He did a pretty good Dalek yesterday, ds who is 5 and a massive Dr Who fan was very impressed.

Oh lord, mustn't let dd see before her birthday in 2 weeks or I'll be making bloody dalek cakes as well.

A tardis I can just about manage, being a cube, but a dalek is not going to happen in my kitchen.....

I also find Ruby very annoying and have a horrible thought that the way she's being edited is to prepare us for her winning - they love a 'journey' and the whole 'student in a garret cooking with one wooden spoon' things is, I'm sure, very appealing. The cynical part of me wonders that if she was a 45 year old, plain, mature student doing the same thing, she would be getting quite so much positive feedback.

I like Glenn too and I loved the look of his traybake. 'Grotesque' was over the top and a cruel but also a silly thing to say.

Howard's traybake was boring but I love him.

Glad Rob went. He had nothing but some ill-thought-out ideas. The edible glue looked horrible.

I agree Ruby is fishing for compliments. And how come she was allowed to go on about her exams and Glenn got shot down for mentioning that he'd had a tough week?

Glenn didnt get shot down. Paul was at both him and Ruby, Mary was kind. I love both Glen and Ruby. Ruby isnt fishing for compliments, and neither is Howard (the other nervy one). They are just nervy. Better that than up yourself, like Kimberly, surely? The ones I don't like so much are Kimberly (lovely smile, when she knows the camera is on her, but when she doesn't know the camera is on her she has shot some incredibly filthy looks at other competitors), Frances, and the one who won top baker last night whose name I don't know. But she looks like the actress Anne Reid. The reason I don't know what her name is every time she appears on screen my kids start shouting 'plasmavore' or 'watch out, she's got a straw' or 'blood! Lovely lovely blood' at the screen and I never actually hear her name.

Paul tells Ruby off with a twinkle in his eye. He was just horrid to Glenn. He's never said anything as rude as 'Grotesque' to Ruby.

And I think she is fishing. I don't care if people disagree .

I agree, lirael, they love a hard-luck story and even better if the protagonist is young and photogenic. Very interesting point about if it was an 'unattractive' mature student.

I liked Christine's Bavarian clock tower although I was unaware that we Bavarians are famous for clocktowers.

Just ds has already grand plans for the Dr Who themed birthday cake he wants for his 6th birthday in December. I fear he greatly overestimates my decorating talents.

That's Christine Russian and thank you for telling me who she reminds me off. It's been bothering me since the series started.

They did look grotesque. Then he ate them and said they tasted lovely. That's fair enough I think. He was highly praising of Glenn all episode. But Glenn's food does always look....like he has eyes bigger than his stomach. That's a fact.

I agree about the nerves of Ruby and Glenn. I reckon Kim's not too upherself she did tell herself to get more organised or something yesterday she didn't like doing badly maybe because she's got used to doing well.

I know she does Russian. I love that episode of Dr Who. We shout "watch out, she is a plasmavore" every time Anne Reid comes on TV. I can't believe I didn't realize that's who Christine reminds me of.

I agree Ruby is nervy - that's not what annoys me. It would be endearing (as Howard's is) if she didn't go ' Oh it's horrible, I'm so ashamed of myself' at every opportunity and then gasp ' Reeaaaally? I'm so shocked you like it' when the judges praise her. I'm pretty certain it's not deliberate - she's 18 years old so allowed a bit of insecurity - but I still find it irritating.

I love Ann Reid too.

Ruby is super-annoying with her "oh I'm so rubbish" schtick and her gormless face - makes me want to boot her up the backside.

I think Kimberley will win - she's obviously an amazing baker and is also in it to win it - she never says what the others say and don't mean which is "All I ever wanted was to stay in past week one and have some fun". That might come across as smug - and perhaps she is a bit - but she's very, very good. I want her to win, a lot.

Ruby reminds me of Kathryn last year, very sweet and needy and sometimes annoying.

I love Howard. LOVE. I want him or Christine to win, or Kimberley.

I can't tell you how much I laughed at Mel's face when the tower went over. I was very scathing about Frances and her annoyingly overdone designs. Dd said that she thinks that Frances finds it difficult to make friends and that is why she over achieves, to make people like her. Fuck knows how a teenager gets all that from a cake baking programme.

Mary seems very sweet to Ruby as well it's not just the men Quangle She won't win but she is good esp. for a baby She does have an appealing pre - raphaelite model look.
