OP posts:
Whizzz · 08/05/2006 21:57

I missed yesterdays prog, but they said that one of the kids was diagnosed with chicken pox

wannaBe1974 · 08/05/2006 22:00

Think Tanya is right - Natasha has never been told no so it came as a bit of a shock!

emsiewill · 08/05/2006 22:00

The boy with selective mutism had chicken pox, so had to leave.

I had to admire the parents of Natasha - what an ordeal. The mother was so right when Tanya asked her if she wanted to stop - "then it will have all been for nothing".

Although I am all for Tanya's techniques and believe in them / agree with them wholeheartedly, I always feel slightly uncomfortable; it is almost like breaking the child's spirit. I suppose the sad thing is it wouldn't have to be broken if they had been 'trained' properly in the first place.

dollybird · 08/05/2006 22:07

Apparently a new TT record! Def a bit weird when she was saying (before she even went to bed) 'I want to sleep with yoooou Daddy'. Glad the Dad saw it was not right any more.

misdee · 08/05/2006 22:26

i only saw the bit about rapid returns. omg, that was awful to watch.

fireflyfairy2 · 08/05/2006 22:45

Natasha's daddy looked shocked when he saw himself in bed with his dd... he kept saying "that's not right"

He has no emotions at all that man... did you see the little brat biting?
And the little boy eith the jelly beans.. although I can't blame him..they are sitting there teasing them ;)

wannaBe1974 · 09/05/2006 07:06

think the father just doesn't know how to feel emotion, and he seemed uncomfortable with his wife showing emotion as well which prob means she doesn't get any emotional from support from him - very sad. I can imagine how rejected she must feel by the fact that she is literally pushed out by him and their daughter, but she seemed resigned to it as just got out of bed and let the little girl in.

I do think it's hard when the parents go through the repid returns etc and it must be so upsetting for them, but tbh I do also think it's very sad that a 4-year-old is unable to sleep or even fall asleep on her own.

tinyFox · 09/05/2006 07:23

I missed last nights, damn. what happened?

jenk1 · 09/05/2006 11:04

thought it was unusual when Tania said that she knew straightaway what the problem with the new family was-kai, DH thinks he isnt getting enough attention and that his mum just tells him off all the time.

bundle · 09/05/2006 12:15

did anyone see the "rapid return" being used on the little blonde girl? nearly 300 times in one night, iirc..! am riveted by tanya & her scarves Smile

fireflyfairy2 · 09/05/2006 13:10

I know!!! 300 times!!

But also have to agree that it is sad she cannot sleep in her own bed. She is the same age as my DD and she loves having her own room and bed and stuff :) Kai (from the new family) seems to be a little boy with a lot of anger and yes, I suspect her is doing it all for attention, despite the fact that it is negative, mummy has to look at him and pay him attnetion to get him to stop!
My mum is 66 and she was watching this with me lastnight, she said that she doesn't know what the problem is with children these days, as she raised 8 of us and never had a tantrum or back chat in her life! She was sitting looking at the telly going "Ohhh that boy needs a good talking to.. look at him... aren't jellybeans making him hyper!" lmao Grin

ProfYaffle · 09/05/2006 13:25

Raggydoll - I thought that. What we saw didn't seem bad enough to justify Tanya's response, I wondered if it was edited.

bundle · 09/05/2006 13:36

not just the jellybeans making him hyper, the whole lack of response of his mother to anything other than bad behaviour...classic tanya's scarf territory...

Mascaraohara · 09/05/2006 13:41

I was wso disappoionted the little lad with selective mutism had to leave, I was really interested to watch how that panned out.

Agree re. the new Kai's mum only reacting to negative behaviour

I quite like Natasha's dad, I am assuming that he's just generally a cut and dry chap and there's nothing more sinister to it but I think I'm a bit similar to him and so can relate a little bit.

wessexgirl · 09/05/2006 13:57

I think it's more that he said he didn't want any more babies because of all the mess they make (which was why he had so little to do with Natasha when she was a baby)...when his wife is clearly longing for another. And when she was very upset and het-up in the kitchen he joked, "Are you upset that you're missing your soaps?" Thought it was a bit strange.

MagicGenie · 09/05/2006 14:32

I found all those rapid returns riveting but so uncomfortable to watch.

The poor Mum. She looked heart-broken when Natasha started biting etc. It's hard to cop all that anger from your child. But....inevitable when she (i.e. Natasha) has got away with murder for so long.

saadia · 09/05/2006 15:05

fireflyfairy2 I think your mum is right, my mum and mil say the same - that we were never as disobedient as our children are. As kids we ate what we were given and slept when we were told to, unlike my dss.

Mascaraohara · 09/05/2006 15:11

It's funny isn't it beecause I'm not very good at dealing with other people when they are emotional and I would have probably said soemthing similarly stupid. When he realised she was actually upset he did tell her to 'come here' and put his arms round here.. I honestly don't think he has a clue how his wife feels though. I think he wants to do the right thing but is clueless as to what the right thing is.

I could really relate to what he said about not wanting another my dd is just approaching 4 and it was only a couple of days ago I said to a friend that before now I had wanted more but all of a sudden I feel much less inclined to do it all again, the mess, the sleepless nights, the inability to be spontanious. I think he articulated his point badly but I could relate.

Raggydoll · 09/05/2006 16:05

profyaffle - that particular family havent featured much yet... i'm interested to see what course of action will be taken regarding the dads'anger'. def agree must have been some editing as he did look really angry at one stage but i just didnt see the behaviour tanya described....

natasha was livid with her mom and dad wasn't she - i mean she was furious. i must admit it didn't upset me I just thought it was good that she finally realised who was in charge. i have to say i think it will do her and her mom the owrld of good.

Mog · 10/05/2006 09:25

Dr Tanya rocks doesn't she? I can just imagine sitting down with a nice cuppa with her and ending up blubbing and telling all my darkest fears. Want her to be my best friend Smile

I find TT compulsive viewing now as it's see if you can spot what's wrong with the parents from day 1. And a bit scary how much influence we have on our kids.

Mascaraohara · 10/05/2006 10:35

What happened last night? was out

foxinsocks · 10/05/2006 10:50

ok was waiting for someone else to do it Grin but basically (first time I have watched this week)

the family with the dad who was left out - he did loads with Kai and both son and dad absolutely loved it but mum admitted she found it hard and also admitted that she felt she couldn't trust his parenting skills (poor bloke!)

family with the little girl went for dancing lessons and a meal and they were warned to prepare for another dreadful night but the little girl was so tired that while her mum was reading a story she actually asked to go to sleep! (we didn't see what happened in the night). The parents also admitted that they found it weird having time together again (she sounded a bit pissed off with him)

the single mum with Kai admitted she didn't treat him like a child and took things out on him because she was feeling so shit so she's working on treating him appropriately

mygirllolipop · 10/05/2006 11:17

Just found this thread. I love HOTT, and agree with what you've said in that you can see the problem/s straight away. Also totally agree with what you said on last week's Larry. DH hates these sorts of programmes but was shouting at the TV like the rest of us over Larry!
I don't watch it on normal TV though, watch it on Teleport Replay the next day.
