So who's watching and and what do you think?

I'm a bit disappointed, there isn't enough White House stuff and too much on the campaign trail. I think that although at the end of the last season I liked both Santos and Vinnick, there is too much of them so far in this.

Vinnick has started being painted as a bit of a baddie after last weeks episode, but I don't feel that bothered about the election as I know that I won't be seeing the winner in the White House.

Santos new advisor Lou is just a watered down Amy, and I don't feel that involved with any of the campaign staff.

What about the leak? Where are Leo, Jed, Charlie, CJ and the rest?

Who saw it? Lilibet, did you cry? (I have you down as a fellow weepie... don't know why, must be from an earlier post...) I found all the manic stuff quite exhausting to watch, but probably quite realistic too!

tribpot · 17/06/2006 12:21

Thought the manic stuff was a bit pointless, to be honest. Okay once or twice to give us an idea of what it's like, but all it really meant was that the writers didn't bother having to come up with proper plotlines for half the episode.

Nice to see Toby's kids again, it looks like Andi maybe did move into that house he bought for her?

Wondering now who Toby is protecting, have a theory but maybe we shouldn't talk about it til all have seen it?

lilibet · 17/06/2006 15:12

I haven't seen it yet, but have had a text from my bf who is also a wingnut but not a mnetter, saying she was surprised at how old Toby's childen were - I think that you forget how long things are supposed to be.

Oh yes Ellbell I am a weepie, I could win awards for my weeping at films and tv programmes, in fact there are some that I only have to think of to bring a lump to my throat

"I miss my boys Charlie" - sob!!

lilibet - the kids are in pre-school so I guess about three? They were born at the end of series 4, this is series 7, so it does seem reasonable. How quickly they grow up, sigh! (Even on telly)

Ellbell · 17/06/2006 20:41

They were born at the end of series 4. The beginning of series 4 was Bartlet's re-election campaign, and it was during that campaign(Debate Camp?) that Andi told Toby she was pg. But she already knew it was twins at that point, so I'm guessing she must have been at least 12 weeks. So (how sad am I, working all this out?) if she told him about a month before the election (not sure when exactly the debate would have been) they'd have been born 5 months after the election (or possibly a bit earlier, being twins), so they'd be c. 3 years 8/9 months at this point. (And of course there was the small matter of the year that disappeared somewhere...) Phew! Glad I worked that one out.

Lilibet... I cry at stuff that isn't even meant to be sad. But SadSadSad and a big blub at 'I miss my boys Charlie'. Poor old Mrs Landingham.

LOL @ 'wingnut'. That's what my dh calls Prince Charles (and other unfortunates with sticky-out ears).

sfxmum · 17/06/2006 20:45

pointless picking but Andi seeking re election dressed as a witch, presidential cadidate's son dressed as Harry Potter!!! well don't think it would happen.
this is the kind of pointless thing that bugs meGrin

Ellbell · 17/06/2006 21:02

I just assumed that's what they did in America!

sfxmum · 17/06/2006 21:27

am sure they do but given the current climat of religious right influence its unlikely they would choose such 'evil' characters even being democrats IMO
kinda nutty really

lalaa · 17/06/2006 21:36

am glad to see that others found last night's episode completely manic. i thought i was overtired and had drunk too much wine, but am reassured that it wasn't just me! Must be the election next week, surely.

thirtysomething · 17/06/2006 21:49

me too thought I was so tired I could no longer differentiate different conversations, so glad to hear it wasn't my mental state! Thought the whole Halloween theme a bit far-fetched - the media coverage must have looked so staged. Have I missed something with Leo or do they kill the character off soon?

Ellbell · 17/06/2006 22:32

Election next week! (Thank the lord... couldn't take another episode like last night's...)

tribpot · 18/06/2006 08:09

Oh, forgot to say, did anyone else spot the undertone between Helen and Donna that Annabeth is sleeping with Leo?!?! (Just my fevered imagination).

The manic conversations - even though I'd been drinking wine it never occurred to me that it might be my fault I couldn't follow what was happening Wink I don't think we were meant to, really, hence why it was so annoyingly repetitive. And Jon Bon Jovi, WTF?

lilibet, let us know when you've watched it so I can share my "who is Toby protecting" theory ...

Ellbell · 18/06/2006 20:41

I know, tribpot. Do you think Jon Bon Jovi paid them to let him be in it?

lilibet · 20/06/2006 09:27

I watched it last night - oh dear. I see what they were trying to acheive with the frenetic camera work but I don't think it worked.

And Jon Bon Jovi - who on earth wrote that part for him and why oh why did he agree to take it? He looked like a spare part.

All Toby theories gratefully received, all mine are crap, I thought it may be Andi then decided it couldn't, could it be Jed? No, not after what he said. so who is it??

OP posts:
tribpot · 20/06/2006 09:37

I thought Andi initially, but now I think despite the way he acted it is the Pres. Strange prosecutorial guy said asked if it was CJ: no. Leo: no. Never asked about the Pres, I think this was deliberate. Think this would be a great sign of Toby's loyalty and a fitting end for the character (in that the show is about to end).

I think Jon Bon Jovi actually is involved in some kind of volunteer program and wanted to publicise it by appearing on the show, even though he ended up babysitting the Santos kids at one point, didn't he?!

lilibet · 20/06/2006 10:17

But why did the Pres say all that as Toby was leaving if ti was him

OP posts:
tribpot · 20/06/2006 10:31

I know what you mean. Maybe to cover up the fact he had asked Toby to do it? Not sure that makes sense though.

lalaa · 20/06/2006 12:33

Re Annabeth and Leo - there's something in the write up for next week (In Sunday Times Culture section) which suggests that there might be something going on between them. Next week's episode is a 'choice' programme too, so should be excellent.

lilibet · 20/06/2006 12:44

I saw that too lalaa. What is he doing with her - he's lovely!!

Must go and post his name on the 'old gimmers' thread!!

OP posts:
Ellbell · 20/06/2006 22:10

OMG Annabeth's voice is like nails down a blackboard. Leo deserves better. What happened to the lawyer (Jordan?)? She was nice.

I'm not really convinced it can be the pres that Toby's protecting. He wasn't going to send up a rescue mission until his hand was forced by the leak, was he? It was CJ who wanted to send up the rescue (though I don't think Toby is protecting CJ). Don't think Andi would have known about the shuttle either. My theory is ultra far-fetched... Does anyone remember that episode with Toby talking to a woman in a bar, the episode when we found out that Toby's brother had died? I thought that in that episode it was hinted that the woman had had a bit of a 'thing' with David, and I wondered if David had been having an affair with that woman (only I can't quite remember who she was or why she was relevant) and had told her and she'd told Toby... but why should she? I think I'm getting a bit carried away here. But if it were something like that it'd explain why Toby wouldn't tell - because he wouldn't want David's wife to find out.

Will tune in next week and see what happens.... When is this series coming out on DVD?

tribpot · 21/06/2006 09:16

The woman in the bar was Ricky someone, she was an early candidate in the democratic primaries, I think maybe a congresswoman like Andi? There was something a bit odd about their conversation, but Toby seemed very definite that David had done nothing wrong in his convo with Andi this week.

I am going to rewatch the ep where Toby outs himself as the source of the leak for more clues!

Amazon say Series 7 is being released on September 11th (surely a rather unfortunate choice).

Ellbell · 21/06/2006 09:38

Am away now till Friday night (will be charging up the A1 to be home by 9.00, LOL), but hope you find some clues.

What are we going to do when this finishes? Will have to set up a support group! (Though dh bought me series 1 on DVD for my birthday - we had it on a very dodgy video where the sound went in some episodes - so I may just start watching from the beginning again!)

tribpot · 21/06/2006 09:40

I think we'll need to have a planned rewatching from the beginning!

lilibet · 21/06/2006 10:40

I'm planning on a rewatching from the begining. And if we do one episode a week it will take us three years

then we can start all over again

I don't remember that she was having a thing with David?
