An ant forager?!!! It's a bit emperors new clothes IMO.

Poor ants.

So glad they didn't eat Orlando!!

I bet no one would have noticed the difference if they'd dashed into the garden and scraped up an ants nest.

Me and dh are deciding how we would have dealt with the rose petals - just brush them onto the fall, or gather up carefully in a very non-romantic way

Report
OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 17/12/2012 22:05

Us too twoter, I've no idea of the etiquette, would they stain?

Report
scaredycat12 · 17/12/2012 22:09

Do you not just roll around in them?

I definitely don't think they should be gathered up!

I loved parts one and two of this programme, but last night's episode was TOOOOOOOOOOO much info on disgusting ant food. Meglet I agree: DH said last night it's an 'emperor?s new clothes' situation. It's not only the ants: who wants to eat bits of leaf snipped prissily with craft scissors and lamb on dirty smoky hay (I know I'm exaggerating, but only slightly). As for them clogging up the drains with their 'not good enough' rendered lamb fat, I hope Claridges deducted the cost of cleaning the basement from the restaurant's charge.

If I were a foreigner visiting Britain for the Olympics, I'd much prefer a British top-notch restaurant to be 'popping up', wouldn't you?

n.b. we were also appalled at all the 'dignatories' spending their tax payers' money on staying here, not only (but particularly) the ones from poorer countries. Was it the Canadian chancellor too, or did I miss-hear?

I ate there once and had coffee and chocolate salty balls in the big art deco room.

It was all exquisite, every last detail.

The manager has a lovely face when he smiles, and then in a split second he reverts to his ice-blue stare of pure evil. We are thoroughly enjoying him, now that our previous too-evil-for-telly person, Neil Oliver, has had media training and gone all delightful.

I agree, the manager is lovely, but with hidden depths. I love the way he goes all Teutonic when he talks about order. Did you catch the deputy saying that spontanaity works, so long as it's well organised or words to that effect?!

I've had afternoon tea there and held a event there. We were treated like royalty both times. Their attention to detail is amazing. And nothing is too much for them. I heart Claridges!

I'm a bit late with this but did anybody else think that those new battery-operated alarm clocks would TICK??? You can't hear them during the day but at night when it's quiet they are really loud - in my house people take the batteries out (they use their phones if they need an alarm)

The old electric ones would have been silent

I do hope guests have complained Grin

(The manager sounds like the Terminator. He is wonderful)

Report
Lomaamina · 20/12/2012 10:16

Ponders I know they were planning to test the sound of the alarms, so given their (manic) attention to detail, I would hope so, wouldn't you?

And yes, I'm sure guests would have complained, especially now they know the hotel spent a mere £20 on their mock whatever period clocks.

I love the switchboard man, but Thomas the manager has scary eyes. I reckon he's mean ...!

I am shocked at some of the outlandish behaviour of the super rich, more money than sense. In the first episode, they ripped out a 15 year old marble bath as one chineese pop singer wanted a jacuzzi Shock

I did like the Cuban guy. Even though he wanted it to look like home he bought the staff an ice cream machine. Very fitting as he made his millions from sugar.
