, A Scandal in Belgravia.

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 01/01/2014 23:32

I'm looking forward to it coming back on Nerf. Bother those Americans and their mid-season breaks!

HazeltheMcWitch · 01/01/2014 23:36

Is the Mentalist the one with the lovely blond chap from Home and Away ?

Furball · 01/01/2014 23:39

hazel - That article is unbelievable Shock

'Quieter and more human, as Doctor Watson, Tim Freeman actually upstaged Sherlock's star Dominic Cumberbatch

'Dominic Cumberbatch is a terrific Holmes of course, virtually irresistible. But, like the equally excellent Jeremy Brett before him, at times he veered towards camp.
When Mycroft told him that learning Serbian had taken him 'a couple of hours', for example, Holmes quipped: 'you're slipping.'
But then Gatiss was so smart and audacious, he simply acknowledged Holmes was capable of being irritating by having Watson’s voice appearing in Holmes’ head reprimanding him for being a ‘smarta**e’ and mocking him by carping ‘you forgot to put your collar up.’
Sherlock is supposed to be Cumberbatch’s show – literally and figuratively - but he was regularly, royally upstaged by Tim Freeman whose performance as Watson is quieter and more human'

MellowMarshmallow · 01/01/2014 23:48

I might be being a bit thick about the train. I thought on a tube train you had a drivers car at each end, with carriages inbetween and interconnecting doors. if you took the drivers carriage off the back you would have a very funny looking train pull into the next station. wouldn't a missing drivers car be really obvious on the CCTV and to whoever turned up at work the next day to drive it?
