I am so excited!

DH takes over all catering for this fortnight (he does it at other times too) so I can plump my cushions, grab the handchange & get watching.

I'd like to be saying who I was putting my money on to win - but I really can't decide between Rafa, Federer Djokovitch & Murray.

I'd just say that it will be one of them and, sadly, I'd put Andy in last place.

Two weeks of tennis coming up!!

Bring it on. Wine (pimms) & Grin

Whoever said tennis and Wimbledon is boring must have a screw loose

FarleyD · 26/06/2013 21:51

Wish I'd put money on Fed, Nadal, Tsonga all being out by day 3! What an incredible day. Nothing much left to happen with the power to shock now (or am I tempting fate by saying that?)

specialsubject · 26/06/2013 22:01

woo-hoo, one less with that bloody stupid shriek! Hoping the other one goes out next and I might be able to watch the women's tennis for more than a couple of minutes.

The odd grunt of effort, yes. But those silly noises are just a joke.

AnyFucker · 26/06/2013 22:03

Federer was 100 to 1 on to win

DH said "I wish I put 100 quid on that other fella"

And he isn't a gambling man Smile

noddyholder · 26/06/2013 22:12

I think this is Ferrer's chance

Stellarpunk · 26/06/2013 22:29

Yeah, you and me both AF!

Stellarpunk · 26/06/2013 22:31

Or a complete nobdie chub!

Minimammoth · 26/06/2013 22:34

Blindly what a day. I had to be out and just caught the end of the Shrieker match. Want to see more of Dustin. Do they exchange shirts at all after matches?

magimedi · 26/06/2013 22:35

I've been watching since noon & I've been watching tennis & Wimbledon for about the last 40 years & I have NEVER seen a day of play like today.

I am shattered & off to lie down in a dark room.

And dream of Djokovitvh going out tomorrow!

Blimey, stupid iPad.

Startail · 27/06/2013 00:26
Sad Might as well give Dork and Serena the trophies and get some housework done.
OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2013 07:25

Today's forecast:

Lovely day, a moderate chance of showers this evening, but not as high a risk as it appeared yesterday.

Back in a few minutes with rest of forecast!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2013 07:39

Tomorrow looks unlikely to see much play (without the roof) until early evening when things may clear up for a time.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday - glorious :)

EugenesAxe · 27/06/2013 08:12

Chubfuddler - you are so right! I hadn't thought of it from that POV, but had thought the fact that this is the closest he's been to being given Wimbledon on a plate must be freaking him out. I hope he holds it together and just gets through his matches without falling by the wayside as well.

Djokovic (sp) is not infallible here... but will still be a big ask if that's the final. Federer always seems to be Murray's downfall at Wimbledon. I too cannot stand the man; my friend's DM posted on FB about being a 'house in mourning' (yes, she is very British) and I was fairly gobsmacked.

Minimammoth · 27/06/2013 08:17

Startail dear, do cheer up < Joyce Grenfell voice> Grin

ClayDavis · 27/06/2013 08:27

Yesterday happened didn't it? I've not woken up from some weird dream where:

  • seven players retired due to injuries
  • Federer, Sharapova and 10 other seeded playyers were knocked out in the second round.
-serve and volley made a return to grass court tennis.
OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2013 08:33

Even I could tell it was a very strange day!!

BBMs · 27/06/2013 08:33

I was really really hoping to wake up this morning to find out yesterday was all a dream... Gutted I'm still in a parallel universe!

ClayDavis · 27/06/2013 08:57

Dustin's playing in the men's doubles today. 2nd match on court number 8. I shall be at work Sad but the rest of you can enjoy.

DeepRedBetty · 27/06/2013 09:15

Thanks ClayDavis, I've got a break between clients that might just fit - if the weather plays Tennis Grin

siezethenight · 27/06/2013 09:16

Its the morning after the day before....
Woken up, stumbled to the kettle. Thought about all the things I have to do before tennis starts today including tax return... And I can't get out of my mind Federer slamming that ball at Stavs then glaring after it, no apology at all?
I find it poetic justice that he is out - the man who said of Andy Murray last year at the final, 'Andy will probably win, one day....' Quite condescending.
At least that's how I saw it.
Beating him in the Olympics was payback.... And now he is out of Wimbledon.

If Andy wins Wimbledon brace yourselves for the horrids who will say, 'He only won because the greats are injured therefore not playing well or had to retire...' I am not a huge Murray fan but I always feel as if I have to say to these people, he is in the top 5 tennis players in the world. On merit. Because he is good enough to be there.... What are you top 5 in the world in?

Work for me this evening/night so hopefully Djock will get on court nice and early so I can watch it all - if he goes out today? I do not know what I will think!

Timetoask · 27/06/2013 09:21

siezethenight... agree about Federer, so rude at the way he tried to hit Stavs with that ball! He must be a fire ball when he is angry at home.

If Serena leaves wimbledon, then I will be happy!!! At last we can watch an interesting woman's game.

ANDY TO WIN!!!! He deserves it, he is playing really well.

MyBoysAreFab · 27/06/2013 09:22

I agree sleze Fed had the look of the devil in his eyes when he did that Hmm I was never keen on him before but now he has just come across as unpleasant and a very bad sport.

Bring on the newbies, like Dustin and the man who beat Fed whose name I have forgotten already.. I am loving watching serve and volley again! I do hope Andy wins as I am Scottish but there are still plenty left who could give him a run for his money.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/06/2013 09:25

BBMs why are you so gutted?

I'm not being weird but I genuinely don't understand all the misery and :( faces about yesterday.

There was some absolutely great tennis played, exciting matches. Yes it is disappointing when someone has to pull out due to injury, but there is surely nothing so dull as the same handful of players getting through to the semis in straight sets year on year?

Chubfuddler · 27/06/2013 09:46

I agree with Ali. The predictability of the same 8 ending up in the quarters tournament after tournament damages the sport. This is great!
