Very excited!

Paul Hollywood does piss me off tbh, but I love seeing all the cakes & stuff. Will probably have to make something to eat whilst watching it though...

OP posts:
Merguez · 17/09/2013 21:13

Paul's shirt was something else...

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2013 21:27

Felt sorry for Ruby she looked tired after her exams. Fancy telling the judges that her traybakes were noo good before they'd even tasted them.

good for Christine she really deserved star baker this week those short breads and the Hansel and Gretel house looked gorgeous.

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2013 21:29

Weirdly I didn't notice the shirt, what was so odd about it merguez?

PumpUpMyVolume · 17/09/2013 21:29

I didn't think Mel knocked it over.. It was already quite unstable and i reckon she'd have owned up if she had, a la Sue and Elbowgate Grin

ArtisanLentilWeaver · 17/09/2013 21:31

Biscuit TowerGate.

Tommy · 17/09/2013 21:35

don't know if anyone's mentioned this (or noticed!) but Paul seems to be a bit negative towards the men - is he trying to get rod of any competition before he makes a slimey old man move on Ruby?
Hmm

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2013 21:35

Pump I thought that it was very unstable and Mel just touched it gently and it fell. She did look guilty but it would've fallen down when it was taken to be judged anyway Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/09/2013 21:40

I really, really want to have a go at macarons - I have had bought ones and loved them.

I think Frances' tower was inherently unstable, because it was too tall for its diameter at the base.

I did get very cross with Ruby's self-deprecation today - I find it a bit manipulative - I think she's trying to get them to say 'there, there, I am sure they are fine!'. I am not a Ruby fan.

I rather liked the look of the Dalek, but I think I would have been a bit put off by the visible clots of edible glue.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 17/09/2013 21:47

Ruby annoys me too. Far too needy.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/09/2013 21:49

And I feel as if we are Bad People, who kick puppies and steal sweets from little children, when we criticise sweet, fluffy Ruby.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/09/2013 21:50

I should add, I only steal sweets from my own children, and have never kicked a puppy, and am sure Exit has never done either.

pooka · 17/09/2013 21:51

I rewound and am pretty certain that mel didn't touch the tower - she was measuring it from a distance. The vibration of the ruler on the worksurface might have done it.

dementedma · 17/09/2013 22:01

We love Glen but think Kim will win. Howard is just.. Well, words fail me

PumpUpMyVolume · 17/09/2013 22:26

See, i need one of those fancy tv box things as am just trusting that Mel is as sweet as she appears and wouldn't have let Frances take the fall (pun intended) if she was involved...

I'm sure Mr Monkseal will know all when he gets his blog up this week (one of the definite highlights of my week!)

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 17/09/2013 22:28

Love Howard, I become irrationally angry whenever Mary or Paul say anything remotely negative to him. How very dare they?!
I'm sure his soggy tuilles tasted just fine, and flapjacks should be chunky IMO. Angry Grin

The teacher bloke annoys me, I bet he's one of those sorts who says "I'm mad me, just so random".
I reckon he's after getting a show of his own, every cringeworthy thing that comes out of his mouth is so contrived and 'wacky'.

cocolepew · 17/09/2013 22:36

Ruby is annoying, pouting and sighing and fishing for compliments.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 17/09/2013 22:45
ExitPursuedByADragon · 17/09/2013 22:47

DH loves Ruby's eyes. Sigh. Deluded twat.

Bakingnovice · 17/09/2013 22:55

Yes ruby is annoying. And very smug and confident in a 'I just threw these ingredients together' kind of way. But we all know she must practice her backside off like all the others. She's v beautiful though.

wintera · 18/09/2013 07:16

This week was a real turn around. All the good ones had crap week and the mediocre ones excelled. Hope both Kim and Ruby are better next week. Glad Christine got star baker. Agreed with Rob going even though I quite liked him. That dalek just did not look nice to eat at all. Mel definitely didn't touch that tower but as someone else said, I think it was the motion of the ruler or her arm that did it. But it was very unstable though so don't really think it was her fault.

VikingVagine · 18/09/2013 07:31

The mighty Monkseal is on holiday Shock

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/09/2013 07:37

I don't like Ruby, she has a permanent look of a sulking child on her face. I think I want a Kimberly to win... I don't like Howard, he seems dull.

I like Glen. I wish he was my teacher.

carabos · 18/09/2013 08:17

Don't get all the fawning over Ruby, all the ooh you're so clever, you're a poor philosophy student and Ruby herself constantly whining about her exams, her lack of equipment, her shaky hands. I have a horrible feeling she's going to win.

I'm in Team Kim, but I suspect that she's going to have a total disaster week and go out earlier than she deserves to clear the way for Ruby. Hate the way PH is horrible to Becca. He obviously dislikes her and its embarrassingly obvious. Great to see Christine get star baker. Love Howard, but oh dear...

JustBecauseICan · 18/09/2013 08:23

Who went out?

Thank you! (dd need to catch up from last week still but I like to know in advance!)

Gracelo · 18/09/2013 08:42

I like Ruby and I'd like to eat everything she bakes. I often do that that I criticize my own baking before anybody else gets a chance to.

I'm making Kimberley's chicken, bacon and butternut squash filo pie from last week's program for tea tonight. I'm quite looking forward to it.
