I know it's been shit for ages but its just dire atm. I'm a bit behind and stopped watching when bunhead Lauren was getting drunk. Switched back on and she's back from rehab. Was her rehab in the Maldives? I'm sick to the back teeth of her and joey. What a mockery they've made of teen drinking showing her recovered. She's a terrible actress.

Lucy is weird and for an eastender she's got a v posh accent. As has bobby. And Dennis. And Sharon.

And I really don't like how every victim of sexual abuse is portrayed as promiscuous. In one episode we see Kat dragging a guy into an alley for a quickie and Whitney getting into a car with strange men. Not every child victim is like kat and bloody Whitney. Utter tosh. I need another long break from it. I only came back to it cos corrie is terrible these days.

ooh! I didn't realise that about the girl from the pub. I was MNing at the time her dad did seem a bit dodgy didn't he? maybe she was a set-up to distract dexter while he ransacked the caravan and then he called her (didn't he?) to let her know the coast was clear?

Abby's always been on the chunky side. I think they did the casting well there because she does remind me of Tanya (although Abby annoys the f out of me)
Didn't really watch last nights, will give it a look later.

same here silver WRT abby/Tanya. I think soaps need to have more 'chunky' young actors tbh. they all seem to be stick thin at the moment. i'm thinking of poppy/lauren/lucy. even dexter and jay are very thin. Tanya and abby although both heavier, dress really well and don't appear overweight to me.

I find it hard to concentrate on EE lately - its such a lot of bollocks.
As if Phil would trust a bunch of teenagers with a deal like that.

I thought how stupid it is when Lauren is an alcoholic that as soon as she gets back her family have a party with alcohol, they have it in the house, max is constantly drinking,in front of her and she goes on a night out with her 'friends' to a club. Surely if your dd was an alcoholic you wouldn't do this.

I am bored of all the Lucy,Whitney,Joey,Lauren thing. How,many times can he be with one and chest with another. Plus Lucy is meant to be her best friend and spikes her drink, tries to steal her boyfriend. Who needs friends like,that.

cleo I know, right! My best friend is a recovering alcoholic. She has been sober for 11 years, she still goes to meeting 3 times a week at least, and although she now goes to pubs bars etc and has people dinking around her, it took years to get to that stage.

Are Carl and the northern guy from Lauren's counselling brothers? Can't tell them apart. I've decided to switch off until Carl fucks off. I can't watch his Carl comedy villain routine. He makes me throw things at the tv.

so cindy stole the money - that will REALLY make the rest of the teenagers in ee like her - not!!!!

and yes the lauren/booze story is stupid - her family/friends would try the best to avoid booze if for the first 6mths around her

and if that addicted and shakes etc, she wouldnt be ok in 2 weeks and back to normal life

Bakingnovice, you are so right. I have watched EE on and off since it began (old gimmer) Lately we have loads of eps stacked up on SkyPlus and I'm just not interested in watching them..

I hate Carl, I hate how they have to have a nasty baddie in at all times they are always unrealistically evil with no good points. Cindy Jr was so obviously the thief she may as well have worn an "I stole it" T shirt.

Janine is just frustrating to watch. she can only do bitch these days.

I might watch again when Ronnie comes out and the cast are all over the age of 19 again. I do like NewPeter though.

I know it's a cliche but it really is too depressing for words. Its misery heaped upon misery. There is no light relief. I just don't want to watch it right now.

It seems to be:

Carl being menacing and scaring people.
Phil being menacing and scaring people.
Cindy Jnr being panto style sly and crafty.
Janine making Michael's life a misery.
Billy getting fired and rehired all the time.

The message ends up being: nothing good ever happens and if it does it soon goes wrong. You may as will give up now. Life is all grey and misery.

Where Corrie gets it right is where they do a little comedy scene or a one liner when things get too dark.

Chocs you are spot on. Why is Ian always being blackmailed? It's the same story he's had for 20 years. And how can Carl turn up and demand Derek's money? I never thought if say this but after seeing Carl I want Derek back. Carl is too tiny to be scary and his face makes my eyeballs itch.
