It's telling me that I'm not logged in and don't have permission to access that page. Will try and register and see what happens.

I took my eye off the tennis for an hour and its all gone wrong. Fed's about to go 2 sets down to Robredo and Ferrer has dropped the second set to Tipsaravic and is a break down in the third. Nadal just coming on now.

VAMOS

ClayDavis · 03/09/2013 01:32

Fed's out and Nadal's lost the first set Shock.

It's going to be like Wipeout Wednesday all over again if they're not careful.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 05:42

Just been woken up by dh getting up for work.

Not that surprised at the fed result- Robredo has had some great results since coming back from injury. Tipsarevic is always a dangerous opponent, so I was relieved to see ferrer through,-and despite the close first set, it was business as usual for nadal- vamos !!

And I can't see any of the links- do I have to sign up?

Good morning Tennis ladies
Fed out then? I am sort of wondering why he didn't retire at the height of his game and go out the tennis genius that he was. I find it kind of sad to see him plodding along, his body getting perhaps a bit to strained to keep up with the younger ones. He is loosing a lot and I know he loves the game, he says so and is so passionate about it all so I understand why he is carrying on but it would be a huge shame for him to end up a clinger on and desperately trying. From the winner he once was.... What's that saying about leaving the room/party early? Or something like that? I don't recall. I bet he would make a great coach though, like Lendel for Murray sort of thing.

How did Rafa do?

I have sports day today - absolute yuk - I am far too old to leave my house in trainers and a top (Iron Maiden being the only T shirt I own that still actually fits me) and a pair of cut off gym bottoms. Okay for a gym but a sports day? You know, taking part and trying to actually win?? Hair messed up, makeup streaked off, possible first hot flush as I leg it down a field? Lots and lots of nimble youngsters overtaking me as I puff and pant my way to the line thinking, for the love of God, make it stop... Its torture. And today my boobs decide to begin to hurt, as in, period soon which means by lunchtime I will be grabbing them if I have to move faster than a snail, so they do not hurt as I move.

However, I have a lovely, dippy, male tutor. He smokes roll ups in the bunch of trees by the center and allowed me to sneak out of class yesterday to see to my son who he saw hanging about at my car as he was out having a rollie... Massively appreciated. When I finished, son was in car with door open, feet up on dash (which he got a clout for) and on his Ds as content as can be as he knew I was in building behind him and he only had to wait for me Smile

Raahh · 03/09/2013 10:31

Morning sieze . Hope your day goes well! Lovely story about your ds.

Nadal won in 4- first set went to a tie break, then 3 straightforward sets. He's yet to have his serve broken this tournament, apparently.

It's a difficult one with Federer- he was pretty much written off before last year's Wimbledon- then he won it, and reached the Olympic final. He hates any questions regarding retirement- and I suppose it's hard to know when to stop. The extreme is Borg- who retired at the grand old age of 25, and at an age at which most players these days are only just getting into their stride. I don't think it's his age, in Federer's case that is causing the problem. There are many players in their late 20's/30's now who are coming into their own. Ferrer is one, and Haas. Injuries are finally catching up with Fed, though.

Mentally is must be a huge pressure to be at the very top for a decade, and all the expectation that brings. Now he's hearing nothing but disappointed sighs every time he loses, and constant press speculation about retirement- it has to be frustrating. It's easy to see why he's digging his heels in, but no-one wants to see him fade away.

Ds and dd1 safely back at school. it's very quietGrin

Raahh · 03/09/2013 10:37

And i finally got to see the pics-aww! Isn't he sweet? Love the dog.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 10:38

All those pictures are reminding me of the massive poster I had of Edberg on my bedroom doorBlush.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 10:43

and finally

ORDER OF PLAY

Hope Hewitt can continue, so knocking out Del Potato won't be for nothingGrinHe's probably got Djokovic next though...

I have just spent ages going through the list of forthcoming tournaments on the Menstennisforum to see who's playing where! Good to see Tsonga on the list for the Moselle Open- not a huge event, but good to get back into it. Plus it's on home turf. (well, an indoor hard courtGrin) Hope he doesn't withdraw.

FarleyD · 03/09/2013 17:54

Hi all, dc back tomorrow, feeling jittery (me, not them!). Did your first school run of the year go smoothly raahh?

Sounds as if all is going well for you sieze, particularly like the sound of your tutor! It must be so reassuring for your ds knowing you're nearby. Why on earth are they making an old lady like you run?! I can call you old cos I'm pretty sure I'm the oldest of the lot of you!

My eldest ds came home today after ten days in Doncaster with his girlfriend. It was lovely to see him but he'll be going back to uni in a fortnight or so and I will get very upset. When he first left this time last year I cried for about a month. One day I was in sainsburys about to pick up some onions when it struck me that only ds1 liked onions and he wasn't here to eat them. I started crying and a very nice gent came and took me in hand (as it were)!

I'm a bit ambiguous about Roger - it would be so sad if his glory years were overlooked by his refusal to quit while he was ahead. On the other hand, if anyone has earned the right to keep playing tennis, then he surely has. And as long as he's doing it for the right reasons, which he says he is, then power to his elbow. The main problem I have with Roger is that he bears a marked resemblance to my oaf of a brother, but I suppose I can't really hold that against him!

FarleyD · 03/09/2013 17:57

Oh, and did anyone have a chance to think of an alternative to my "JuanPotatoTwo" name change please?

FarleyD · 03/09/2013 17:58

I reeally don't want Lleyton to beat Djok, we will be on opposite sides of the fence for that one Raahh!

Raahh · 03/09/2013 18:08

I liked JuanPotatoTwo Blush

Ds has come home buzzing after his first day in year 6. DD1 has come home from her first day in year 3, tired and unable to tell me what she did. Except their topic is chocolate Grin and this will include a trip to Cadbury world. Hmm.

I'm tiredGrin

Raahh · 03/09/2013 18:12

Farley- I'm not sure where i stand on the Hewitt/Djoko match-up. I do like Hewitt, and have never been a Djoko fan . But I suppose I'm really looking at it from the side of 'which one is Nadal more likely to comfortably beat'Grin

ClayDavis · 03/09/2013 18:20

I'm not really a fan of Djok. I did used to quite like Hewitt so might come down on that side of the fence.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 18:20

Youzhney has won the first set against Hewitt, reasonably quickly.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 18:21

Youzhny

Chubfuddler · 03/09/2013 18:45

Oh come on lleyton.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 18:59

Lleyton coming back for the second set. This has the potential to be a loooong match.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 19:27

pmsl @ the patient asking Daniel to be a model. Bet he'd love to do it, really.

Raahh · 03/09/2013 19:29

ooh- Al's sleuthing could be coming off after all.
