The Sullivan family - and Tania in particular - come across as way beyond merely unconventional. She is constantly saying that other people think them "weird" but the truth is, she clearly has some deep-rooted issues about removing herself from the outside world. Her determination to keep her children under house arrest goes way beyond a desire for self-sufficiency. She spooks me out, tbh since once she gets her farm I can see her removing them from society altogether.
Tanya, on the other hand, has clearly lost sight of herself somewhere but did come across as a warm and loving mother. She is clearly a tad bonkers and certainly not very realistic about her children growing up and leaving home but I got the impression of a much healthier family unit than the Sullivans present.
