Is there a general Emmerdale thread?

I've found a couple of threads about particular characters but was wondering if there was one just for general observations and if we could have a hands up to see if anyone else cried at Brenda's hair thing. I thought all those tears and smiles looked real

Do I need to get a life? Blush

Grrr!!

Alicia i really pissing me off! The decision isnt and can never be in david's hands!

And kerry! I understand amy being som immature and sort of understand her not fully grasping the fact that she is not kyle's mother but why the hell is kirsty such a teenager too? Are there really adult women who behave like that? Surely she can see why they were arrested? Confused

And i 100% agree joanie is doing the right thing. Surprised at eric's response. A restraining order is the least they could expect. Poor joani and kyle.

qazxc · 11/11/2013 21:34

It looks to me that Alicia is far more bothered about Priya's pregnancy than wet blanket, weasely David. I especially liked his idiotic move of having a go at her in the pub and letting everybody in her family know about her pregnancy.
Well done Andy for trying to set Amy straight as to why they shouldn't run off with Kyle, finishing with "it would be WRONG", not that'll she'll take a blind bit of notice though.

Ellenora5 · 12/11/2013 11:42

So is Amy going to pretend that Kyle is Jack and leave the country with him, it gets worse doesn't it Hmm

qazxc · 12/11/2013 12:56

Looks like it. Isn't Jack quite fair and Kyle quite dark haired though?
As another example of selfish/twattish behavior,
Diane: you crossed a line last night Amy. Joanie's getting sick with all the stress.
Amy Did I?
D - Yes, Kyle was upset.
A - But what about meeeeeeee. I'm his maaaaamm.
Angry Angry Angry

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 12/11/2013 13:55

Yes qazcx that line was so cringey

NuggetofPurestGreen · 12/11/2013 19:40

God Amy is driving me round the twist!!

I laughed when she said to Andy 'you don't know what it's like'. Didn't he have his child given up for adoption too?? Or am I imagining that? I know he got her back eventually but still he knows sort of what it's like.

qazxc · 12/11/2013 21:07

I want to punch David. Because guess what dickhead, a woman that's just had a termination (as far as he knows) doesn't need you calling round telling her how much YOU cared about the baby, how much YOU wanted the baby, how great YOU would have been as a parent. Oh do fuck off!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 12/11/2013 23:19

Yes he is being so unbeleivably selfish and as if he actually cannot see the impact either a termination or single parenthood would have on her. Its as if he doesnt see her at all!

ChazDingle · 13/11/2013 22:37

Looks like Amy is going on the ferry to ireland though and you don't need a passport or any id for that (only if you fly). We went when DS was 15 months and he didn't even have (and still doesn't have) a passport

PiratesCat · 13/11/2013 23:24

Don't you think it's a bit unrealistic that bearing in mind Joanie has taken out a restraining order on Amy, that Kyle's nursery hasn't been briefed to be on the look out for anyone just popping into the place? Would the door to a playgroup/nursery just be open for anyone to walk into? It's a long time since I've had anything to do with playgroup/toddler group etc so I don't know.

And would Amy really have had time to make a get away before anyone else managed to hair outside and at least take a look at the getaway vehicle? And WHY would you flee the country with a kidnapped child in a bright blue sodding camper van!? Not exactly going to blend in is it!

milk · 14/11/2013 08:36

Please can someone summarise what happened on Emmerdale last night...

PiratesCat · 14/11/2013 09:20

Amy and Kerry take Dan's camper van to Kyle's nursery and Amy somehow manages to walk in and grab Kyle while Joanie is out the room and walk off back to the camper van with him. With the money Amy has nicked off the woman in the B&B (who asked her to put it in the safe for her) and baby Jack's passport, she and Kerry are heading off to Ireland with Kyle.

Laurel and Marlon invite Paddy and Rhona for a meal round at their house. In the post that day is a letter from the cops saying that Laurel has been charged with assault. Marlon hides the letter in a cook book because he wants them all to have a nice evening without any grief. Laurel asks Marlon something about the meal and goes to check the cookbook and finds the letter but is remarkably calm. Rhona meanwhile clearly wants her little boy back living with her but Paddy has told her right at the beginning of the meal (before Laurel discovers the letter) not to ask tonight as he knows about the letter from the cops.

Katy moves into her new house.

Think these were the main things milk

PiratesCat · 14/11/2013 09:22

Oh! Just remembered, Val and Eric find out that Amy has nicked the guests necklace and money and all the B&Bs petty cash too.

milk · 14/11/2013 12:53

Thank you PiratesCat :)

ChazDingle · 14/11/2013 14:26

in a proper playschool/ nursery then you generally wouldn't be able to get in but some of the toddler groups i've been to i don't think it would be difficult for someone to get into the hall. Saying that, at that age most people are watching their kid all of the time and if they have to go off to the toilet or something they would ask someone else to watch them.

Also thought the toddler group seemed abit unrealistic as the kids were all sitting around in the middle of the room. At the ones i've been to they would have been some at least running round. Also some of the kids there were too old and looked like they should have been at school. But if i wasn't someone who had been going to toddler groups in the last few years then i wouldn't have noticed this

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 14/11/2013 14:32

At my local surestart parent/toddler group you can just walk in but you do have to sign in once through the door and pay your £1. I suppose you could just walk in and sign any name but i dont think you's get away with walking out immediately after with a child. And also it woulf probably be noticed/questioned that you didnt have a child with you a you arrived.

PiratesCat · 14/11/2013 14:56

They refer to it as his nursery rather than playgroup/toddler group. In RL I'm not convinced you'd walk in, grab a kid and get away with walking straight out. But then this is soap world so I guess you have to make allowances.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 14/11/2013 20:34

I found tonight really heartwrenching to watch. I really liked the Val/Eric/Amy set-up so am sad she is leaving - does she have anything lined up to do next?

PiratesCat · 14/11/2013 20:43

Oh I was welling up too, even though I've been so pee'd off with Amy over the last few weeks. I didn't realise she was leaving the series. She was a really good character. I felt sorry for everyone in tonight's scenario - Kerry, Amy, Joanie, Kyle, Val, Eric and Andy. Tres sad.

RubberBullets · 14/11/2013 20:46

I didn't realise she was leaving either. Wasn't Daddy Cain a sweetie :)

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 14/11/2013 20:53

I like Cain - especially now he is a bit more of a good-boy. Still has that sexy edge though Wink

Ellenora5 · 14/11/2013 21:25

I didn't know she was leaving Sad even though she has been a right royal pain in the ass lately I still think she is great in it, her relationship with Val and Eric was fantastic. Imagine Cain stepping up to the plate, I always knew he was a good one, love him so much Smile

Laurel and Marlon can go feck off with themselves, I can't stand them, drippy 1 and drippy 2 I call them, wish they would leave.

Pegfreak · 14/11/2013 22:09

What do you think is wrong with Rhona? Is it going to be that her habit has snuffed out her desire for The Padster?

PiratesCat · 14/11/2013 23:11

Maybe Rhona can't bear the thought of getting intimate with Padders after his one night stand with Chas?

I totally agree re Marlon & Laurel Ellenora Drippy 1 and Drippy 2 are perfect names for them. Any wetter and they'd cause a flood.
