RobinBedRest · 17/09/2013 21:29

Why can't she use the pool?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:30

OMG thst was almost an eye roll..such contempt from that senior midwife

FrankelInFoal · 17/09/2013 21:31

They said the baby needs monitoring which can't be done in the pool.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:31

"Losing the plot" probably equals being in a lot of pain

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:32

Gas and air did sod all for me

notundermyfoof · 17/09/2013 21:32

Bless her, this is upsetting me and bringing back some horrible memories. It looked like she was trying to get off her back and they were stopping her moving.

lisbapalea · 17/09/2013 21:32

They made similar comments a couple of weeks ago about c-sections, suggesting women who have them are 'bad'. A midwife who's patient ended up with a section said she was really "disappointed" even though the woman was really happy. Like she had the right to be disappointed about what someone else did with their body to deliver their child.

Some of these midwives are lovely but some are horrid.

Am 26wks preg and feeling angsty - can you tell?!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:32

OMG she is feeling she has to apologise to them..how sad

RobinBedRest · 17/09/2013 21:33

No reason given for the need to monitor?

Are cords being cut too early? It seemed instantly then.

PumpUpMyVolume · 17/09/2013 21:34

Only took an hour Shock she did seem to not really be listening but that pain is pretty damn unbearable!

RobinBedRest · 17/09/2013 21:37

She should have known her options before going in and been treated alot better than she was. That midwife seemed to think guessing the baby's weight will leave us all thinking she is a fantastic whilst I actually want to throttle the lot of them.

squoosh · 17/09/2013 21:37

Poor little Griff-ette! Grin

HRHwheezing · 17/09/2013 21:38

That birth was amazing and pooed on tv. Impressive.

mignonette · 17/09/2013 21:38

MY step DD is starting her MW training soon and I cannot imagine how she will come across as she was rejected by eleven schools over two years for being dismissive. She is dismissive about the patients she works w/ as a maternity assistant. She will be at home on this unit.

'She did brilliantly, no G&A, nothing'. Oh so brilliant = no intervention and pain relief. They really are as dumb as a box of rocks regarding what they say and the messages it transmits.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:38

Grr at doing brilliantly to have no gas and air.

I had the works and a spinal block Grin

FunnyRunner · 17/09/2013 21:39

I can't watch these programmes. IME the MWs at my local hospital were mostly twats. I got more kindness and sympathy from the male doctors than I did from the female MWs. Funny that, isn't it? Hmm

FingerPicker · 17/09/2013 21:40

Envy of that pool birth.

A million miles away from my emcs which required a spinal block. What would those midwives think of me I wonder Angry

mignonette · 17/09/2013 21:40

I have Arnold Chiari malformation and had an epidural. I am not allowed to have a Lumbar Puncture though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:41

This MW seems a bit better

hettienne · 17/09/2013 21:41

So basically women shouldn't be asking for any pain relief, but also should be lying on their backs being continuously monitored?

Even DP is shouting WHY ARE THEY ALL ON THEIR BACKS at the TV Grin

Thurlow · 17/09/2013 21:41

God, I'm only half watching but that midwife could be a bit more sympathetic to the woman who has been in several times? "She might not cope too well" Hmm Do you know what? Some women don't cope and that's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.

Christ, if I knew that an epidural would definitely not be available to me than I'd be scared before labour!

Doodledumdums · 17/09/2013 21:42

Fuckwittery- Are there really risks when they give the baby a scalp monitor? I had NO idea there were risks involved. They gave my baby one without telling me of any risks or even asking permission, they just told me they were doing it.

This episode is really upsetting me. Their obvious views about epidurals are shocking. I had one with my DS and ended up with an emergency CS, and they have successfully made me feel like the CS was entirely my fault. Fucking idiots. I am so cross and upset. This programme has reduced me to tears.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/09/2013 21:43

Doodle..it's them not you
.Don't feel bad Thanks
