Is there a general Emmerdale thread?

I've found a couple of threads about particular characters but was wondering if there was one just for general observations and if we could have a hands up to see if anyone else cried at Brenda's hair thing. I thought all those tears and smiles looked real

Ooh, so pleased I found this thread :) I bloody love occasionally watch it Grin

So what do I know/think...... hmm well they've mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Alan Turner had gone off to France with some biker friends, I think that will lead to them dealing with his RL passing eventually.

Jimmy helped Edna out by paying a lot of her debts and fixing up her house (he obviously felt guilty about being spineless while Charity was taking over)

I hope they sort Nikill out soon, I can't cope with his one and only face of nothing (but they CAN keep him in the lycra a bit longer Grin )

I hate Debbie (her and David have just split up in RL) I also hate that Kerry, she can do one and take Victoria with her. Love love love Cane and Moira. More than ready for the whole Cameron thing to be over now. I can't believe for a second if the police were looking for a reason for the accident they wouldn't have listened to the dictaphone before handing it back.

WannaBe in fairness last week Brenda was saying she was never going to get over Gennie's death and Bob was saying 'you will life goes on blah blah like the way I had to keep going after Dawn died' or some such. So she did get a mention.

But yes you're right no one ever mentions them normally. Or anybody's who's left!

Between the faces of Rhona, Vanessa and Laurel in tonights episodes, I seriously wanted to chuck something at the telly, I don't think I have ever seen such gormless expressions on anyone. They all looked the same. I have said it before that the woman who plays Laurel is a brilliant actress but since she got with Marlon she has been woeful, why can she not see she needs help, facing up to her fears, with a carjacker, yep that's the way to go out about getting help alright. As for Vanessa, she is just a controlling manipulative wagon, I can't wait for her to be outed as a drug dealer and I hope Paddy dumps Rhona for the coward that she is.

Phew feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest Smile

I am all for diversity but they have already done the lesbian vet story line with Zoe. If they needed to have another gay character why another bloody vet?

The Rhona thing could have been done so much better. Respectable vet getting addicted to prescription medicine etc. WHY bring the whole boring Vanessa into it? She was a nobber from the second she arrived. Really rude to paddy, acting like the eternal student. Urgh!
Paddy deserves so much better. I liked him and Chas together!
Yes, when will the identity of Rachael's baby be revealed? Another one that's been dragged out for ages.
I'd quite like laurel and Ashley back together, now Ashley's not hitting lovely sandy of course.
Think I'm the only person who likes Katie. Grin

Another one that Cameron can get rid of would be Bernice, I nearly stopped watching when I heard she was coming back. I actually can't wait for Steven to break her heart, that'll knock her down a peg or 2!!

Think I'm only keeping at it in the vain hope that soon, nikhill will listen to that dictaphone!
Then the shit will hit the fan, but it's been put away and I can't see it ever seeing the light if day again sadly.
I do think the writers are either muddled, or bonkers...there's no continuity with some stuff....I mean why, why did they make such a big thing of gennie recording that conversation if no own is ever going to hear it?
I'm SICK of rhona and Vanessa..... Really not sure how much more of them I can take.
Wish Cain would be a bit naughty again...I LURVES him!

I like Paddy he is a bit daft but the women in his life always treat him badly.

I think that the problem with long story lines are that we as an audience are too impatient and we want them bringing to closure quickly.
A good soap probably needs several different plots both short term and long term to make it successful .

I think it's so she can keep her where she wants her, Milk. As long as Rhona's dependent on her for the drugs, she needs her IYSWIM.

I agree that it's in Vanessa's interest to keep Rhona's problem from Paddy. Do we think Rhona is really considering her sexual orientation or is just trying to keep hold of the source of her supply?

Also will Either Amy, or Cain and Moira end up fostering/adopting Kyle? Or could Amy and Cain possibly get together and bring him up together? Nah, can't see that happening? But surely someone out of these 3 are going to end up with him or why else have the story line of his adoptive parents dying? Intriguing new plot here.

I'd like Ashley and Laurel to get back together too. I just don't see Marlon and her as a couple. And over the last week or so, Ashley has morphed into a bit of silver fox looks wise imo. (I am quite old though so perhaps have different parameters of hotness these days?)

cafenoir, I thought the same thing about Ashley, thought he was looking very well indeed, I would love him to get together with someone but I don't think he should get back with Laurel, she's far to drippy nowadays.

Isn't that Vanessa a bitch, suggesting to Paddy that Rhona is seeing someone else, and is Paddy stupid not to put two and two together and realise that everything went pear shaped when she arrived.

I think Amy will get Kyle back on the understanding that Val and Eric help her or maybe they will foster Kyle, it's a good storyline and I hope it's a happy ending.

It's the only soap I watch. Just got back from two weeks away & had to watch Gennie's death on catch up this morning.

Cameron must get caught soon, surely Nikhil will listen to the dictaphone. Vanessa is a total bitch and has messed Rhona up big style can't wait until it all comes out.

I love Amy and love the relationship she has with Val and Eric. I would love her to get Kyle back but would this be allow to happen in rl once you have given your child up for adoption.

I am now fast forwarding through all scenes involving Rhona and doing it at extra speed should Vanessa also be involved in the scene. Laurel is just tedious, she used to be feisty and quirky.

I did have a wee giggle at cafenoir's "different parameters of hotness".

If this Rhona/Vanessa thing carries on beyond this week I'm going to start watching on iplayer so I can shorten the lifespan of the tedium of their scenes too slattern. I swear re hotness, I'm lowering the goalposts the older I get. Most worrying.

The whole Rhona / Vanessa thing is basically the same scene, repeated over and over and over. Did we establish where Vanessa was getting the drugs from ???

I don't know what to feel about the whole Ashley thing. He's certainly looking better, but ya know ... It's Ashley?! This is probably an appropriate time to confess I had a bit of a thing for Declan when I was pregnant. It's gone now, I blame the hormones Smile

What I want to know is how they all earn a living?
What does Ashley live on? And the village has a pub, coffee shop & deli shop( but no basics shop) with not enough customers to pay the overheads let alone the numbers of staff they have. The garage has hardly any cars in for repair & the vets seem to see about three animals a week.
