Yeah, I thought that's just the sort of thing kids do! He and his wife work in "Social Care", so may be a bit nicey, nicey - not seen much of them yet!

brimfull · 30/04/2006 22:17

merryberry · 30/04/2006 22:25

dp and i always have one dad who we christen mr. potato head for being so dense. this time it is mr larkin-smith. also now known as mr. farkin-smith in honour of how blue I turned the air willing him off his backside.

lucykate · 30/04/2006 22:49

i watched this tonight, if the older guy loves reading so much, and his twins obviously need a proper routine at bed time involving some wind down time, why is he not reading them a story?

GDG · 30/04/2006 23:11

ggirl - yes I did - I was muttering 'mountain out of molehill?!' as I was watching. Maybe it's cos cameras are on them?

62 yr old 'father' really getting on my nerves - what a waste of space. His poor, poor wife.

Groinslaves · 30/04/2006 23:28

A waste of space indeed. The lazy old sod. He knows what side his bread is buttered. Didn't his poor wife look run down. Sad

jalopy · 01/05/2006 09:26

Missed the first half of the programme. Does she have a black eye from an epileptic seizure? Agree, Larry is a pretty lazy and 'hands off' type of dad. She must of known that before she embarked on motherhood. His age alone would have worried me, if I'm honest. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

schneebly · 01/05/2006 09:30

Dont even know if they wanted kids - there was a clip at the end showing what happens in the next show and she was telling tanya that she was told she had 2 large cysts in her ovaries and she was, in fact, 5 months gone with twins!!! Agree about him being lazy - seems very old fashioned, if he was that worried about her being tired then why cant he just help out more ffs!?

beansprout · 01/05/2006 09:36

I wondered that too - why not pass on that love of books to your children? Complete and utter lack of routine seems to be a lot of the problem. Just need to establish that and then put a rocket up that bloke's ar$e - sorted.

MadamePlatypus · 01/05/2006 17:27

I agree that Rowan's Dad over reacted over the slide incident, but I think this may stem from over protecting the older autistic child. I think they have alot on their plate - looking at the ages, I suspect she might even have been pregnant with no. 3 when the eldest child was getting his diagnosis.

Whizzz · 02/05/2006 21:05

It made me cry.....the boys and their dad, painting...made me blub....

beansprout · 02/05/2006 21:18

I constantly cry at this programme. It always boils down to something sad or difficult that the parents have been through.

sandyballs · 03/05/2006 11:13

Wasn't Tanya great with Morton. Made me blub too.

jenk1 · 03/05/2006 12:03

DH wants her to come and be DS psychologist, wonder why? Wink

Bugsy2 · 03/05/2006 12:29

So glad its back. I love this show. Nearly blubbed last night with the daddy of Rowan talking about his horrible childhood.
Larkin-Smith is a piss taker but poor knackered wife exacerbates situation by thinking he is incompetant.

cod · 03/05/2006 12:31

Eulalia · 03/05/2006 12:49

I have only seen one episode of this so don't know the whole story. Interesting reading your responses about the older father. My dh is 60 and we have 3 kids, 6, 4 and 9 months. Yes it is hard for my dh and I do more than him but he does work full-time and is also renovating our house so from our point of view my dh does a lot more than some men half his age. He is also extremely talented and knowledgeable. Don't want to turn this into 'my dh is wonderful' story just to say that old does not mean bad.

Agree the wife should stick up for herself more.

cod · 03/05/2006 12:50

but thats iorrlevant
thik that she dfers to his" knwoldege"

foxinsocks · 03/05/2006 12:53

as noone answered my question on the other thread (ggrrr) did he finally let the epileptic woman have a lie-in or have a catch-up sleep? How come he got one and she didn't? I'd be bashing him over the head with a bloody frying pan if he behaved like that.

Eulalia · 03/05/2006 12:53

defers was that? Yes probably. She comes across as being a bit of a doormat. Much bigger age gap than there is with us (I am 40). It does seem a bit like when I first met dh as I was in my 20s and rather in awe of him. I know how to keep him in place now.

One thing I would say is that men/people? do like their own space/hobbies/habits etc when they get older and 2 year olds don't exactly help with that. But you've got to make changes if you have kids. Sounds like this guy expects far too much.

cod · 03/05/2006 12:54

yes i agree

foxinsocks · 03/05/2006 12:54

yes I was Shock at him not handling the two little ones not wanting to draw perfect circles and keep between the lines!

Eulalia · 03/05/2006 12:55

At the end of last nights episode he was putting them to bed and back in again and yes she was sitting in the kitchen letting him get on with it. It finished then so will just have to wait for the next episode.
