Is anyone else watching this? The family used the WHOLE third floor.

Was laughing at struggling about how to address a card to The Edge Grin

CruCru · 03/12/2012 21:55

£5.5k x 16 nights. Mind the General Manager thinks people spend £10k on a flight to NY. I don't.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 03/12/2012 21:56

Love how the general manager is worrying himself about the fruit bowl in the corridor!

CruCru · 03/12/2012 21:57

Nice diplomatic answer about when their last visit will be.

I've wanted to go there ever since I saw David Heathcote's brilliant programme about it called Art Deco Icons.

I've told dh I want to stay there for my 50th. He just changes the subjectHmm

CruCru · 03/12/2012 21:59

They came from California and only left the hotel twice. I know they are old but that seems very weird. At least they look appreciative.

Oh bless, look at her housecoat. Reminds me of my darling grandma.

CruCru · 03/12/2012 21:59

A friend had her 40th birthday there. God knows what it cost.

Charliefox · 03/12/2012 22:02

"life is short, we're only passing through". I hate it when people say things like that, makes me all teary.

germyrabbit · 03/12/2012 22:04

life isn't that short really though is it, lasts a while Grin

enjoying this series, love hotel nosiness

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 03/12/2012 22:05

Germy have you tried Richard Grants Hotel Secrets? We are loving that one too.

TunaPastaBake · 03/12/2012 22:06

Lovely programme.
Sad about the American lady.
Love that general manager. His accent is fab.

HassledHasASledge · 03/12/2012 22:07

That was a lovely programme - will keep watching. I love quirky shows like that. And I'm a bit in love with Irish "life is short" guy.

germyrabbit · 03/12/2012 22:10

when is that on hearts?

diddiehunter · 03/12/2012 22:33

think i feel sorry for the super rich... they have to have lifes small pleasures overly dramatic or faked i.e the frogman and the fish story. just to get the kind of satisfaction i get from a hot choc and a movie!!Sad

valpolliandtheivy · 03/12/2012 22:52

True Diddie. They will never know the proper of pure JOY when I can actually order in a Dominos....that's so brilliant.

Grin
diddiehunter · 03/12/2012 23:03

exactly!!Smile aww the old couple were too cute! loved them.

MorrisZapp · 03/12/2012 23:08

Oh no, the dear old lady passed away. I feel bad for spitting my coffee out at the sight of her dressing gown.

Can't wait for next week.

ovenchips · 04/12/2012 13:32

It made me squirm but i was glued to it.

The thought of all the tremendous time and effort put in by the staff at Claridges to basically lick the arses of the super-rich and pander to the toddleresque whims of grown adults made me weary.

There seemed lots of perfectly nice people but they don't need that kind of wealth or that level of pampering and pandering because of it.

Just seems such a waste of all that dedication and effort.

Up the revolution!

Frontpaw · 04/12/2012 13:39

I missed it! I do pass by often and see people poddling in and out. I never knew it was so expensive though!

I don't think I could work there - "So your carpet isn't quite the right shade of beige to match your poodle? Thought shit!"
