You watch Easties?

OP posts:

Oh, that grated on me, too, Line!

I thought tonight's episode was great - Tanya's grammar notwithstanding. Her long, impassioned speech was fantastic, imo, and I thought Kirsty did a top job of misguided desperation. She should have said she'd miscarried, but we all knew she wouldn't, didn't we?

Admittedly I've been shouting at the screen with increasing fervour lately, urging Tanya to grow up and start acting like a mother instead of a character from a teenage romance. And she did, hurrah!

Mind you, the cab's not even out of the Square yet ...

Max is pathetic.

FatimaLovesBread · 28/06/2013 23:02

Where are they going at that time of night though?
It's dark so later than 10pm? They've got a taxi to get to the train. They won't arrive until the early hours Hmm

garlicnutty · 28/06/2013 23:44

They take admissions in rehab at any hour. I suppose we have to imagine Tanya's booked herself & Oscar into a nice hotel or summat. Are Jo Joyner and Jacqueline Jossa going on their holidays now, then?

garlicnutty · 28/06/2013 23:49

Agree, Lottie, Max is Mr Pathetic of Feebly, Wimpshire!

Casmama · 28/06/2013 23:55

I'm pretty sure Jo Joyner has left but don't know about the other one- maybe she'll be back after rehab.

onedev · 29/06/2013 00:16

I'm late to the thread but I cried tonight Blush. I thought Tanya (the actress) did a great job doing the speech with Max about where they'd gone wrong & how much their actions had messed up Lauren! It seemed so heartfelt! (I know it's only a soap but I get engrossed!!)

cheerfulweather · 29/06/2013 00:49

Me too Reminds me why I still watch the programme. They're good at this sort of thing, Eastenders.

Tanya (the actress who plays her) has left for good. Perhaps Lauren will be back at some point, though I hope not, I think both characters have run their course.

onedev · 29/06/2013 00:51

I agree about Tanya's character but hope Lauren comes back into it as long as they're true to the illness.

VianneFox · 29/06/2013 20:41

I surprised myself by shedding a few tears last night! I was expecting the old special piano theme tune for her though.

Max really is a pathetic prat isn't he!

TwllBach · 29/06/2013 21:07

YY to max being pathetic. He makes out like he loves his kids but when Tanya made the perfectly valid point that they were hurting their children, he brushed it off. "And what about us? What about what we want?" Errr, hello, you've been doing exactly what you want for the past 20 years you selfish wanker.

onedev · 30/06/2013 00:50

Exactly Twll - couldn't agree more!

TwllBach · 01/07/2013 20:57

Ohhhhh FUCK YOU max, you pathetic ginger twat. He could have put that, quite frankly, odd looking woman out of her misery BUT NO.

CUNT.

And Joey?? What the actual fuck was that?? Lucy has a moment of honesty and you shag her anyway.

Fine show, eastenders men, well done.

garlicnutty · 02/07/2013 01:54

Oh, poor Abi. Nothing like trying to finish your A levels while your family runs out on you and your dad weeps over his pathetically self-inflicted, self-centred, self-pitying fucking love life! "I'll look after you, Dad." Poor kid :(

Poor Kirsty, too. She should have lied ... he'd still have fucked her off, though, wouldn't he. She needs Mumsnet!

Is it normal to want to bang a TV character's head against a wall until either the head or the wall gives way?

Bakingnovice · 02/07/2013 10:25

I found the whole thing terrible. Didn't max do the same scene when Stacey left? Same tears same dialogue. As for Tanya, sorry but can't take her seriously at all with all that bloody fur on her eyelashes. They are just ridiculously thick. Oh and as for bloody Lauren just piss off and don't come back. How many times has Tanya left now? And she said she's leaving but the door is left open for a return. I think she will be back (sadly).

Why did Alfie bother coming back. He has overtake Ian as ee's most pathetic character. Oh and is anyone else hating Sam? He creeps me out with his gurning and pervy smiles.

Kaluki · 02/07/2013 12:47

I think the way they handled the alcoholism was good but Eastenders always lets itself down with the details.

Tanya's sudden departure was so unrealistic, surely a real person would have decided to go during the day? Why would she take Lauren and Oscar halfway down the country on a train at that time of night? And why get a cab and a train to Exeter? They are supposed to be well off yet she doesn't drive or have a car?

And why was Max acting like he would never see them again? Exeter is about a 3 hour drive from London!
The whole Kirsty storyline was just bloody stupid. I'm sure he would have noticed, having had 3 kids that she wasn't gaining weight, and having periods and the meltdown at the scan was just brushed under the carpet, and why on earth did she confess? Why not just say she'd lost the baby?
I need to get out more I think!!!

garlicnutty · 02/07/2013 13:02

I need to get out more I think!!! Haha, Kaluki, me too Grin

I'm buying the late admission to rehab, because I've been there and it does happen like that. She does drive. I don't know why she didn't take the car; I suppose it makes her seem more victim-like if she's being 'taken' away by a taxi. Or maybe she'd had a few drinks? Can't remember.

Max assumes he'll never see her again because Tanya said so. The man allows other people to determine his fate, he hasn't got a decisive bone in his body. He must be bloody good in bed, I assume!

Baking, Sam's so obviously a user. One more weak bloke being led by his emotions and followed by women. Twat. I imagine we're supposed to see what Ava can't, but am startled that she's gone all teenagery over him. I preferred her when she was the lone voice of reason in Walford!

cheerfulweather · 02/07/2013 13:33

Twll - absolutely agree. I'm sick to death of weak Max and his love life. He won't tell Kirsty he doesn't love her because he's such a flake. They're like teenagers!
Hmm at the Joey/Lucy thing. I suppose there's nobody else for them to date on The Square. And this will be set up nicely for when Lauren returns (I hope she's gone for good, but this is EE after all) so the drama and, frankly bleddy boring, love triangle can continue ad infinitum

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2013 14:37

just caught up, so max finally knows now about no baby, would have been so much easier for her to have lied and said she had a mc weeks ago

would the hospital really have released lauren to go home when she is addicted to booze and needs to detox and have drugs to help her which takes 5/7 days

tanys acting was total shite!!!! carrying the burden and i let her

let alone sam and ava, what a total mug, he left her years ago and now she takes him back

LineRunner · 02/07/2013 19:30

I'm fed up of Lucy thinking that 'acting' involved crossing her arms and talking in a monotone.

Murraylover · 02/07/2013 20:36

Janine the superbitch can't leave Enders?

TwllBach · 02/07/2013 21:06

Oh good lord.

Michael was beautiful today. He looked so very want able... I want him. Very muchly Blush

LineRunner · 02/07/2013 22:36

I thought Janine's non-speaking nanny woman was dire.

Not her fault, she may be a superb actor, but the direction and staging were pants.

garlicnutty · 03/07/2013 00:25

I'm enjoying the new Janine-Michael dynamic. It feels more intense now they're quite open about the rivalry between them, and they know each other so well! There were moments towards the end of tonight's episode that reminded me of the Brazilian soaps (I miss them!) Both characters are utterly obnoxious, of course - Twll, you need your head examined!!

Why the hell is Ian trying to be nice to Jean? Although lol @ Jean thinking he's got the hots for her :)
