Is there a general Emmerdale thread?

I've found a couple of threads about particular characters but was wondering if there was one just for general observations and if we could have a hands up to see if anyone else cried at Brenda's hair thing. I thought all those tears and smiles looked real

Do I need to get a life? Blush

OP posts:

but surely admitting to paying for the pleasure of Rodney's "company" is far worse?

PiratesCat · 08/11/2013 17:05

qazxc that is very very true. I did feel for him though. He so wants to give Georgia all she wants and she has very high standards what with her posh holidays and designer luggage etc.

I'm wondering if Charity will get to find out about Jai being Archie's Dad? Will he get away with it?

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 17:10

I think jai will be found out pirates

I also don't think priya will have a termination for some reason. I have a feeling she'll change her mind and then have the whole issue of telling david that she actually was pregnant afterall.

Amandine29 · 08/11/2013 19:39

I actually feel sorry for Priya now, David is an arse.

WannaBeANinja · 08/11/2013 19:39

Why is Rachel living at the dingles?

think I missed a few. Wasn't she living somewhere else before?

Amandine29 · 08/11/2013 19:41

She moved out of the house Jai bought so that Ali and the other one could live there when they were evicted from their house. You would be forgiven for forgetting this because they are incredibly dull.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 19:45

yes I feel sorry for priya aswell. as much as I want D and A to be together I think david behaved appallingly towards priya.

also

"You would be forgiven for forgetting this because they are incredibly dull."

Grin
YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 19:47

and why is david's car so rusty? Confused

WannaBeANinja · 08/11/2013 19:50

Thanks :)
ha ha yes they are a bit dull! no storyline in the world would liven them lot up. Monotone voices and expressions- line up Rachel ruby and ali, watch them all do upset face/angry face/surprised face etc... And ther will not change expression at all!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 19:53

OH FGS!

what a stupid storyline! what on earth did Kerry think was going to happen when she tried to break into Joanie's house!? of course that's going to make joanie invite them in to 'chat' Hmm

this storyline is really pissing me off now. come on emmerdale writers you are better than this!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 19:59

and why on earth does Alicia want priya to bring a child into the world as a single parent to tie david to her for life and cause umpteen arguments over money and contact and step parents etc? who on earth would benefit from that scenario? Confused

seriously emmerdale- do better!

qazxc · 08/11/2013 20:31

Alicia saying that David should "fight for it" Hmm. no love it's priya's body and her decision if she has a termination or not, not up to you or david to be bullying her into what you want!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 20:38

exactly! it's not a battle- it's a woman's life and possibly a child's. it's not something to be 'won'

qazxc · 08/11/2013 21:52

well the theme these days are that children are possessions to be fought over and "won". benefit of the child does not seem to figure very high on anyones priorities.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 21:56

yes it's quite disgusting.

I hope you are lurking emmerdale writers!

PiratesCat · 08/11/2013 22:29

Yup I totally agree the Priya pregnancy and Alicia telling David to fight for his child is just not on. I hardly think he's in a position to be laying down any demands on the poor woman after ditching her the day before their wedding. And would anyone be as selfless as Alicia, telling him to go for this? Blimey, she would have made Mother Teresa look self-centred.

And the Amy and Kerry storyline tonight. Lazy, stupid and irritating writing. Twas a very annoying episode on so many levels.

Ellenora5 · 08/11/2013 22:45

I agree with all the above, bloody Amy and her mother need to cop on, the child is not Amys, she wouldn't listen to Val when she was trying to persuade her to keep Kyle, and now she is the victim, and her voice is getting on my nerves, I used to really like Amy, as for her and Andy well that's doomed to end in tears.

I don't feel sorry for Priya though, all the grief she gave Rachel over Archie was terrible.

I'm taking bets that the Christmas storyline will be the Jai/Rachel/Charity reveal.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 22:56

I just don't get why Alicia would ever encourage/want david to become a father with his ex Confused the storyline doesn't make sense. if anything you'd think she'd be hoping priya didn't keep the baby. I mean what does Alicia gain from the situation of priya and david having a child? what does david gain? and it's not as if Alicia wants to 'get one over' on priya (although what a warped horrible way to do it) as she is currently in debt/gratitude to her for getting Jacob to come home. I don't get it. it just wouldn't happen.

Ellenora5 · 09/11/2013 00:04

Ye I see what you mean YourBeing, but maybe it's because she knows she can't have a child with David and that might be his only chance to have one.

I wonder why they just can't have a happy storyline, it's all doom and gloom, although Jimmy and Bernice were quite funny the other night Smile

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 09/11/2013 00:15

jimmy and bernice were hilarious! Grin

yes it could be wanting david to have a chance at being a father but really, it's just about the worst possible way for it to happen for him and the worst reason for priya to keep the baby! I just think it's such a badly thought (or not thought) out storyline. not beleiveable at all. having the baby will benefit NO-ONE! just cause heartache for all involved.

qazxc · 09/11/2013 07:37

would alicia and david be satisfied at priya having the baby though, or would it turn into another custody battle with them wanting to play happy families and saying "well she didn't want it anyway, we had to beg her not to get rid...."
Amy and her mother were giving me the rage, how is battering and screeching on windows and doors good for Kyle, poor kid would have been terrified. At last people seem to stop enabling amy's delusions so much, andy and valerie seem to have backed down.
Totally agree with ellenora amy gave up the child twice, once in the telephone box (fair enough she was young and terrified, not excusable to leave your child in danger like that but maybe understandable) and then through proper channels. She had Kyle for weeks, she had support from foster family, the dingles (apart from cain) where also on side. She had a social worker that was explaining her options, making sure she wasn't making a knee jerk reaction, offering support. She knew perfectly well what she was doing and the consequences, she was adamant that this was what she wanted to do. She's the one that didn't want contact and a clean break, so how she is now playing the victim is beyond me.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/11/2013 14:11

It was all crap wasn't it. My heart sank at the Priya pregnant thing, just when David and Alicia was finally sorted they'd to throw this in the mix. Yawn! I agree with Ellenora though I think Alicia is saying go for it because she can't have children and if her and David stay together he won't have any.

Agree Amy storyline gone ridiculous too. Pollard is the voice of reason Amy listen to him!

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 09/11/2013 14:20

Yes qazxc you can pretty much predict the priya/david/alicia baby storyline cant you. Its getting really boring. Are there no imaginative writers out there anymore?

qazxc · 09/11/2013 22:13

Priya will clearly not having a termination as she poured her wine down the sink.

qazxc · 09/11/2013 22:20

Does anybody else find it weird that nicola dislikes her niece so much? Why do they make gabby to look more and more like wednesday addams?
Where are the twins?
Why would anyone walk into a party calling Rodney "hunter"? Surely if you booked an escort for a works do and he had a ridiculous name you'd say "actually do you mind if i call you trevor for tonight? I've told people you're an accountant and we met 3 months ago...."
