So who's watching and and what do you think?

I'm a bit disappointed, there isn't enough White House stuff and too much on the campaign trail. I think that although at the end of the last season I liked both Santos and Vinnick, there is too much of them so far in this.

Vinnick has started being painted as a bit of a baddie after last weeks episode, but I don't feel that bothered about the election as I know that I won't be seeing the winner in the White House.

Santos new advisor Lou is just a watered down Amy, and I don't feel that involved with any of the campaign staff.

What about the leak? Where are Leo, Jed, Charlie, CJ and the rest?

lilibet, did you miss the ep where CJ jumped over a shark? Grin

Kidding, explanation \link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jump_the_shark\here}.

I agree, CJ becoming Chief of Staff was completely unbelievable.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 16:03

I do like CJ.

Its so f'ing rare to see a well acted, still useful, intelligent woman in her 40s (please god she is meant to be in her 40s) on tv.

We are somehow meant to believe that powerful women all look like that Amy (stone her) and Donna.

tribpot · 13/06/2006 16:08

Ah, don't get me wrong. I think CJ is a great character and Allison Janney a fantastic actress.

Slightly disturbed that she is meant to have had a baby 3 years in the future though - as you say, surely the character is meant to be in her forties? The actress is 47 for cripe's sake!

One of the best things about TWW was showcasing older actors with bags of talent (as well as bags under their eyes Wink) - most of the regular cast, plus notables like Nancy McNally and Fitz, all of whom seem to have been sidelined in favour of people like Kate Harper, Alan Alda being a notable exception.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 16:15

cj has a baby? ffs why? Why?

She's an intelligent woman, I suppose...whose shown no interest in kids thus far..I suppose they have to tone her down somehow...

tribpot · 13/06/2006 16:21

In the 'flash forward' episode at the start of S7 Martin Sheen says to her "how are Danny and the baby?" - maybe they adopt or summat?

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 16:23

Aaargh, didn't see that one.

Maybe Barlet was confused? Its happened before?

tribpot · 13/06/2006 16:27

I suppose he could have meant "how is Danny and the baby he with someone else?" but that would have been a mite tactless Grin Also I know various people who refer to their cats as if they were children, so that's another possibility!

tribpot · 13/06/2006 16:34

"he with" was code for "he had with" ...

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 17:22

I know!

Dannt has changed his name! Now he is Danny Andthebaby, not danny concannon or whatever it is.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 17:22

or rather, was...

tribpot · 13/06/2006 17:28

Yours is the only logical explanation Filly. Well done! Let's hope CJ doesn't marry him (or if she does, that she doesn't change her name) otherwise she would be CJ Andthebaby. Even more confusing, if they did have a baby it would be Baby Andthebaby Grin I think I'll go and lie down now ...

thirtysomething · 13/06/2006 20:17

SPOILER ALERT!!!

just read in Heat magazine (I know, such an intellectual publication....) that Josh and Donna finally do the deed next week!!!! About bl##dy time too!

Ellbell · 13/06/2006 20:34

Bums. Just typed (at great length as have splint on finger) post and then lost it all.

Think giving CJ a baby is a sign of writers going 'OMG we've made a woman CoS... how can that be? Quick! Give her an ickle baby-waby and let's cuddlify her asap'.

Mind you, I repeat that she's doing well with that goldfish so must have some nurturing tendencies.

I like Filly's idea (how could one not?) but think there was a photo too...

Ellbell · 13/06/2006 20:42

OK, not a photo as such... but talk of a photo:

We see Danny (standing with his hand on C.J.'s back), C.J., Toby, Kate, Charlie, and Will. Not only have clothing styles not changed, but every character (other than Jed) has exactly the same hairstyle as in the present. C.J. greets Jed with a kiss on the cheek, and we learn that she's living in Santa Monica. Jed looks at C.J. and Danny and tells them that Abby wants a picture of the baby. Danny points out that he emailed one, but Jed wants one that he can stick on the refrigerator.

(cut-and-pasted from TWOP)

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 20:51

oh well, that could be any baby, surely? Surely? Help!

[grasping at straws emocion]

FillyjonktheFluffy · 13/06/2006 20:52

and i take it she's still stick thin with no norks?

tribpot · 13/06/2006 21:08

Absolutely, I'm sure the ex-Pres has nowt better to do than to ask all of his friends/colleagues if they have a picture of a baby he could have to stick on his fridge.

On the other hand, CJ will obv not be CoS after Bartlet leaves office, so maybe she does fancy a change of pace (not sure which I think is the more demanding role, to be honest). She's not going to have the baby during the series; even by American telly standards there's not enough time left for her to conceive and carry to term - unlike the poor doctor in Grey's Anatomy who has been approx 8 weeks pregnant for the last four episodes already.

Ellbell · 13/06/2006 22:14

Also, tribpot, it's still a baby 3 years in the future... (OK, I still call my 4-y-o 'my baby', but she doesn't like it much!)

Also (again), surely Jed would know what it was called. You might say to a 3rd party 'Has x had that baby yet' or 'Have you seen x's baby'. But if x was there, you'd say 'How's Claudia Jean/Danny Junior?'. Wouldn't you? Lazy writing IMHO!

tribpot · 14/06/2006 10:07

Plus I think she must have just had the baby (despite looking fabulous and groomed in the flash-forward) as otherwise surely they would have sent a proper photo (or two!) rather than just emailed a single one.

You're right, though, you would never say "can you send me a picture of the baby?" to the baby's parents, you would say "can you send me a picture of little Murgatroyd" or whatever.

lilibet · 14/06/2006 12:39

Thanks for the explanation Tribot Smile

I had never thought of CJ's age when we found out that they had a baby and now it does seem a bit far fetched. She has never shown any interest in children, but then there has been no opportunity to.

she did have a niece who she took prom dress shopping (Episode - The Black Vera Wang), but if that was her prom and it's about 3 series ago she must be in her twenties now.

I think that she has made quite a good CofS, better than Josh anyway!

Ha ha, don't worry lilibet, I get called Tribot and Tripbot quite frequently on MN, my bad for having such a stupid username I think!

It was the niece's junior prom - as I recall, CJ made a bit of a point about that to the secret service agent (yummy Mark Harmon) but we've also skipped an entire year at some point, hence how we've got to Bart but even so, yes, she must be 20 by now?

Do you realise we have spent more time debating the "CJ baby" issue is than the writers probably did?!

tribpot · 14/06/2006 12:55

God, 'hence how we've got to Bart' was meant to be 'Barlet's final year' I think!

lilibet · 14/06/2006 14:02

I remeber the 'we've lost a year' discussion - must search for it and refresh my memory
