So excited. We're we starting to see cracks in the marriage last season? I hope we see more of Betty this time.

I've watched Pete falling down the stairs repeatedly. I don't think I'll ever tire of it, he's such a pompous ass.
I'd like to see the episode where he gets punched again too Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 17:39

I love Pete. What a wonderful character he is. He is so uncomfortable to watch.

I am also really Impressed with Peggy at the start of series 4.

I think I like Roger and dislike Don because Roger is amusing (he does get the best lines) and Don hasn't got an amusing bone in him. Ad although Roger was a complete prick it is from stupidity and selfishness, and I think Don is nasty and cruel.

I miss Mona. I love the episodes with her and Roger.

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 17:40

That was a brilliant, brilliant fall. God I laughed when I saw it.

SgtTJCalhoun · 14/05/2013 17:57

I don't think Don is able to help being like that though. I don't think he does it on purpose. He just IS. It's easy for Roger to be funny and laid back. He's got that shine of wealth and private education. Don has come from less than nothing, from a background of total immorality and dog eat dog. He's always had to survive and done whatever it took to do that. He can't be any other way but he's intelligent enough to see himself but not able to stop. That line where he says "I don't want to be doing this next year" or something like that, he seemed so hopeless to me when he said that. He marries these amazing girls and has these amazing opportunities to remake himself over and over but he can't do it. Dick Whitman always wins over Don Draper.

Love the episode where Pete gets punched Grin

I've got a wedding coming up. Maybe I should try the Betty in Italy look. Even though I'm more a Joan Smile

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 18:06

No you are probably right sgt. I do sniff a bit at the whole Don's terrible childhood theme. Poverty, violence and illegitimacy were not unusual for a child born in he 20s. I can't see any redeeming features in him.

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 18:07

I would like to look like Betty in Italy. Fat chance!

I also haven't seen any episodes with Megan Draper in yet (god I am so behind) but time she looks amazing in the stills. Is she a hateful character though, she seems rather disliked.

SgtTJCalhoun · 14/05/2013 18:12

I don't like Megan. It really annoyed me when Don married her, but I suspect that's what the writers wanted.

kneedeepindaisies · 14/05/2013 18:15

I don't like her. There's no particular reason. She's just a bit blah.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 14/05/2013 18:30

Megan isn't hateful, she's naive, in the extreme. Her defining moment was the zooby bisous song she sang for Don. I could feel myself dying inside with shame - just watching her made me cringe.
I wish I had looked like Betty in Italy. Instead I was slightly sweaty in an old festival t-shirt. Real life eh?

SgtTJCalhoun · 14/05/2013 18:42

She's just wet isn't she? She doesn't seem to have any definition. I mean Betty is a woman of few words but you completely know what's going on with her. Megan just drips around everywhere with the odd spark of rebellion that quickly fizzles out.

kneedeepindaisies · 14/05/2013 19:14

Hi Accidental

Read anything interesting lately Wink

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 19:32

I love Betty. Well not love, obviously, but her character is great. I think her acting is marvellous, that it where she had the fag hanging out of her mouth shooting those pigeons.

IdaBlankenship · 14/05/2013 19:43

Poor Megan, a bit unfairly maligned - she definitely gave those poor kids more maternal warmth in a weekend than Betty gave them over the past few years.
I don't think she is naive though - that scene when she did angry cleaning in her underwear to provoke Don showed she knows exactly what she is doing. However I don't think she realises quite how damaged Don is, and that she can never do enough to make him happy. She is getting increasingly insecure as this season goes on.

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 19:45

She is beautiful looking in the photographs, suits the sixties clothes her character wears.

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 14/05/2013 20:24

Oh hello kneedeep fancy seeing you here Grin

Lighthousekeeping · 14/05/2013 20:50

I want to see more of Betty. I miss her.

OP posts:
TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 14/05/2013 20:57

Me too, I want to see her back looking glamorous again. She was a visual feast. Is that shallow?!

TheAccidentalExhibitionist · 14/05/2013 20:59

Getorf that image of Betty is with the fag and the gun is my very favourite!

GetOrfMoiLand · 14/05/2013 21:49

It's my favourite scene as well. It is so marvellous.

I agree she is a visual feast, I don't think it is shallow. She is mesmerising to watch. That bit in series 2 where she meets Don in a bar (in the Plaza?) and she sweeps down a grand staircase in slow motion.

I am not looking forward to seeing her get fat and frumpy.

IdaBlankenship · 15/05/2013 09:15

She's not just frumpy , she also seems defeated Sad. She's lost that spark from the first couple of seasons.

Has she been in any scenes with him this season?

OP posts:
IdaBlankenship · 15/05/2013 22:48

No - she has spoken to him on the phone only.

Don is being waaay creepy this ep.

kneedeepindaisies · 15/05/2013 23:00

He is being really odd. Lots of red flags as they say in Relationships.

I'm off to read Tom and Lorenzo Smile
