I think the title 'Black Mirror' refers to the tv screen when it's switched off.

I can't watch Big Brother because it reminds me of this sort of thing! BB isn't "all pantomime", those are real people being their real selves both inside and outside the house.

Black Mirror can mean a lot of things, not least that the film holds a mirror up to our own darker sides.

I thought it was called 'Black Mirror' because the common theme is technology (screen = black mirror) and how our use of it reflects human nature.

I thought that the timing of the White Bear one was very apt due to the photos of Jon Venables and Robert Thompson (allegedly) appearing on social media sites. Sadly, I don't think it is too far away from reality hence it's ability to be so upsetting.

i am a bit late to the party, but could anybody talk to me about the significance of the compere/torturer putting a photo of the little girl in the larger photo of the girl and her boyfriend.

i thought it suggested an ambiguity about whether she was actually her daughter. also some of the memory foogate of the little girl showed her looking happy and relaxed in the car.

basking.. That was last weeks.. but i thought the putting the photo back in the frame was purely to help reinact the groundhog day element. I don't think the victim was her daughter from what i remember..

Well just 'hmm' to this weeks, didn't hit me with any great thought provoking revelations.. shame.

basking, I think it's just to set up the idea in the woman's head. It is plausible they (the killers) got the photo and kept it as a momento but bascially it's to fuck with her head so she thinks she's lost her daughter, to make a better set up.

There is a scene of a different couple doing an appeal for the lost girl so I think it's clear those are her parents. The bits about her looking happy struck me too but I wondered if that was just a bit of mis-judged writing, the niavety of someone who doesn't have children of that age, not realising that children would most likely not be happy to be in a strange place with strange people for days.

I suppose it's possible they've made it all up but all the voyuers wouldn't have a reason to go along with it if they hadn't seen the story of the girl going missing, capture of the couple, the trial etc.

I see what he's getting at this week but the jump from local by-election to taking over the world was a bit quick. I think they should have gone into the "do you speak Spanish?" stuff more.
