Sad have been lurking on my phone. sad Andy is out. oh well- can't win them all.

Raahh · 06/09/2013 09:36

well, no senior men in action today-but in the interest of fairness, here's today's order of play
Friday Order of Play. There's some wheelchair matches too- and we have Gordon Reid in both singles and doubles there.

I don't know much about Pennetta, and so on that basis(highly scientificGrin) I think Azarenka has the edge. I really, really like Li Na, and would love her to get to the final. Busy day for Serena though, as she plays a doubles semi after her singles one.

at least I won't be checking results on my laptop at 3am Grin

Evening all. So, I know we haven't actually seen much of the Open, but I still have that horrid "it's nearly" finished feeling now the end is drawing ever nearer.

My dh has been embarrassing me all over the place today. Firstly, we arranged to meet at John Lewis earlier. He apparently couldn't find me didn't think to look in the dishwasher section tho did he, even though we had primarily gone there to look at dishwashers. So he went up the escalators in search of me, to be met at the top by a helpful young man. Young man asked "can I help you find anything sir?" To which dh replied "yes, my wife". Young man apparently looked perplexed. So did I when, later, having found each other in the dishwasher section, we went up to the cafe and the same young man was at the top still. Dh said to him "I found her, she's well worth looking for isn't she?" Poor lad didn't know where to look or what to say.

Secondly, we went in to an estate agents which is managed by someone we sort of know via ds1's rugby club - so not a friend but a bit more than an acquaintance I suppose. We were having a long conversation about all sorts when dh suddenly came out with "So Michael, why were you so old before you had children?" I was mortified! Fortunately, despite my saying "You can't ask him that, it's so personal, Michael please feel free to ignore him", Michael seemed more than happy to launch into a long complicated story involving his past romantic history ....

Juan - I know how you feel, I had the same feeling this morning when I realised there were no men's matches on today. Even though i haven't seen any of it, I'm quite obsessed.BlushTennis

pmsl- dh's can be embarrassing can't they!

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 20:28

Yes Raah, dhs are even worse than parents.

We have three tv's downstairs and all three of them are blaring out footy. Ds1 and 3 are watching in one room, dh is watching in another, and ds2 and about 1000 (well, ten) of his mates are watching in the third. I am well and truly outnumbered and I hate football.

ClayDavis · 06/09/2013 20:36

Forget about dh's. It's about a million times worse when you do it yourself and have to try to dig yourself out of the hole. Although it would have been better if the hole had just swallowed me up.

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:03

Oh dear Clay, what have you done?!

Raahh · 06/09/2013 21:09

Grin @ Clay.

Azarenka looks like she's winning

I wonder if RooFoo is watchingGrin

Raahh · 06/09/2013 21:10

RedFoo

not that it matters. Stoopid name.

ClayDavis · 06/09/2013 21:26

For some reason, god knows why, I thought it would be a good idea to ask about the questionable paternity of my friend's baby the first time I saw her after the birth. It's not the sort of question I would ever ask. I heard it come out of my mouth and thought WTF. Everybody else was just Shock.

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:31

Hmm, I can see how that might put you on the spot a bit! What did your friend say?!

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:34

Oh Raahh, I happened to catch an episode of Doctors today for the first time - some poor bloke was tied up in a cellar while some other mad bloke tried to trap a woman into marrying him? Was quite enjoying it but for the fact dh kept trying to engage me in a fascinating conversation about plumbing.

ClayDavis · 06/09/2013 21:37

Fortunately, we were in a pub so chose that moment to get the next round in so its never ever been mentioned again. Except for a couple of friends who found it hilariously funny because 'everybody was thinking it but no one actually dared to ask it', although she did answer the question while I was at the bar. Honestly, I'm the least likely person to ever ask that question. I have no idea what I was thinking.

ClayDavis · 06/09/2013 21:38

That really was a WTF episode to pick for your first episode, Juan.

Raahh · 06/09/2013 21:42

Juan- today's Doctors was indeed a master of the WTF? genre. With a goldfishGrin

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:43

Oh are you a fan too Clay? Am I missing out?! Will I find someone to take my mind of Potato?! Dd has entered her name in my phone as 'Juan Martin Del Potro', how sad does that make me?!

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:43

Mind 'off', not 'of'.

Raahh · 06/09/2013 21:44

Actually, it's given me an idea. The dcs are after a pet. Maybe Icould get a goldfish called Rafa?

pets don't last long in our house

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:45

Oh yes, didn't see episode from beginning, so not wholly aware of the goldfish's significance. Am I right in thinking it was called Alice?

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/09/2013 21:46

Great idea Raahh, you can tell all and sundry you have to get home to feed Rafa who will be hungry after his swimming sessions.

Raahh · 06/09/2013 21:49

Juan- yes, the fish was Alice. Which is funny, as one of the fish we had years ago was called 'Alice Fish' as ds was 3 at the time, and it was the name of his cousinGrin

I missed the significance too. I was too busy making rude commentsGrin

ClayDavis · 06/09/2013 21:50

I don't think the goldfish had much significance other than the fact the stalker had stolen it previously.

I spent many a day at uni developing my doctors addiction. I don;t get to watch it live these days now I'm back at work but always catch up on iplayer when I get home in the evening.

ClayDavis · 07/09/2013 10:23

Men's semi finals day.

Djok/Wawrinka up first at about 5pm. Nadal/Gasquet up after that.
