Is anyone else watching this? The family used the WHOLE third floor.

She wouldn't be doing anything so mundane as opening her own taps

I am happy to report that in Claridges no guest has to do anything as mundane, at least not in the public areas. In the toilets the attendant leaps to attention as soon as you flush, ready to turn the taps on for you so you don't have to do it yourself. I have been to many posh places and this is the only one I've gone to where you don't have to do your own taps.

The show was filmed last year, so what they haven't said is that in July this year, a foreign musician and his entourage checked in. They ARE STILL THERE. The lawyer has barely been allowed to leave the place - talk about gilded prison! (i'd love a short stretch in Claridges)

It's lovely isn't it? I'm trying to persuade DH we need to go there for the night but he's not buying it when there's a Holiday Inn nearby Wink

Chubfuddler · 10/12/2012 21:12

Meglet · 10/12/2012 21:14

Chubfuddler · 10/12/2012 21:15

He was born in claridges? That is awesome.

XBenedict · 10/12/2012 21:15

What a lovely story!

CruCru · 10/12/2012 21:22

How funny to stay in the room you were born in.

Am not keen on glamorising East End gangsters - they were just criminals.

Love the alarm clock meeting.

I love the switchboard guy and the general manager.

But what an extraordinary world.

The housekeeper woman looks scary. Can you imagine if you dropped a glass of wine on the floor and you had to tell her? 6 grand a night or no I bet she would still huff and puff.

Meglet · 10/12/2012 21:37

I'm going to have a tizz next time we eat out if the salt and pepper are left on the table during dessert Shock.

Chubfuddler · 10/12/2012 21:42

I love the doorman. I hope his son appreciates him.

Pickles77 · 10/12/2012 21:45

I'm sure this suite was on made in Chelsea, with spencer and Louise?

GeraldineAubergine · 10/12/2012 21:46

The manager is like the toad couple from league of gentleman.

bluebump · 10/12/2012 21:49

I want to go for tea and scones now.

XBenedict · 10/12/2012 21:50

I want to go for breakfast!

nbee84 · 10/12/2012 21:51

My friend had his 40th birthday there and quite a lot of us stayed overnight. Was a fantastic experience and the staff are all so friendly and can't do enough to help - but without being in your face, all very discreet. I'd love to go back one day when the budget will stretch to it Smile

JethroTull · 10/12/2012 21:54

I had breakfast there once (with work wasn't paying!!) it was bloody brilliant! Pancakes, fresh fruit, the works!

XBenedict · 10/12/2012 21:54

Now I want that job - Chief Snagger
