Is there a general Emmerdale thread?

I've found a couple of threads about particular characters but was wondering if there was one just for general observations and if we could have a hands up to see if anyone else cried at Brenda's hair thing. I thought all those tears and smiles looked real

Do I need to get a life? Blush

RUN , MEGAN, RUN!!!!!!!!
Yes, Georgia and Priya are pathetic, also David for being bothered. I'd be giving them a big cheery wave.
the charity thing is ridiculous why don't they have the party as planned and jai can go if he wants.

BabyMummy29 · 11/12/2013 20:23

It's all gone a bit pantomime-ey at the moment. Implausible story lines and daft competitions between people.

Wonder what the great Christmas disaster will be?

nikkihollis · 11/12/2013 20:31

I'm really fed up with it at the moment. It's all just so irritating.

Hexiegone · 11/12/2013 21:20

Would Megan really have left her son too look after Declan? They've never got on and now Declan is losing it so it seems a bit Hmm that she'd leave the delightful wee Robbie in that potentially harmful situation.

I wonder if Charity's going to kick off on Christmas day as she said she's struggling to hold it together.

I agree - it's a lot of pish. Xmas Grin

qazxc · 11/12/2013 21:25

I wouldn't trust Robbie to look after my goldfish but they do deserve each other!

Ellenora5 · 12/12/2013 02:09

Robbie and Megan never bonded at all, he was such a creep from the beginning, I don't think she ever liked him at all, she never wanted him back in her life it was Declan who decided to bring him into their lives, he should have minded his own business.

I'm glad she has seen sense though and left the house, Declan is likely to explode any minute.

RubberBaubles · 12/12/2013 12:43

Ross was working at a garage when he first came into it. He carjacked Laurel and then the garage he worked at sold the car to Cain.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 12/12/2013 14:01

What is the point of robbie? Confused

He doesnt work anywhere, he sulks around the village pissing everyone off. NO-ONE likes him not even his mother, he irritates her as much as everyone else. Here's hoping he and declan both fall down the stairs or something.

nikkihollis · 12/12/2013 14:16

YoureBeing that is a very good question. Robbie is totally surplus to requirements. He's never given a storyline and is just on the periphery of other peoples' stories. It's not like he's one of the kids who obviously only feature a bit what with them being kids and going rather than professional actors. So if you aren't going to make anything out of a character then why bother with them. It doesn't make much sense.

Glad Megan has left Declan to it. I suppose Declan will turn into an even more bitter, twisted, violent character now and go into an alcohol fuelled meltdown. Yawwwwwnnnn.

ChazDingle · 12/12/2013 17:34

did anyone else notice last night when Debbie was in the pub she said to Charity they could go out as Andy had the kids. Isn't andy supposed to be in Spain?

SpottyChristmasCakes · 12/12/2013 17:38

They're in Spain with Andy aren't they?

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 12/12/2013 20:08

Hahahah HAAAAAAA! At ross trying to come on to charity!

"Ive got a really big ...... Appetite" Grin

BabyMummy29 · 12/12/2013 20:18

Oh God isn't David's dithering so pathetic and annoying? I used to love watching Emmerdale but there's more and more hammy rubbish in it every time I watch

nikkihollis · 12/12/2013 20:45

David is doing my nut in. But at least he has an actual character even it is consistently dithering and wimpy. Unlike Robbie who has no discernible personality. Do you think he's left the show now he's upping and leaving Declan to it? That would be a help.

Didn't expect Jai to choose Charity. That surprised me. I thought blood might be thicker than water and all that.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 12/12/2013 21:02

I find Charity's attitude ridiculous. She cheated on him, but she freaks when he cheated on her. She expects him to fully expect her son as his stepson, but refuses to accept his son as her stepson.

And why the hell is she so hell bent on messing with Rachel? If I were her, it'd be Jai that I'd be angry at. Rachel is negligible in that regard.

BabyMummy29 · 12/12/2013 22:06

I agree about Charity's double standards. There are a lot of weak storylines going on at the moment that I don't care about.

Glad to see the back of Robbie though - the way he used to try to play the tough guy when he looked around 5 foot 2!!

AliceinWinterWonderland · 12/12/2013 22:24

Definitely weak storylines - the one with Moira's nephew (?) that robbed Laurel and all the resulting nonsense in both families? Just nuts. It's all over the place and not interesting as it makes no sense whatsoever.

The David/Priya/Alicia thing is so predictable and tired.

And Rachel seems to go from tough girl to all wishy washy at a moment's notice - I wish they'd make up their minds on her character.

Robbie just seemed to be this little extra person that they trotted out when they needed something sarcastic said. They could have done so much more with the character and they just let him become a joke.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 12/12/2013 22:36

Charity is basically an overgrown child. She has zero impulse control (serial cheat, trashing jai's car, getting drunk every time jai doesnt text her back immediately) and is totally unable to rationalise her thoughts or emotions, not to mention the odd reversal of mother daughter role between her and debbie.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 13/12/2013 06:55

^this exactly.

And why the writers think this is interesting to watch is beyond me. If I want to see a child in tantrum, I can look around my living room Grin I don't need to see an adult doing it on the telly.

Hexiegone · 13/12/2013 14:11

Agreed, Charity's boring the bejeezus out of me.

I can't remember if I said it earlier and am too bone idle to check but I wonder if John and his brother fell out years ago because the brother wanted Moira.

Ellenora5 · 13/12/2013 17:21

Hexiegone I thought that aswell about John's brother, and they are so skint it doesn't take a genius to work out how that storyline will go, I hate Charity and Debbie, two screaming banshees, wish they would be written out of it

qazxc · 13/12/2013 19:34

Oh nice one jai! She didn't like it when she had to make sacrifices, did she?
Stop seeing your son
actually tell Rachel to move away (what bout Sam? Her family? His remaining family that still want a relationship with Archie?)

Oh no Charity couldn't move away! What about Debbie? (the grown up daughter that she has had nothing to do with for most of her life, and has been quite happy to drop like a hot snot in the past whenever it suits). Bloody hypocrite!

Hexiegone · 17/12/2013 15:58

How much of a whiney twat was Priya last night? "Just tell me you love meeee". No, now fuck off Xmas Angry

nikkihollis · 17/12/2013 18:51

I actually felt sorry for Priya last night. She obviously still loves David and the way, after all his putting it off, he blurted out at the scan, that he and Alicia were getting engaged, was not great.

Charity was my numero uno irritant last night. Compared with her I thought Priya wasn't too bad :)

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 17/12/2013 19:23

AIBU to think jake has more sense than priya, david and aleesha combined?

That poor boy doesnt know whether he's coming or going and bright sparks aleesha and david are surprised he's not over the moon about yet another secret? Duhhh!
