Firstly - don't you just love it? I can watch it again and again and it always makes me laugh. Earlier we had Bryn saying "Fee Fi Fo Fum" and then "Joking, I am - I'm not really a giant".

Secondly - why is Owain Hughes funny?

Thirdly - Ness was nearly in All Saints, drove trucks for Eddie Stobart, worked in Bollywood and nannied for Richard and Judy. What else?

I love the episode where Pete and Dawn renew their vows, when Pete is showing the ring to Pam and she shouts 'oh my Christ'. I can watch it over and over.

Also, when they have the fight in the kitchen when Gavin and Stacey are moving back to Barry and Dawn says to Pam 'I will back you all the way, punch her in the face'. I still cry with laughter.

The line 'I'm not really a giant' floors me every time! One of the funniest shows ever, I love all the little extra bits like when they all dance to Madness and when the men discuss oven gloves v tea towels. My favourite episodes are the Xmas special and the one where they all go to the beach. I tell my DD that we are going to be like Pam and Mick when she's older and has mates round DH says I am already like Pamelaar.

Hasn't it been bought by American tv too. Remade but looks good. Can't think of the name though

Us and Them, I think. Will it translate do you reckon?

It'll probably be a New York family - hard and trendy vs. a southern family - soft and hick!

I'll watch it but I doubt it will translate. The American Inbetweeners was god awful however the American Office is actually better then the British version.

Omg I absolutely love Gavin and Stacey.

The bit where they find Pete's Mum behind the living room bar the next day.

The bit when Smithy won't share his take-away. I also agree with this!

The bit where Pamalaaar pops in to tell them she's putting in her earphones so they can let themselves go in bed.

Stacey showering whilst Nessa has a bath.

Oh and does anyone fancy an omelette?

AND Smithy teaching Pam how to play Shag, Marry, Push off a cliff (or equivalent) and Gav is in the car cringing.

Nessa was also a bouncer but it wasn't a good life for an attractive woman. She doesn't miss the rage or coming home and soaking her knuckles in a bowl of ice.

Love the unspoken 'how old is Nessa?' thing.

The lady who played Doris died last year! Sad
I love G&S too. I saw Matthew Horne on The Tube a few years ago. He got on at one of the Claphams and sat opposite me hiding behind a copy of The Sun. His eyes are amazing but he has the skinniest legs I have ever seen. He got off at Bank when I did and it was like following a human flamingo!! Grin

Nessa was also a roadie for The Who.

I love the episode where Pam joins in the anti mobile phone mast protest, "tumour brains, Mick!" but spends most of the protest complaining about her rubbish mobile reception.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not like Stacey very much? I find her really selfish and spoilt.

Yay, a G&S thread! I love, love, love it. I lived in Barry when it was being filmed so it is extra special for me in that way - love watching it and seeing familiar places :)

It is probably the funniest thing I've ever seem on tv, proper laugh out loud funny. I also love the Christmas special and the phone mast episode and also the one where they're having a BBQ in the garden and Dick Powell comes round selling sausages and Doris sings There Is A Light That Will Never Go Out by the Smiths. But I honestly love all of them. I watched them all first time round on tv then bought them on DVD and still watch the repeats when they're on tv now. It never gets old.

I agree about Stacey though. She is spoilt and selfish and my least favourite character. My faves are Pam and Mick.

Did anyone watch Fat Friends? Pam, Nessa and Smithy were in that too. It was brilliant and I've got the boxset of that somewhere. Different kind of humour but fab all the same.

I am rofl laughing at the poster stalking flamingo legged Gavin btw Grin

I'm not sure if she stills does it but the lady who owns Gwen's house used to invite fans in to look round and have a cuppa... Did you know that Pam and Mick's house isn't actually in Essex but also in South Wales - Cowbridge if I remember rightly, which is down the road from Barry. Apparently the owners of Pam and Mick's house weren't so happy about fans knocking their door and trying to peer into their garden! Can't say I blame them though!

I think the Christmas special is perfect. It feels like the Christmases I have iykwim.

I know what you mean, it has a perfect Christmas feel to it - all the fun and magic and mishaps and hilarity of different family members brought together on that one day, all if them great in their own ways, some fun, some odd...ahhh

Love love the episode where Nessa gives birth. I laugh out loud every time Gav and Smitthy fall over on the wet floor in the hospital. All those tender scenes as she hands the baby over - then finding out they both want to call the baby Neil - then Pam saying she always thought Smithy was called Colin. Immense. Also love the episode where Bryn gives Stacey a mock interview as Declan Mcpartlan and Doris telling Gwen she's not making fat girl's salad for the christening because of the 20 grand she owes her which she's repaying at £1 pw !!!! Not to mention Leighton and Howard and Ahmed - 3 of Stacey's five engagements. Lush.

I'm not a stalker! Shock Grin He just happened to get off at the same stop as me!! I felt sorry for him as people were staring at him!Sad

Haha, sorry LottieJenkins. When you said you were following him I thought you meant you were following him iyswim? I probably assumed you were stalking him because that's what I would've done in the same situation Grin

For the sake of my own amusement can I continue to imagine you as a mad Gavin and Stacey fan stalking after the lovely flamingo legged Mathew Horne? Grin

Lottie - I'm very much afraid that in my head you will forever be Flamingo Gav's Stalker now :o

You're right about Stacey - she is very spoilt. But there's still a sweetness about her, the sort of innocence that Bryn and Gwen also have. Apart from that scene in the chemist where she out-stares the girl she hates - that's yet another brilliant moment.

Love Stacey in the first series but could seriously punch her in series two, especially the bit where Gwen offers her bedroom to Nessa and she throws a pathetic wee strop Hmm

Feel sorry for her being homesick though. Must say the one magical thing about this series is how JC and RJ have made it so realistic yet so watchable and funny iyswim?

I always cry at the episode where they've separated and she's at bingo, he's at the foam party and they run out to phone each other...

'We're going to be all right aren't we?'

'Of course we are! Of course we are!'

Sad
