Following on from the first thread...

It took me ages to get to sleep last night. I'm not particularly maudlin in general but that was shocking.

Predictions: Isabel and Mosley die.

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 21/10/2013 09:19

I thought it was the ovaries extracted from a rabbit.

Chubfuddler · 21/10/2013 09:19

Shame she didn't get the Marie stopes book off evil Edna

Davros · 21/10/2013 11:14

When Edith turns out to be pg and turns to Mary for help what will happen after the Pamuk "affair"?!

eddiemairswife · 21/10/2013 11:23

If a rabbit is injected with a pregnant woman's urine its ovaries become enlarged.(A female rabbit, obviously!) I didn't know this; I just Googled it.

Chubfuddler · 21/10/2013 11:28

I hope Mary would tell her to get to fuck; but she wouldn't she's gone all nice. Remember what she said to Sybil
About marrying Tom: "whst did you think would happen, you'd marry the chauffeur and we'd all come to tea?"

Soft I tell you.

Ohnoididntdidi · 21/10/2013 11:58

Please can someone tell me what happened in the last five minutes as I missed it due to turning over to 4+1 for homeland. Got to the bit where bates looked menacing with dramatic music. What happened next? Please?

Chubfuddler · 21/10/2013 12:03

Bates has a new legal drama to embroil himself in, catch the rapist. But he and Anna are A1 again.

Ohnoididntdidi · 21/10/2013 12:12

Thank what's this about Edith too? Just had a shot of her going into docs then back from London. What happened then?

qazxc · 21/10/2013 12:22

FFS Bates! This is not about you! You are not the victim, Anna is!
Is him getting revenge more important than his DW, esp considering this exactly the sort of crap she was afraid of. i realise it's not true, honest!

Ohnoididntdidi · 21/10/2013 12:41

Oops posted twice

Chubfuddler · 21/10/2013 12:58

We don't know for sure. Is she worried she's preggers or was it a red herring? Not established.

Anna is mercifully not pregnant was a result of the rape.

NigellasGhost · 21/10/2013 14:20

I'm afraid I really cannot stand Bates OR Anna and I'm gutted that this story is going to run for 5 more weeks and into the Christmas special!

and I do hope Fellowes isn't going to put Mary and Pickle together, with their two sprogs, as a happy ending for dead Sybill or something.

AuntyEntropy · 21/10/2013 14:28

I appreciate the way Uncle Julian has jumped through hoops to bring out Serial Killer Bates again while still leaving him sort-of sympathetic. If Anna had told Bates about the rape straight out, but begged him not to take revenge for her sake, then he'd lose the moral high ground by ignoring her. This way, they've never had the "please don't kill him, I can't bear to lose you" conversation, so he's free to do whatever he fancies.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/10/2013 14:42

I cannot imagine why Edith and her chap think that him becoming German so he can divorce his mad wife and marry her is going to go down anything other than appallingly badly with her family!! They have just had the first world war, and I cannot imagine that the Germans were at all popular in Britain at that time.

So - he chooses to become German - that will be unpopular, divorces his wife - still pretty scandalous at that time, I believe - and then she will marry him and it will all be utterly forgiven? I don't think so!!

If anything, it will be worse than Sybil marrying the chauffeur!

BOF · 21/10/2013 14:42

Hmm, I've heard that Branston gets a new possible love interest- do we do spoilers on this thread?

boogiewoogie · 21/10/2013 14:51

Mary and Branson will not get together. That's a given. Her main suitors are Gillingham and Blake. Branson has a lot of respect for Mary and they are good as a platonic pair.

Bates won't succeed in killing Green. It will have to be someone "unexpected" for the twist in the plot. Still think Anna might kill him instead.

Edith's love affair is doomed. He's probably in a lot of trouble with debtors and they're coming after Edith instead. Poor Edith.

Did Jimmy tamper with Alfred's letter?

AuntyEntropy · 21/10/2013 15:06

Maybe Bates could kill Green and Anna could take the blame? Or she and Mrs Hughes will cook up the perfect alibi for him (ideally framing Thomas in the process). Or, best of all, Bates and Anna will use Branston's tickets to Americe to flee the country, not pausing to let the door hit them on the arse on the way out (not huge Bates fan).

BranchingOut · 21/10/2013 15:56

I don't really like the mad wife plot. I keep thinking of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's 'The Yellow Wallpaper'.

Is she really mad? How do we know? Is she being well treated in the asylum? And, what will happen to her if she is divorced?

BranchingOut · 21/10/2013 15:58

I thought the Alfred plot was ludicrous - one minute he is struggling to make a white sauce, the next minute he is going for an interview to cook at the Ritz.

DreaduCated · 21/10/2013 17:45

What if it's Thomas that somehow helps Anna/deals with Green? I feel like they're setting him up for something big, and the way he spoke about her, felt like it was setting the way for something.

phantomnamechanger · 21/10/2013 18:43

maybe Green dies in an accident but everyone suspects everyone else of having bumped him off?

DontmindifIdo · 21/10/2013 18:48

I thought Thomas hasn't been nasty enough, although there's been lots of him getting himself in with the family and all forgetting his pervious shittiness, so hopefully something good. Just so long as it isn't yet another "Thomas' gaydar going wrong, him trying to get up close and personal with a straight man with dramatic consequences" storyline.

ChocChaffinchEvilGhostBird · 21/10/2013 20:50

yes, boogie-woogie yes...
the debt thing with Edith has set me thinking
Mary's reappeared suitor is some kind of forensic accountant, isn't he

investigating which old houses are affordable / war affects. sounds a bit unbelievable to me... are they investigating Editor...?
