Lazy old git, wasn't he?!!

OP posts:
MagicGenie · 24/05/2006 14:56

I was gesticulating wildly at the telly through a mouthful of my tea when Jesse interrupted Harry and Joe's game at the lunch table - and got away with it! When he should have been eating his food!

Harry and Joe's Mum handled that really calmly, I thought. Must have been so frustrating seeing Jesse's parents doing bog all to stop.

Thank God Tanya came and intervened or I might have choked!

Jessajam · 24/05/2006 15:04

yep, much hollering at tv from me too! Could not believe it when Jesse's da was laughing about Harry having the tantrum that he had caused by letting his son interupt the game! Grrrr!

fuzzyfelt · 24/05/2006 21:30

Managed to watch it tonight. Thought it was great.
Jesse's parents seem more relaxed and the Dad is actually listening to Dr T!

Think we're seeing Amelias's true colours - and her Mums!

Felt sorry for Georgie - can relate to how she feels. You don't get much feedback on how you're doing as a mum do you?

2shoes · 24/05/2006 21:56

how does Amelia's mum stop herself from exploding? and is it me or is Harr's brother a wee bit naughty:o

sugarfree · 24/05/2006 22:07

I feel bad for saying this about a 4 year old but I loathe Amelia. She is everything I detest in a child.

mysonsmummy · 25/05/2006 00:24

did you see the state of the 3 boys parents bedrooms - didnt make any of the beds and mess everywhere. cant imagine what their home must be like.

Mog · 25/05/2006 21:03

Is it just me or does our Tanya seem a tad more blunt tonight. Perhaps its the last week of a long run for her.

sugarfree · 25/05/2006 21:14

Amelia is enough to make anyone blunt, frankly.

peasinapod · 25/05/2006 21:16

All I am going to say is Socks ?

misdee · 25/05/2006 21:17

was it worth fighting over socks?

sugarfree · 25/05/2006 21:20

The socks thing should never have happened anyway.Mum said NO SOCKS.Oh,yeah,I forgot that doesnt matter in Amelia-land.

(This is about the third or forth bitchy comment I have made about Amelia on various threads.I need to get a grip)

sugarfree · 25/05/2006 21:21

I hate Amelia.

LIZS · 25/05/2006 21:27

Socks aargh !! Mum says no , then find them yourself, then they end up coaching her to put them on , then folding the cuffs over - wtf the original answer was NO so why give all the attention. Talk about manipulation.

dollybird · 25/05/2006 21:35

What I didn't get was why it mattered so much whether she wore socks or not in the first place - she was only round the house. And then I thought it was a bit mean to call her a 'strange child' because she wanted socks on! She is annoying though.

singersgirl · 25/05/2006 21:41

I would have just let her wear socks. Obviously once the mother had said no she should have stuck to it, but I couldn't see why it mattered -it seemed strangely controlling. DS2 (4) wears all sorts of strange combinations when he dresses himself.

The mum does keep saying things about how strange she is and how she ruins everything, which seem a bit much.

And that Michael is so annoying....

amber5 · 25/05/2006 22:21

there was a cheer for lucas here when he bit amelia. that baby has it sussed Grin

peasinapod · 25/05/2006 22:31

The socks mattered because they didnt match the outfit and it may have been only in the house but this house was on TV

singersgirl · 25/05/2006 22:45

That's what I thought too...

MrsSpoon · 25/05/2006 22:50

DH really hates this programme and I have avoided watching the series so far until this week and he is sick of hearing the screaching coming from the TV. They really are a screachey lot this time.

... I don't think I could have resisted giving Amelia a slap by now ... Blush

dollybird · 25/05/2006 23:06

I watched it on Sunday after we'd had ds's birthday party with around 25 children (it was a joint party for ds and his friend), and it was pretty hard to take after all that noise!!

sparklemagic · 25/05/2006 23:25

I am coming over all Tania-ish, I think that Amelia is such a pill partly because her parents have not united to say no to her (as discussed tonight) but also because her mum is SO angry with her. And negative about her. Amelia gives back what she gets.

I shuddered to see her mum going on and on and on about what she had done wrong in the garden, instead of 'do you know why I put you in here? Do you understand that was wrong? Ok then, lets have a hug and go and play"....it was real bullying. I agree that Amelia needs her parents to give her clear boundaries and say no to her when necessary but her mother takes it too far because she is so angry. For whatever reason....

And didn't she make everyone's life a misery saying Amelia couldn't wear socks fgs! Just let the child have some autonomy! I am uncomfortable watching that family as it seems they want such a level of control.

suejonez · 25/05/2006 23:43

I thought the conversation between Amelia and her mum after the scene in the garden was heart breaking. I understood all the time out stuff and not giving in blah blah, but the bit where her mother was saying "now YOU have ruined EVERYTHING for your father" in a hideous tone made me wince. She sounded really vitriolic. Glad she's not my mum. Do you think any of the children have asked to trade their Mum or Dad for Dr Tania?
Mind you, I haven't seen the earlier episodes this week and I gather Amelia has been... errmm... a bit of a handful.

fuzzyfelt · 26/05/2006 08:53

I actually cancelled something last night so I could stay in and watch HoTT - how sad is that?!

I agree with what everyone says about Amelia but it's absolutely not her fault. Lack of consistency between in parenting styles by mum and dad, never saying no to her - look at the monster they have created! Think Amelia has a strong willful character like her mum and they have brought out the worst in her. Think the mum is very cruel with the things she says to Amelia

  • I was disturbed with the 'you really are a strange child' comment earlier in the week.

I bet the parents thought they were going in to the house with quite a simple problem but it's turning out that Amelia is probably the most messed up child we have seen all series. Must be galling for them being such high achievers, perfectionists etc.

MeAndMyBoy · 26/05/2006 10:26

Ahh I missed it, so cross, sounds like it was really good. Least i can get a catch up on here :).

I'll video it tonight cause I have to go out I think.

dinosaure · 26/05/2006 10:33

I love this programme too.

The Amelia thing in the garden was really quite upsetting, wasn't it? It seemed to me that she was forgetting all about the fact that her little brother had been messing about with the fish, and then her dad quite unnecessarily reminded her about it again - cue tantrum and big strop.
