Following on from the first thread...

It took me ages to get to sleep last night. I'm not particularly maudlin in general but that was shocking.

Predictions: Isabel and Mosley die.

OP posts:
GeorginaWorsley · 27/10/2013 22:05

Don't think granny will die.
Julian Fellowes promised no more major deaths this series!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/10/2013 22:05

Looks a cheerful episode all around...

EricLovesAnyFucker · 27/10/2013 22:05

Evil rapist valet is back
Dowager dame is going to pop her clogs
And good on ya Rose

Chubfuddler · 27/10/2013 22:05

Perhaps Edith will conceal pregnancy and deliver at Christmas, like mary last year.

GeorginaWorsley · 27/10/2013 22:07

Yes Thomas will suss situation re Anna out next week.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/10/2013 22:09

Oh of course, I'd forgotten that was a fashion.

MissMarplesBloomers · 27/10/2013 22:10

Yes Chub- polks as in preoccupe (accent over the e)

BOF · 27/10/2013 22:13

Going by the mention of The Sheik at the pictures, it's meant to be 1921, I think.

Chubfuddler · 27/10/2013 22:18

Maybe gregson will be banged up with hitler. Didn't she mention Munich?

FreyaFridays · 27/10/2013 22:30

Can't be, didn't Sybil die in 1920? And baby Sybbie is over a year older than her cousin, who himself is now more than six months old... must be at least 1922-23.

baffles self with maths

Chubfuddler · 27/10/2013 22:35

The series started in 1922. I think it's a few months after the start of the series now. Coming up to 1923.

I predict gregson reappears in a black shirt v shortly.

MadameDefarge · 27/10/2013 22:35

I think she meant preoccupe as in the French version of preoccupied. sorry can't do accents.

Clawdy · 27/10/2013 22:36

Really irritated by that scene with The Dowager looking smug and the doctor crowing "Game, set and match to Lady Violet!" just because she'd reinstated a poor lad she should never have sacked! And if Isobel hadn't sorted it,he would have been out of a job with no prospect of any future employment!

MissMarplesBloomers · 27/10/2013 22:38

If he becomes German then he will be on The Wrong Side in a few years & Edith will be torn even more......if he's still around?

Any more ideas on what she signed?

BOF · 27/10/2013 23:26

As long as it's before 1924, I don't care, because my point about Fellowes' crappy scriptwriting stands Grin

tribpot · 27/10/2013 23:54

The letter for anyone wishing to examine it. Is it really believable Edith would have visited a doctor in her own name and given her real address for correspondence?!

Could the incomparable Dame Maggie have got fed up of playing an arch aristo with the best lines after 4.5 series?

Ugh and the dreadful valet. Time for Anna to put her hard-won corpse-concealment skills to the test and do him in.

diddl · 28/10/2013 10:02

Perhaps Edith will be sent to the states?

limitedperiodonly · 28/10/2013 12:51

I don't think Edith's disgust is wrong in a dramatic sense, as opposed to a real life one.

I just don't understand her view, seeing as everybody else is so relaxed about it - apart from Carson, who's at least being consistent in raging at every assault on LIFE AS WE KNOW IT.

Thanks for that link to the letter btw. It flashed on and off far too quickly for slowcoach me to read it.

Maybe Maggie Smith doesn't want to be in it any more, or that much, anyway. I imagine it's very tiring.

Maybe she and Julian Fellowes have even had a conversation about what happens if she dies in harness.

Some older people can be extremely practical about their mortality.

Chubfuddler · 28/10/2013 12:55

I get her being taken aback, they all were. But she seemed pretty disgusted which was strange.

I don't like her so I'm always happy to have an excuse for a bit of a hate fest.

limitedperiodonly · 28/10/2013 13:01

For me the disgust didn't seem to come from anywhere and didn't go anywhere either. Granted, that is consistent for DA plotlines.

Also I find it odd that we've started to like Edith - well, obviously you're still holding out Wink - and now we're supposed to despise her again.

AndHarry · 28/10/2013 13:13

I think Edith might see out her pregnancy with Sam Bond in London.

OP posts:
quoteunquote · 28/10/2013 13:18

Edith is Unity Mitford from now on.

diddl · 28/10/2013 13:32

I still like Edith.

She's only ever wanted some attention & to be loved.

I blame the parents myselfGrin
